Pastor on Trial: ‘I Had a Special Relationship with My Victim’ – Sex Offender Defends Abuse”

Pastor Chris McDouglas, founder of Peculiar Church in Oshodi, Lagos State, stunned the court when he claimed he had a “special relationship” with the minor he allegedly defiled for five years.
During his trial at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday, McDouglas admitted to the sexual relationship but insisted he was in love with the victim and had plans to marry her.

“I love her because she is teachable and flexible. Nobody should call it defilement or rape because I wanted to marry her,” he stated.
The pastor, who remains in custody at the Lagos State Correctional Centre, even attempted to justify his actions by citing the Bible, claiming that if a man is not sexually satisfied with his wife, he can take another.
McDouglas also confessed to pleading with the victim’s family to hide the incident from his wife, blaming the devil for his crimes.
He is facing a nine-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration, to which he has pleaded not guilty. The case has been adjourned until April 28.
