Two Ikorodu LGA Chairmanship aspirants resolve to join forces

Two aspirants for the Chairmanship of the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos state, Folashade Olabanji-Oba and Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo have resolved to work together in the interesy of the Council area.

The aspirants are both of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This resolution happened at the end of a meeting between them at the Eroz Place Lodge and convened by Princess Olabanji-Oba.

 

Both aspirants thereafter held a press briefing where they declared that they have resolved that they would merge their two camps with Olabanji-Oba going for the Chairmanship position while Olushugbo would go for a Vice Chairman position.

Olabanji-Oba stated that the merger was because the had come to realise that their manifestoes were very similar and that both were geared towards the upliftment of the people of the Local Government Area.

“We will move Ikorodu forward with our combined strength, having realised that we would achieve more through co-operation than by dissipating energy fighting each other.
“Working together as a team is surer way of ensuring a greater Ikorodu Local Government Area”, she said.

She said that collaboration is the best way to prosecute a credible ad peaceful election, describing it as their people’s project.

Folashade-Oba pointed out that she has a strong voice for women in Ikorodu and beyond, over the years.

She pledged to work for youth empowerment and the creation of employment opportunities for the young ones. She called for the putting aside of any personal interests.

Speaking further, she said that the issue of insecurity is a major challenge in the nation today and that all Nigerians need to address it through collective effort that requires all hands on deck.

“Ikorodu is blessed, and we can change the narrative for our people since the potentials in our area are huge so we must strive to ensure tha every child has access to the best that life has to offer”, she said.

For his part, Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo said that the essence of their coming together is to make great things happen for Ikorodu LGA.

“We will engage youth with sustainable jobs, and this will surely make Ikorodu greater.

“Together we shall look at every challenge faced by our people and find solutions by bringing capable hands to the table. We will canvass collectively and profere solutions to every challenge in Ikorodu Local Government Area.

“Today marks an historic day as we have come together and made up our minds to
work for the common good of Ikorodu Local Government Area”, he stated.
