The senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Gbenga Daniel, has perfected plans to “crush” and set political booby traps that will embarrass the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, Mr Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, investigations have revealed.

 

 

 

Talabi, known for his forthrightness, discipline, and integrity is considered a sitting target by the political war Lords like Daniel. Recent events have shown how the Senator is gathering a more negative image in the public.  The senator is convinced that the SSG is the brain behind his woes. Sources privy to the plan told this newspaper that Daniel made the program known to some of his cronies at a recent gathering. The issue started when Daniel became apprehensive of the growing profile of the SSG, especially when it was perceived that he may be eyeing the senatorial seat he is currently occupying. Several damning but spurious soft-sell publications were launched castigating Governor Dapo Abiodun for allowing a neophyte apolitical person to will such power and influence in the state. The dogs of war were called off when it was clear that the gentleman was not in the race for the Senate seat. However, now that open hostilities have resumed between the Governor and OGD in the aftermath of allegations of the anti-party posture of OGD, the Senator is convinced that the SSG is the brain behind the onslaught on him.

 

 

 

 

 

The former governor of Ogun State decided to amass weapons of propaganda and “take down” Talabi because of the latter’s perceived rising influence in the politics and power structures in Ogun State, a development that the ex-governor believes is a threat to his political relevance and agenda.

 

 

 

 

According to the sources, Daniel believes that Talabi, a fellow kinsman from Ogun East senatorial district, is the brain behind the unmasking of his (Daniel’s) anti-party activities in the state which have pitted him against Governor Abiodun and the party apparatchik.

 

 

“We will start to see sponsored articles and publications against the person of Tokunbo Talabi in the media,” our source said.

 

 

 

The people who should know also highlighted that the typical modus operandi of Daniel is not limited to media attacks but included petitions to law enforcement agencies on trumped-up charges, fictitious accusations of gender assault/violations and finally physical assault of the targeted entity. Our sources confirmed that the need to crush the SSG is now the top priority for the embattled senator because of recent occurrences, one of which may not be unconnected to the treatment received by the senator during the visit of Mr President. Observers at the event noted that the Senator was seen in an argument with the Awujale, the paramount ruler of Ijebuland. This almost resulted in the paramount ruler instructing Daniel to leave his residence. Daniel and his analysts believe that their media campaign to justify and repair their public image as ingrates and traitors of Dapo Abiodun’s magnanimity towards them is being thwarted by the smart SSG.

 

 

 

Sources who are familiar with such campaigns advise that the SSG should be careful and improve the security arrangement around him going forward, concluding that the Senator is unforgiving and has a history of violence.
