Billionaire Philanthropist and Antarctica explorer Prince Ned Nwoko was a special guest at Veritas University, Abuja yesterday and was ably represented by the Project coordinator, Ned Nwoko Malaria Eradication, Mr Chukwuebuka Anyaduba who delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the Initiator, Eradication of malaria in Africa, Prince Ned Nwoko. Anyaduba spoke on SUSTAINABLE PEACE IN THE SOCIETY; THE ROLE OF EDUCATION.
The message was simple and she stated that “at this time of the season, there is need for everyone to embrace peace as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Isaiah 9 referred to Jesus as the Prince of Peace and his birth is significant this season”
Mr Anyaduba stressed that Education is an instrument for knowledge and ideological development. As a Citadel of learning, Veritas University should use education as foundational tool for peaceful co-existence. As a sustainability advocate, I opined that sustainable peace is what every society needs and that is a situation where the probability of using destructive conflict, oppression and violent to solve problems is so low while the probability of using cooperation, dialogue and collaborative problem-solving to promote social justice and well being is so high that it governs social organization and life.
Both Peace and Education were captured in the SDGs on Goals 16 and 4 respectively. It’s worth to note that the Promoter of the first Sports university in Africa known as Stars University, Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North LGA, Delta State, Hon Ned has 25 students on scholarship at Veritas University and hundreds of students across various higher institutions around the world through his foundation, Prince Ned Nwoko foundation.
