Trouble looms as PDP rejects Edo Governorship Election results

The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has rejected the results of Wednesday’selections held in the state.

The results from 17 local governments so far show the ruling APC has an unassailable lead of 306,663 votes to the PDP’s 244,363 votes.

Only one local government is yet to be announced.

The News Agency of Nigeria quotes the Edo PDP State chairman, Dan Orbi, as alleging that the results were pre-determined and fabricated.

The election however has generated a lot of attention, positive and negative, as both parties accusing each other of trying to rig the election even before the election was done. A video was also released yesterday showing an APC Chieftain distributing N2,000 each to youths, convincing them to vote.

The rejection of thee result by PDP is however not surprising as reports making rounds till late night yesterday has it that PDP was winning in most Local Governments and even won in the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun’s ward.
