WHY IMAN AWARDS 2017 HAS A THEME, ORGANIZERS REVEAL

The organizers of Islamic Music and Associated Nominees (IMAN) Awards, Synergy Media, have explained the reason behind having a theme for the 2017 edition of the awards. According to them, the theme: “Opening The Hall Of Fame” for IMAN Awards 2017 is borne out of the need to identify and celebrate some individuals in the society who have contributed immensely to the growth of the Islamic music through what they do.

“For instance, there are people in the media, some of whom are interestingly not Muslims, but have consistently supported the growth of Islamic music by giving the artistes the veritable platform to exhibit and promote themselves to the public. Likewise, there are people in the music marketing business who are passionate about promoting and marketing the productions of the Islamic artistes. And some of them too are, unbelievably, not Muslims. So, it is about ten out of this set of distinguished individuals that would be admitted  into the IMAN Awards Hall Of Fame starting from the 2017 edition.” The  organizers rationalized.

Speaking further, the organizers pointed out that, all the 40  categories in IMAN Awards 2017 remain competitive for which winners  would be determined by the votes of the members of the public after  nominations must have been released for each category, but that the organizers reserve the rights to determine and select individuals to be admitted into the hall of fame on yearly basis which does not affect whether any of them is still nominated for any competitive award(s) alongside.

“A marketer, a producer, a director or even a media professional, may be nominated in any of the relevant competitive categories of the awards and may still be considered for admission into the hall of fame. But that does not say he has an open same to winning the award  category if he or she does not canvass for votes from the members of the public to beat other nominees. And not winning does not mean such  an individual will not be admitted into the hall of fame as it must have been communicated to the person ahead of time that he would be one of the entrants into the hall of fame. Contrarily, winners in the  competitive categories would only be known at the awards,” Synergy Media clarified.

The organizers also disclosed that entrants into the hall of fame would be decorated with rosettes, presented with Certificates of Admission, and have their autographs imprinted on a special white banner to be known as: IMAN Awards Hall Of Fame Banner which would be displayed at every subsequent edition of the awards for everyone to see and appreciate the contributions of such individuals to the growth of Islamic music over the years. And the organizers concluded by  stating that IMAN Awards 2017 would be holding in July.
