There are different kinds of leaders; therefore there are no “set” qualities that have to be present in all leaders. Rather, an effective leader draws from a range of personal qualities to help them deal with different circumstances and challenges.

2023 PRESIDENCY: QUALITY LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE; THE ASIWAJU THAT I KNOW

In fact, part of growing strong as a leader is through expanding ones personal qualities. When we are not strong in a particular quality, it is also wise to seek the contributions of others who are strong in that quality. Afterall, no man is an Island of knowledge.

The well-organized person can help to complement the creative person, and the person with the sense of humour can complement the serious minded person.

These are the traits and qualities the man, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu represents. His style of leadership is undoubtedly of positive and momentous influence.

How and why did I come up with the assertion and position above?

Let me take you through a brief retrospective appraisal of the influence of the man Asiwaju on my person;

Many years ago, precisely during my formative years as a young boy, I was priviledged to grow under the tutelage of the man, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This was specifically during his 2-Term tenure as the Executive Governor of the Centre of Excellence, Lagos; the period the foundation for the Lagos we are all enjoying today was laid.

Those years, interestingly, I was opportuned to work directly with Asiwaju’s then Senior Special Assistant on General Administration, now an integral part of the Government of the State of Osun.

Considering the fact that my immediate boss was assigned with responsibilities bordering around General Administration and its likes, I had unhindered access to basically all cabinet ranking members, as well as other personal aides of Asiwaju.

The role of the cabinet ranking personality in question had administrative touches which will of course passes through my immediate boss either directly or indirectly.

This exposure made me vast and conversant with the ways and ideals of Asiwaju; what he stands for, what he believes and what he represents.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a go-getter, a workaholic, an inventor, leader of men, and a master planner.

Isn’t it worthy of mention that today, the most of the cabinet members under Asiwaju are either Governors in their State, Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Members of the Legislative Arm of Government or doing well in their various personal enterprise.

The experience I garnered was purely practical. I saw it all happened. I make bold to say that not many youths in Nigeria would have had a better practical governance experience than myself at that level.

Under Asiwaju, we saw the advent of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Lagos Internal Revenue Services (LIRS), and a whole lot of others.

We saw radical changes in the health sector of the State. He initiated ‘Jigi Bola’ for the elderly. This is in a bid to ensure that the old ones do not to lose their sight in their prime.

Construction of good and durable roads was also a core part of Asiwaju’s legacy during his tenure as Governor from 1999-2003.

He practically touched all facet of the economy with his Team. No wonder it was easy to get a successor from his own Team.

The Asiwaju that I know is not only a courageous leader, he is equally creative, very loyal, honest, forgiving, compassionate, intelligent, determined, fair in judgement and above all, very generous.

As we approach yet another election year, I wish to use this medium to beseech Nigerians home and abroad, not to only support Asiwaju on this noble course, but to importantly vote him massively to become President come 2023.

The prosperity we all clamour and yearn for will come with ease under his watch.

He has done it before. He will do it again.

*Kano Emirate: Stop Making A Mockery Of Judiciary – Group Warns Gov Yusuf*

The Congress for the Defence of Rule of Law (CDRL) has slammed Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State for what it described as a willful disobedience of the judiciary.

In a statement signed by its President, Barr. Armstrong Adejoh Francis, the group said the Governor went low to obtain an injunction from a Kano State High Court to vacate a subsisting order of the Federal High Court issued last Friday.

Francis said it is “laughable and despicable for a state’s Chief Executive Officer in the 21st century to do that”, describing his actions as a mockery of the judiciary

Recall that, a title holder in Kano Emirate, Aminu Dan’agundi, instituted a suit challenging the implementation of the state’s new emirate council law.

The Federal High Court, in its ruling, issued an ex-parte order preventing Governor Abba Yusuf from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II. The court also halted the implementation of a new law that abolished the four emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano.

The order, given by the Federal High Court directed all involved parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of a suit filed by the Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba-Dan Agundi.

Instead of complying with the order of the Federal High Court, the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, filed a suit and obtained the order setting aside the order of the Federal High Court, Kano.

The group, therefore, called for the immediate sack of the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kano State, Haruna Denderi, for aiding the deliberate confusion in Kano, and blatant disregard of a court order.

“Another worrisome issue is the statement from the deputy governor of Kano State, Gwarzo, who alleged that the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero must evacuate himself from Kano because he is constituting a threat to public peace,” the statement added.

“We call on the deputy governor to prove to us how Ado Bayero has made efforts that constitute a threat to public peace.

“This same deputy governor accused the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu of abating the conveyance of Ado Bayero two days after he was deposed, only to turn around yesterday and apologize to the Mallam Ribadu, who had earlier threatened to sue the deputy governor for defamation.

“We wish to remind Mr Gwarzo that Ado Bayero had earlier stated that he is committed to the respecting the rule of law and wants the matter before the court to be settled by the court. We warn those who think the judiciary has become a mai-shai joint to desist from rubbishing our judiciary.

“Abba Yusuf ought to know more than this, especially as he recently celebrated a sound judgment of the Supreme Court which set aside the judgements of the tribunal and Court of Appeal, which sacked him as governor.

“It is necessary to remind Governor Yusuf that the practice of forum shopping is an abuse of law, he must retrace his steps as continuing with his executive rascality is akin to an invitation to anarchy.”

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Alimosho, Lagos State, and a member of the state’s disciplinary committee, Prince (Dr) Adedipe Ewenla, NiL DiL Bsc Msc. has given a scorecard of the performance of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration on its first anniversary in power.

Amb. Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, in a press release signed and made available to this medium, expressed his disappointment and concern over the state of the nation, citing insecurity, economic challenges, fuel scarcity, educational failure, and mismanagement of funds as some of the pressing issues facing the country.
He described the Tinubu administration as the worst in Nigeria’s democratic history, stating that it has failed to fulfill its primary purpose of promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.

Ewenla emphasized that the country is facing an existential crisis due to the failure of successive leaders to address the problems of nation-building.

Ewenla urged President Tinubu to be truthful about the state of the nation and to take immediate action to address the suffering of Nigerians.

His words, “Tinubu should come out and tell Nigerians the true position of things in the country; the country has suffered enough and we need results fast.

“After a careful study of the state of the nation and a review of administrations since Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule in 1960, especially in the civilian dispensation which started on May 29, 1999, the Tinubu administration emerged the worst in terms of not fulfilling the primary purpose of government, which is promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.”

Ewenla described the life of the ordinary citizen as a mess, owing to the economic hardship fuelled by high transportation, fuel price hike and exorbitant food items in the market, adding that this has made the country the laughing stock of its neighbours and beyond.

According to the PDP stalwart, “Nigeria is gradually becoming the permanent invalid ‘Giant of Africa,’ all patriots are ashamed of what is going on in the country as the polity is fast drifting towards its elastic limit.”
Ewenla therefore enjoined the Tinubu government to redouble efforts in turning around the fortunes of the nation, in line with the expectations of the citizenry and his administration’s promises of effective change.

I see nothing good in Tinubu administration more than high corruption and insecurity, he added

Recall that the the Kano House of Assembly repealed the law which ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje used to dethrone Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano in 2020.

After signing the repealed law, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the sack of five emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Kano.

The Bichi Emirate Stakeholders, in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, said they appreciate the judiciary for their courageous interpretation of the constitution, which has ensured that the principles of democracy and separation of powers are respected in Kano State.

The statement was signed by Malam Bello Salisu, Alhaji Uba Kunchi, Alhahi Sule Mu’azu Kunchi, Malam Muhammad Garba Yusuf, Alhaji Mudassir Ado Kunchi,
Alhaji Tukur Sani Kwa, Malam Kabiru Muhammad, Alhaji Musa Zangon Mata and 31 others.

“The First Class Emirate, of Bichi, wish to express our deepest appreciation to the judiciary and security agencies for their steadfast commitment to upholding the constitution and the rule of law” the statement reads.

“We commend the judiciary for their courageous interpretation of the constitution, which has ensured that the principles of democracy and separation of powers are respected in Kano State. You have indeed demonstrated a strong commitment to justice and the protection of the rights of all citizens, and we are grateful for your service.

“We also appreciate the security agencies for their professionalism and dedication to maintaining peace and order in the state, despite the challenges posed by the recent political developments. Your tireless efforts have ensured that our people can live in peace and security, and we are deeply grateful for your sacrifices.

“We are grateful for the independence and impartiality displayed by the judiciary and security agencies, which has helped to strengthen our democracy and ensure that the rights and dignity of all citizens are protected.

“The people and indeed leaders of the Bichi Emirates have endured the onslaught on their rights to this Emirate, and the actions of the judiciary and security agencies have averted the breakdown of law and order in Bichi Emirates in particular and by extension the other four Emirates.

“There is no gainsaying that all the Emirates have witnessed tremendous progress in infrastructural and socioeconomic development in the last eight years and upon no fault of any of the emirs these unpopular decisions were taken by the State Assembly and the executive arms of the Government of Kano State.”
