Apostle Ayoola Oladele: A visionary prophet based in Lagos, transforming lives through his selfless humanitarian efforts
…inspiring a brighter future for Lagos community
~By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

Apostle Ayoola Oladele, founder of Letusworshiphealingministries, has made a commendable move, reflective of his ongoing commitment to community service, as evidenced by his ministry’s headquarters in Lagos and its impact within the Lagos metropolitan area

What qualities define a genuine man of God who personifies Jesus Christ? This outstanding Apostle of God, Ayoola Oladele consistently demonstrates these attributes, seeking no recompense from the community

Throughout the history of our Lord Jesus Christ, the scriptures reveal that Jesus traversed various communities, providing sustenance to the masses and performing healing miracles. Notably, the biblical account of Jesus Christ using two fishes and a loaf of bread to feed thousands serves as a paradigm for Apostle Ayoola Oladele’s philanthropic endeavors within his jurisdiction.

*A Call to Serve Humanity:*

Through his midia aide, Oluwaseun Fabiyi says Apostle Ayoola Oladele reiterated that community service and societal giving-back remain integral components of his ministry’s calling.

While Apostle Ayoola Oladele was still serving in the Nigerian Military, he heard God’s voice calling him to undertake His gospel assignment, which ultimately led to his formal resignation as a military officer stationed at the Ikeja Cantonment

Having established Letusworshiphealingministries several years ago, Apostle Ayoola Oladele’s ministry has experienced exponential growth across all facets of its activities. Indeed, it is a healing ministry imbued with unadulterated power, as exemplified by the miraculous healing of a street-walking madman in Lagos in 2024, which propelled Apostle Ayoola Oladele’s ministry and name to global recognition.

*Philosophy of the Save the Needy Foundation:*

As the ministry experienced rapid growth, Apostle Ayoola Oladele received divine inspiration and guidance to undertake community-focused social responsibility initiatives, thereby addressing the people’s needs in a distinct manner. He promptly set up ‘Save The Needy With Your Substance’, a registered ministry and Godly non-profit government organization (NGO) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), without hesitation to God’s voice, funded by himself and some church members under spiritual guidance.

*Is Save the Needy’s Ministry having a lasting impact?*

Absolutely yes, with a lucid mind and compassionate visionary leader, Apostle Ayoola Oladele’s vision-driven approach can never be overlooked and is unmatched within the society. To state the facts without embellishment, Save The Needy has clearly made a substantial difference in the lives of many disadvantaged Lagosians, encompassing out-of-school students, orphanage homes, elderly women and men, widows, widowers, and correctional centers; all of whom have benefited from Save The Needy’s initiatives within Lagos and its environs

As part of their humanitarian services, Apostle Ayoola Oladele recently led a massive team from Save The Needy on a visit to Agege central market, railway, Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja down to Ile-epo area of Lagos and subsequently returned to Ikeja, down to Oshodi to donate food stuff, clothing materials, and cash to orphanages, the General Hospital in Igbogbi at Yaba to settle their hospital bills, a Police Station, and some areas of Ajao Estate, to name a few.

On a monthly basis, they would usually gather en masse to undertake this activity between 12:00 pm and 6:30 pm, joined by Apostle Ayoola Oladele’s wife and the church faithful, who were wholly supportive.

*Are there any financial returns or gains?*

All these activities were executed monthly to honor God, without any governmental or influential sponsorship, either domestically or internationally. The ministry incurred substantial monthly expenditures of millions of Naira, but God has consistently been its primary source of support and sustainability. We undertook these initiatives without anticipating reciprocal gestures from individuals, instead relying on God’s word.

We wholeheartedly invite anyone who feels inclined to partner or provide support to join us, as we formally appeal for support from philanthropic individuals, good Nigerians at home and abroad, brothers and sisters in Africa, and people of all nations worldwide – White, Arab, French, Asian, and everyone across the globe.

We respectfully solicit your support for Save The Needy’s With Your Substance Humanitarian Foundation, a charitable organization established in 2020 that provides assistance to the underprivileged without regard to religion, tribe, or creed.

Governor Dauda Lawal transforms Zamfara into the most improved state in Nigeria

Governor Dauda Lawal transforms Zamfara into the most improved state in Nigeria

Recent reports, including the UK Country Policy and Information Report for 2025, classifying Zamfara State as one grappling with significant governance and security challenges. While it is critical to acknowledge the genuine security concerns that have plagued the region for years, Labeling Zamfara as one of the “worst governed” states represents a mischaracterization that fails to recognize the profound and strategic interventions initiated since the inauguration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal as Governor of the mineral rich state.

Governor Lawal took office in May 2023, inheriting a state on the brink of collapse, characterized by an alarming security crisis, a crippled civil service, and almost nonexistent public infrastructure. Health care services were in dire straits, effectively on the verge of comatose functionality. To evaluate governance solely based on the depth of the challenges inherited, without acknowledging the vigorous and structured efforts currently underway to rehabilitate the state, is not only unfair but does a disservice to the real progress being made. Notably, Zamfara’s internally generated revenue has surged from 90 million Naira to 2 billion Naira within just two years, illustrating a significant turnaround.

Under Governor Lawal, Zamfara is undergoing a historic, multi-faceted transformation built on three foundational pillars: Security, Infrastructure Development and Economic Revitalization, and Good Governance. His commitment to hard work and resilience has resonated throughout the state, earning him the title of “Chief Rescurer.” His administration is striving to revitalize every aspect of governance and infrastructure, steering the state toward an admirable future. Notably, the ongoing construction of the Zamfara Cargo Airport exemplifies Governor Lawal’s foresight, as it is expected to greatly enhance air travel to the state and attract foreign direct investment.

Zamfara, traditionally recognized for its agricultural potential, has bolstered growth under Governor Lawal’s policies. Initiatives such as fertilizer distribution have been initiated to ensure abundant harvests, while efforts are underway to connect farmers with offtakers, thereby increasing trade activity and ultimately promoting economic growth within the agricultural sector.

A Paradigm Shift in Security Strategy

The concept of “limited state presence” is being rigorously challenged by the emergence of a new security framework: the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG). Launched in early 2024 under the leadership of Governor Lawal, this state-sanctioned community guard represents a significant evolution in local security initiatives. As a well-structured and community-informed security outfit, the ZCPG is designed to address the unique challenges faced by the State.

Central to this initiative is the establishment of the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund, which is headed by former Inspector General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar Rtd. This fund aims to provide essential resources and support to the security agencies operating within the state. In a substantial recruitment drive, over 2,600 personnel are being meticulously vetted and deployed across 14 local government areas, tasked with the critical role of working alongside national security agencies to bolster their efforts.

The results of the ZCPG’s implementation have already begun to manifest, with noticeable improvements in security across previously volatile regions. Despite the inherent challenges of the security landscape, Governor Lawal has demonstrated a firm commitment to supporting various security agencies. This includes mobilization for critical operations, creating funds specifically for fuel to ensure that vehicles are operational, providing suitable accommodations for personnel, and distributing brand new patrol vehicles to all security agencies across the state, thereby facilitating enhanced patrol capabilities.

Moreover, Governor Lawal’s administration has placed a strong emphasis on Technology-Driven Surveillance. This involves significant investments in modern surveillance equipment and advanced communication systems, designed to amplify the effectiveness of security forces. The administration has established a framework for constant dialogue with security chiefs, thereby fostering a more coordinated and robust presence of both military and police forces. This strategic collaboration has led not only to the liberation of numerous kidnapping victims but also to the disruption and dismantling of various criminal networks operating within the state.

These initiatives put forth by Governor Lawal and the ZCPG reflect a comprehensive approach to security that prioritizes community involvement, efficient resource allocation, and the integration of modern technology. This shift is poised to create a safer environment and restore confidence among the citizens of Zamfara.

Heavy Investment in Infrastructure and Social Services

Governor Lawal’s administration is spearheading what can be described as the most ambitious infrastructure revolution in the history of our state, effectively challenging the prevailing narrative of governmental failure. Prior to his tenure, Gusau, the state capital, was plagued by neglect and deterioration, it was, by many standards, an eyesore that failed to reflect the potential of the state. However, with fresh vision and determination, Governor Lawal initiated a comprehensive remodeling of the capital aimed at elevating it to meet global standards of urban development.

At the heart of this transformation lies the audacious ‘Gusau Mega Project,’ a bold urban renewal initiative designed to revitalize the city. This project features an extensive overhaul of the road networks, introducing modern and spacious thoroughfares that facilitate smooth traffic flow and enhanced accessibility. Additionally, state-of-the-art drainage systems are being installed to mitigate flooding and improve environmental conditions, addressing a longstanding issue that has hampered urban living.

The project also prioritizes sustainability and community welfare with the introduction of environmentally friendly bus stop covers that provide shelter and comfort to commuters. Furthermore, the rollout of Bazamfara Buses for the Zamfara State Mass Transit Authority marks a significant enhancement in public transportation, offering residents reliable and efficient transit options.

In tandem with these transportation upgrades, the administration is focused on developing public facilities that restore dignity and order to our urban landscape. These facilities not only serve to improve the quality of life for citizens but also foster a sense of community pride and engagement.

Through these strategic investments in infrastructure and social services, Governor Lawal’s administration is laying the groundwork for a brighter future, ensuring that Gusau transforms into a thriving urban center that meets the needs of its residents while attracting investment and promoting economic growth.

Education Revolution: A State of Emergency in Education

In a bold move to transform the educational landscape, Governor Lawal declared a state of emergency in education in Zamfara State. With the ambitious “Education for All” initiative overhaul and rehabilitate primary and secondary schools throughout the region, ensuring that every child has access to a quality education.

For many years, students in Zamfara State faced significant barriers to their academic progress, notably being unable to sit for crucial examinations like the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO). This troubling situation stemmed from the substantial funds owed to these examination bodies by the previous administration, amounting to an alarming N1.5 billion. Recognizing the critical importance of education for the state’s future, Governor Dauda took decisive action to clear this outstanding debt, enabling students to participate in these vital assessments.

Beyond clearing the backlog, Governor Dauda made a significant financial commitment to strengthen the educational sector. His administration has invested in revamping schools, many of which have been modernized with state-of-the-art learning equipment designed to facilitate an engaging and effective learning environment. Classrooms are being equipped with the latest technology, and teachers are receiving the support and resources they need to deliver high-quality education.

The state has embarked on the establishment of a fully equipped modern Computer-Based Testing (CBT) center. This facility will empower students to take their computer-based tests and examinations locally, eliminating the need for them to travel out of the state. This initiative not only enhances accessibility but also minimizes the associated travel costs and logistical challenges.

Through these comprehensive reforms and investments, the administration is committed to ensuring that every student in Zamfara State receives the education they deserve, paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future. The “Education for All” initiative is not just a program; it is a promise to the children of Zamfara State that the Government is dedicated to unlocking their full potential.

Healthcare Revitalization:

Zamfara has renovates and re-equipped general hospitals and primary healthcare centers across the state to ensure quality healthcare is accessible to the people. In the area of health care delivery, the state has improved significantly. Governor Lawal has made significant strides in improving healthcare infrastructure by inaugurating fully renovated and equipped General Hospitals across key locations in Zamfara State, including Gusau, Anka, Maradun, Maru, Kaura, and Nasarawa Burkullu. These hospitals now feature state-of-the-art amenities designed to enhance patient care and medical services. Among the modernized facilities are Accident and Emergency Units, Special Care Baby Units (SCBUs), Maternity Wards, Radiology Departments, Dental Clinics, Orthopaedic Wards, and Operating Theatres, each equipped to meet the diverse health needs of the population. For instance, in Anka, the governor unveiled a comprehensive facility upgrade that included the construction of a new laboratory, maternity unit, and emergency services department. Additionally, patient wards and pharmacy blocks underwent extensive refurbishment, resulting in improved environments for both patients and healthcare professionals. To complement these enhancements, the administration has acquired advanced medical equipment essential for modern healthcare, including diagnostic imaging tools and surgical instruments.

Agricultural Resuscitation:

Recognizing that insecurity crippled the states agrarian economy, Zamfara state provided support to farmers through the distribution of fertilizers, improved seedlings, and facilitating access to secure farmlands to restore Zamfara’s status as a food basket. As part of these efforts, the state has successfully distributed an impressive 59,205 bags of fertilisers, utilising 98 trucks for logistics. This extensive distribution is a crucial intervention, as it directly empowers local farmers to maximise productivity during the upcoming wet season, an essential period for crop cultivation. In addition to fertilisers, the initiative includes the provision of 34,800 kilograms of rice seeds and 80,000 kilograms of maize seeds, which are key staples for the state. Furthermore, the government has distributed 23,740 litres of herbicides, 11,735 litres of insecticides, and 23,470 sachets of seed dressing chemicals, all of which are vital in enhancing crop yields and ensuring the health of the crops.

Restoring the Pillars of Good Governance

Governor Lawal’s administration is firmly grounded in the principles of transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility, which are essential for fostering public trust and effective governance. Under his leadership, the state recently held its 52nd State Executive Council meeting, a significant milestone where key topics such as budget performance and various pressing issues affecting the state’s development were thoroughly discussed. These gatherings not only facilitate transparency but also ensure that decision-making processes are inclusive and reflective of the diverse needs within the community.

In line with its commitment to accountability, the state government publishes its budget performance annually. This comprehensive report details expenditures, revenue sources, and overall financial performance, allowing citizens to see exactly how public funds are utilized. Furthermore, Governor Lawal’s administration maintains an open-door policy, actively engaging with traditional institutions, community leaders, and stakeholders. This approach fosters unity and collective action, essential for addressing the multifaceted challenges facing the state.

Regular engagement meetings with the Commissioner of Budget are also held to critically assess budget performance and identify areas needing enhancement. This proactive outreach has contributed to significant advancements in fiscal accountability. Notably, the administration has successfully resolved a substantial portion of the inherited debt, including the payment of overdue gratuities owed to civil servants and pensioners from previous administrations, demonstrating a commitment to honoring obligations and supporting those who have served the state.

Remarkably, under Governor Lawal’s stewardship, Zamfara state has not taken out any loans from the Federal Government or external sources. Instead, the administration has effectively funded capital projects through prudent financial management and visionary leadership. By implementing stringent financial controls, the Governor has safeguarded public resources, ensuring that every Naira allocated is used for the benefit of the community.

Governor Dauda Lawal transforms Zamfara into the most improved state in Nigeria

While acknowledging the state’s complex security situation, it is crucial to recognize that Zamfara is on a determined path toward recovery and prosperity. The label of “worst governed” reflects a painful past but does not accurately capture the dynamic present or the promising future being forged by the current administration. Local and international organizations are advised to go beyond sensational headlines and conduct thorough fact-finding missions to gain a deeper understanding of the state’s progress and challenges. Current data available illustrates that Zamfara is on the right trajectory, with decisive actions being taken to address its issues.

Before 2023, Zamfara state was so neglected that a low-performing governor would have been hailed for accomplishing a mere fraction of just 5% of what Governor Lawal has done in just two years in charge. He didn’t just meet that low bar; he shattered it, achieving all of this in a stunning two-year period.

Under Governor Lawal, Zamfara has opened its arm wide for partnerships and invites collaborative efforts. With the steadfast leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, the state will soon serve as a benchmark for successful post-conflict transformation in Nigeria, showcasing resilience, innovation, and a commitment to sustainable governance.

Some Lessons in Leadership for the Architects of Tomorrow

Some Lessons in Leadership for the Architects of Tomorrow.

My Research about the Power of Ethical Leadership in Nation-Building.

A Call from History.

In the chronicles of African history, amidst the turbulence of post-colonial struggles and the shadows of corruption, there exist luminous episodes that stand as blueprints for transformative leadership. These stories are not mere anecdotes; they are moral compasses, urging us to reimagine governance as a sacred trust.

Some Lessons in Leadership for the Architects of Tomorrow.
By George Omagbemi Sylvester | Published by SaharaWeeklyNG.com

One such account, drawn from the annals of the 1970s, unveils a profound lesson in integrity, vision and national development. It is a story not only about TWO PRESIDENT’S but about TWO PATHS: one that reflects GENEROSITY and the other that demonstrates PURPOSE. Together, they offer timeless guidance for today’s leaders and the architects of tomorrow’s world.

A Tale of Two Presidents: Generosity Meets Purpose.

The year was 1973. General Mobutu Sese Seko, then-President of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), embarked on a state visit to Mauritania. At that time, Mauritania was one of the poorest countries in Africa, still grappling with the harsh realities of nationhood after its liberation from French colonial rule.

Leading this fledgling republic was President Moktar Ould Daddah, Mauritania’s first head of state. A man of modesty and simplicity, Moktar carried himself with quiet dignity. Yet, during the visit, Mobutu noticed something that struck him deeply. Over the course of three days of discussions and public appearances, Moktar wore the same suit.

For Mobutu, who was accustomed to the opulence of Parisian tailors and the pomp of presidential life, this was a startling revelation. His Mauritanian counterpart clearly lacked the resources to indulge in the luxuries befitting a head of state. Moved by this realization, Mobutu made a discreet gesture. He presented a check for $5 million to President Moktar’s secretary, accompanied by a note suggesting addresses of renowned Paris fashion houses. The intention was unmistakable: to help his host acquire a wardrobe that reflected the stature of a president.

A Gift Redirected: Prioritizing Nation Over Self.

What happened next, however, etched President Moktar’s name into the history books as a rare example of ethical leadership. When the check reached his hands, Moktar did not see it as a PERSONAL WINDFALL. Instead, he saw in it an OPPORTUNITY to ADDRESS one of Mauritania’s GREATEST CHALLENGES: the ACUTE SHORTAGE of TEACHERS.

Rather than splurge on fine clothing, he redirected the funds into the nation’s treasury. With that $5 million, Mauritania established and equipped the Higher School for Teachers Training, an institution that would become a cornerstone in the country’s fight against ILLITERACY and POVERTY.

This act was more than financial prudence. It was a bold declaration of values. Moktar made it clear that leadership is not about personal comfort but about the collective good. His choice reflected a conviction that education is the bedrock of national progress, the ONE INVESTMENT that yields GENERATIONAL DIVIDENDS.

Gratitude Etched in History.

Five years later, in 1978, Mobutu once again visited Mauritania on his way back from the United States. This time, something unexpected awaited him. The streets of Nouakchott were lined with banners and signs that read:

“Thank you, Zaire. Thank you, President Mobutu. Thank you for the gift.”

Perplexed, Mobutu turned to his host and asked why such messages adorned the capital. President Moktar then led him to the Teacher Training School and explained:

“This is your valuable gift. With the $5 million you gave five years ago, we built this institution to fight illiteracy and poverty. My people needed education not my personal extravagance.”

Mobutu, a man often criticized for his own excesses, was visibly moved. He embraced Moktar and admitted with a tone of regret:

“If only the rest of African leaders were like you, our continent would not be paralyzed by poverty, ignorance and underdevelopment.”

The True Moral Compass of Leadership.

The story of President Moktar Ould Daddah stands in stark contrast to the many African leaders who, cloaked in the rhetoric of patriotism, siphon national wealth for private indulgence. His humility and prioritization of collective progress over personal vanity set a timeless standard.

Moktar once explained his philosophy with refreshing candor:

“I draw my salary from the state treasury, so I am not working without compensation. That gift belonged to the Mauritanian people, not me. My appearance and clothing should reflect the reality of my people’s struggles. With education, we can conquer the barriers that hold us back.”

A Simplified Legacy of Service.

Even after leaving office, President Moktar maintained a life of simplicity. He passed away in 2003, leaving behind not palaces or secret accounts but a legacy of moral clarity. His residence (a modest three-room house) stood as a symbol of his disdain for luxury and his commitment to public service as a sacred trust.

This modest lifestyle amplified his credibility. It reminded the world that leadership is about stewardship, not ownership. Moktar’s story embodies a principle that must be restored in African governance: public service is a duty, not an entitlement.

The Challenge to Today’s Leaders.

This story is more than a HISTORICAL ANECDOTE; it is a mirror reflecting the moral choices confronting leaders today. It raises uncomfortable but necessary questions:

Do our leaders see power as a PLATFORM for SERVICE or a LICENSE for SELF-ENRICHMENT?

Do they measure success by the number of CARS in their CONVOYS or by the number of SCHOOLS and HOSPITALS they BUILD?

Do they embody the STRUGGLES of their PEOPLE, or do they INSULATE themselves in GLASS TOWERS far removed from REALITY?

For leaders who exploit the rhetoric of patriotism while pillaging their nations, Moktar’s story stands as a rebuke. For aspiring leaders, it is an invitation to emulate the virtues of selflessness, accountability and vision.

Modern Comparisons: Leadership in Our Time.

When we contrast Moktar’s legacy with modern realities, the lesson becomes even sharper. In Nigeria today, BILLIONS of NAIRA are squandered on LUXURY CONVOYS, PRESIDENTIAL PALACES and FOREIGN MEDICAL TRIPS, while PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES remain underfunded and doctors flee abroad. In South Africa, millions are wasted in corruption scandals like “STATE CAPTURE,” even as young people march for jobs and education.

Globally, we can see parallels. Leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Julius Nyerere chose modesty and service over personal enrichment. Mandela famously declared:

“Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.”

He lived those words, donating part of his salary and keeping his Soweto home even as president.

Similarly, Nyerere, affectionately called Mwalimu (the teacher), left office without riches but with dignity. He reminded us that:

“Leadership is not about power or privilege, it is about responsibility.”

On the economic front, leaders like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala continue to show that integrity is not a weakness in governance but a strength. As she often notes:

“Corruption is dangerous because it distorts priorities, diverts resources and destroys trust.”

In stark contrast, leaders like Mobutu himself, who amassed billions while Zaire collapsed or others who loot their nations under the guise of patriotism, serve as cautionary tales. Their wealth bought them fleeting comfort, but their legacies remain symbols of betrayal.

Building a Future Through Ethical Leadership.

Tomorrow’s leaders must recognize that the strength of a nation lies not in its mineral wealth or natural resources but in its people, its institutions and its commitment to justice and equity. Education remains the most potent weapon against poverty and inequality.

As President Moktar demonstrated, a single ethical decision can echo across generations. One redirected gift built an institution that produced thousands of teachers, each shaping the minds of future leaders, workers and citizens. From one school, a nation’s destiny was altered.

This is the power of ethical leadership. It transforms gifts into opportunities, resources into institutions and moments into legacies.

A Legacy to Embrace.

The story of Moktar Ould Daddah is a beacon for the architects of tomorrow’s world. It is a reminder that integrity, humility and vision are not outdated ideals but essential tools for nation-building.

As Africa continues to grapple with corruption, inequality and underdevelopment, leaders must look back to examples like Moktar’s and draw courage to chart a different path. His legacy tells us that simplicity is not weakness, that service is not servitude and that ethical choices (no matter how small) can reshape a nation’s future.

Let this story inspire leaders across the globe to act with courage, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the collective good. In the words of President Moktar himself:

“With education, we can defeat the plagues that hinder our progress.”

This, indeed, is an amazing legacy to truly embrace without biased intentions.
