The Managing Director of Primero Transport Services, Mr. Fola Tinubu, has promised that the company is ready to provide world class service to Lagosian as it has planned purchase of 2000 buses to convey one million passengers daily in the nearest future.
Tinubu said the company, which has been managing the Bus Rapid Transit in the past four years, has gone through a lot of challenges since the inception; it has witnessed tremendous improvements as a result of hard work and focused management.
He however promised that the management will not rest until it get it right.
There has been a lot of challenges but the biggest was when naira was devalued in 2015 which made the price of products doubled because we don’t manufactured anything in this country. “Every part we used, are imported’.
He said the dollar crisis almost ran the company under. “Our debt also doubled, our cost of operation went up, and it was a big crisis for us because almost threw the company under. But we thank God, with help from our bank and lots of hard work we were able to surmount it.”
On the queue at some of the terminals, especially on Mondays, Tinubu said the state of the roads is affecting the timing of the movements of the buses as a bus which is expected to spend 45 minutes from Ikorodu to TBS often end up spending three hours.
He lamented that vandalisation of the BRT buses is not in the best interest of anybody because it takes a lot of time to put such vandalized vehicle back on the road.
Tinubu said the company is not owing its even as it has reserved drivers in case of emergency adding that plan is in top gear to commence Park and Ride in the terminal.
