Unrest in Erebe Ijebu Community After Suspected Land Grabber Attacks, Destroyed Police Vehicles, Eloped With Suspect
EREBE — Hell was let loose at the Lagos border of Erebe Ijebu on Wednesday 31st of January 2024 as gunmen suspected to be land grabbers and cultists resisted efforts by officers of the Nigerian Police to arrest an ally of a former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) and in the process destroyed properties worth millions in the town.
The reason for his arrest according to multiple source claimed that he was accused to have recently conspired with one Oba Oludaisi Mosuro of Omu town of OGD and another neighboring Oba Awokoya Yesufu, a well known land agent in Lekki area of Lagos State amongst others to impersonate the founding family of Erebe town, the OLOJA ADEKOYA (OFIRIGIDI) ANIKINAIYA FAMILY, a Royal line of the Anikilaya Ruling House of the incumbent Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Ogbagba II by creating one SANGOKOYA OFIRIGIDI, a similar but fictitious name to the founding family of Erebe forged several documents raised and presented false information to the police, Government, courts of law in a bid to acquire 20.981 acres of land in Erebe town Amebo Newspapers NG learnt.
However, What broke the camel’s back according to the Financial Secretary, of Erebe Community Development Association, Prince Adebowale Razak while speaking with our correspondent was that the OGD towns men of Omu relying on the fictitious SANGOKOYA had been using land grabbers led by a popular land grabber, Banjoko alias THREECO to delineate, partition and grab the entire Erebe land harras, intimidate and hired cultists and assassins who recently attempted to kill the Oloja Elect of Erebe, Prince Olawunmi Samuel Oluwasegun and certain representatives of Erebe town.
Meanwhile, The police in the course of investigating a report made to them by the Community founding family visited Iganta (Erebe) to make inquiries where one Segun Lawal, an OGD ally and a host of cultists invaded the site shot sporadically into the air and destroyed three vehicles of the police and eloped with the main suspect.
As at the time of writing this report Erebe town has remain in disarray as only the hired thugs terrorising the town are occupying the territory, organizing protests to cover their tracks.
A clergy Pastor Sanya of OLOJA ADEKOYA (OFIRIGIDI) ANIKINAIYA reliably inform our correspondent that the community is waiting to see WHETHER the invading land grabbers boast of their security from prosecution guaranteed by OGD could transfer Erebe and it’s villages; Okemeri, Ikasi, Igbota, Iganta, Oke Oko, Agbafen, kajola customary ownership to their Owu migrants customary tenants (inventors SANGOKOYA OFIRIGIDI) whom their (OLOJA ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI’s) ancestor Awujale Anikilaya settled at Omu in the year 1849 after the Owu-Ipole war of 1822—1829 descendants of Awujale Anikilaya (Oloja Adekoya Ofirigidi Anikinaiya family) will retain their heritage in country where rule of law exists, time will tell.
Also, Omoba Falilat Otukoya opined that Government need to look into land grabbing activities of Obas abusing their chieftaincy privileges or prescribed authority donated to them to dabble into land issues on the pretext of chieftaincy powers by appointing their stooges as Baales over earlier settled nearby towns, creating parallel administrative structures in a bid to expand their territory or annex the land therein as it is being attempted on Erebeland in this latest scenario.
