It is no more news that the Osun state elections is one of the most popular so far in Nigeria due to the caliber of people involved and the outcome of the election last Saturday before a rerun was concluded.
The PDP’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke who happens to be David Adeleke ‘Davido’ uncle is arguably the most popular among the contestants and this is due to the fact that Davido used his platform to promote him though he has been popular ever since due to his dancing skills which he proudly flaunts.
This election period has seen a lot of demonstrations especially on the social media platforms and most especially from Davido’s fans. Everyone seems to follow Senator Adeleke because of Davido’s influence and if deeply thought, it is very dangerous to Davido’s career.
Davido is a public figure already and the means through which he obtained this is Music, which is a universal language. Both PDP, APC, or any other party listen to Music and Davido’s songs are those which can’t be resisted in any gathering. This shows the amount of love the people show to his songs. BUT even when such degree of love is shown, politics is very dangerous. When politicians see that there is an iota of opposition, they cut every form of relationship with any individual no matter the love shown earlier.
Davido isn’t a politician, but with what he has done so far, he has been stigmatized as a politician too. He can be seen with PDP regalia and as it is, whatever concerns APC, he will never be called upon no matter what, and not just in Osun, but in Nigeria as a whole.
2019 is fast approaching, and it is in the culture of the APC to call Nigerian celebrities and give them money in order to promote them. We all know that the government of the day is that of the All Progressive Congress and they will do everything possible to make sure no opposition enjoy their benefits.
Although, Davido is already made but there are some national events that will bring a plus to his career, it’s not about the money, it’s about the quality it will add to his brand.
Davido’s father might be supporting Senator Ademola Adeleke’s ambition too but he is doing that secretly because he understands how dangerous it is to be tagged as a partisan.
