Truck owners association chairman stabbed, in coma, Association demand Justice
Members of the truck owners association of Nigeria (TOAN), Ogun state chapter has called on the security agencies in the state to launch a detailed and extensive investigation to unravel the mystery behind the incident of haunting and stabbing involving their chairman, Alh. Bamidele isiaka which occurred yesterday the 20th of July, 2025 at his residence at no 5, Adekunle street, isale Abetu in the Abiola way area of Abeokuta in Ogun state
Alh. Bamidele isiaka, a known People’s Democratic party stalwart featured in the news some months ago when his political god-son, a political neophyte and a house of assembly candidate in the last general elections, defeated, against all odds, his counterparts in the ruling APC to clinch the second constituency seat of his ward much to the surprise of all and to the credit of Alh. Bamidele isiaka the sole sponsor.
Alh. Bamidele isiak, having denied being wooed by the ruling APC on many occasions, was attacked twice in January and February 2023 in what was described as both a rape and kidnap attempt.
It will be recalled that it took the bravery and the prompt intervention of the local security outfit around their area to foil the kidnap attempt back in February 2023.
The wife, Mrs Bamidele Abosede Oludayo Was said to have fled to an unknown destination with her two kids Bamidele Fawaz and Bamidele Desire
for safety after the second incident,
Speaking to reporters on the incident, one Mr. Yemi Bamidele, the immediate younger brother of Alh. Bamidele, relayed how his brother and family were victimized, hounded, and witch-hunted by the powers that be as a result of his affiliation with the opposition ruling party, for speaking truth to power, and mainly because of his refusal to join the ruling party.
He also revealed that the assailants suspected to be political assasins are particularly bent on killing the wife and children as a way to punish Bamidele who many know to take pride in and care for his immediate family in no small measure over the years.
He lamented the security situation in the country while he expressed hope that his brother will survive his presence ordeal.
In a release from the association, through the secretary, Dosunmu Joseph. JP, the association challenged the police and all other security agencies to expedite efforts to expose the masterminds of the heinous attack.
Alh. Bamidele who is still receiving treatment at a private hospital ( name withheld for security reasons) couldn’t be reached as at the time of filing this report as his condition remains critical.

Buratai Pays Tribute to Ihejirika at 70, Hails Mentorship and Legacy of Leadership
Former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s immediate past Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has paid a glowing tribute to his predecessor, Lt. Gen. OA Ihejirika, as the retired General marks his 70th birthday.
In a heartfelt message released in Abuja on Friday, Buratai described Ihejirika as not only a distinguished soldier and statesman, but also a commander, mentor, and “architect of leadership” whose influence shaped a generation of senior military officers.
Buratai recalled that his professional rise within the Nigerian Army was significantly moulded under Ihejirika’s command, citing key appointments that defined his career trajectory.
According to him, the trust reposed in him through early command responsibilities, including his first command posting at Headquarters 2 Brigade and later as Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, laid a solid foundation for his future leadership roles.
“These opportunities were not mere appointments; they were strategic investments in leadership,” Buratai noted, adding that such exposure prepared him for higher national responsibilities.
He further acknowledged that the mentorship and professional grounding he received under Ihejirika’s leadership were instrumental in his eventual appointment as Chief of Army Staff and later as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin.
Buratai praised Ihejirika’s command philosophy, describing it as professional, pragmatic, and mission-driven. He said the former Army Chief led by example, combining firm strategic direction with a clear blueprint for excellence that continues to influence military leadership practices.
“At seventy, General Ihejirika has earned the right to reflect on a legacy secured,” Buratai stated, praying for good health, peace, and enduring joy for the retired General as he enters a new decade.
He concluded by expressing profound gratitude for the leadership, mentorship, and lasting example provided by Ihejirika over the years.
The tribute was signed by Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, who described himself as a grateful mentee and successor, underscoring the enduring bonds of mentorship within the Nigerian Army’s top leadership.
