On social media at the moment, Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele is being dragged for making a statement that some Igbos find derogatory against them.

Primate Ayodele, in a video, had said that the Igbos are battling a curse that is standing against their presidency and that if they don’t cleanse the curse, it will be difficult to get the presidential seat.

He also said that Igbos are the problem of Nigeria. Although what he intended to reference was the secession movements which started with some Igbos with the creation of IPOB, MASSOB and other groups.

His intention was to mention that those who started these movements are within the tribe, but unfortunately, he was misquoted and many have accused the man of God of spreading hatred against the tribe.

However, checks by us have revealed that Primate Ayodele indeed loves the Igbos, like he loves the Yoruba and Hausa. This was evident in some of the things he has done for the Igbos, and they include:

1. Creation of Igbo service: As a church in Lagos, it’s expected that the majority of members would be Yoruba speaking because of the region of the church. However, Primate Ayodele’s church grew to become one that accepts everyone, and due to that, he created a special service for the Igbo community to make them feel among in the church. The Igbo service is always the first service in his church, and after the service, he creates time to see those who may need him to counsel them or provide assistance for them.
2. All-inclusive pastorate: Despite being a Yoruba man, Primate Ayodele ensured that Igbos are represented in his church’s pastorate. At the moment, one of his assistant pastors, who is by name Walter Akachukwu, is an Igbo man, who attends with all his family members after seeing how good the man of God is to everyone, including the Igbos.
3. Philanthropy: Primate Ayodele always ensures his benevolent acts don’t escape the Igbos. Last month, his assistant pastor, Walter Akachukwu, was shocked when the prophet changed the roofing of his house because it was leaking. Still the  same month, the prophet gave Akachukwu N1 Million cash to celebrate his 80^th
4. Fundraising: Recently, a church member, by name, Mr Emmanuel, was given the sum of N10 Million by Primate Ayodele as support towards his kidney transplant process. Beyond that, Primate Ayodele used the moment to call on governors, foundations, eand ven church members to support the ailing member, who is an Igbo person.
5. Pilgrimage sponsorship: Primate Ayodele has sponsored a countless number of people to Jerusalem, and they include Igbos too. He has never seized any opportunity for anyone because they are Igbos.

In March 2024, Primate Elijah Ayodele, in an interview, called on the Nigerian Police and military formations to quickly work on kidnapping in Nigerian academic institutions, as there were plans to abduct students from schools.

This warning was published in several Nigerian newspapers, and in his words, the prophet called on President Tinubu to give it all it takes because the terrorists, which he said were new groups, would spread to other states to perpetrate the acts if they were not seriously tackled.

He made this revelation shortly after a similar incident happened in Kaduna.

These were his words:

 “It is no longer Boko Haram or any existing group that is behind these kidnappings; it is a new group, and they will soon name it. It’s a new terrorism syndicate that must be defeated. We should commit our military in prayers to defeat terrorism; we must not allow terrorists to ruin this government.

‘’These terrorists want to scare people from going to school, they want to destroy the future of this country, but Tinubu shouldn’t agree. He should cooperate with the security outfits to defeat terrorism.

‘’If the government doesn’t act on this, they are ready to move to other states. The government must wake up and curb this now if not, school children will be kidnapped in other states apart from the north.’’

In fulfilment of this prophetic warning, Terrorists in the early hours of Monday stormed the Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State, abducting an unspecified number of female students and killing at least one staff member.

A school guard was also injured during the attack, which occurred around 5:52 am.

The attackers invaded the school compound while the students were preparing for morning routines, launching their assault with sporadic gunfire.
