Obijackson Foundation ends 3-Day Staff Retreat with Maiden Walkathon in Okija, Inspiring Community-Wide Embrace of Healthy Living
Okija, Anambra State – The Obijackson Foundation has successfully held its maiden Walkathon in Okija, marking the grand conclusion of the Obijackson Group’s three-day staff retreat which brought together employees from Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, Abuja and other locations across Nigeria.
The event turned the town of Okija into a hub of energy and excitement as the Foundation’s staff were joined by the Traditional Ruler of Okija, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Emeka Nnamdi Okezie, his cabinet of chiefs, and hundreds of residents – including youths, elders, families, and fitness enthusiasts—in a vibrant show of unity, wellness, and community spirit.
The 6-kilometre Walkathon kicked off at the Obijackson Golf Course, passed through Okija Junction road, and concluded at Amaranta, cutting across several major routes in the town.
Participants began the day with guided warm-up sessions and enjoyed wellness checks, hydration points, music, and health education coordinated by volunteers and Foundation staff.
The Walkathon reflects the Foundation’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, physical activity, and community wellness, particularly in Anambra State where it continues to drive social impact through multiple initiatives.
Founder of the Obijackson Foundation, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, who participated alongside his wife, Mrs. Nnenna Obiejesi, praised the impressive turnout from both staff and community members.
He said: “I am deeply encouraged by the level of participation and enthusiasm shown today. Health and wellness remain at the centre of our mission at the Obijackson Foundation, and this Walkathon is a reminder that simple activities like walking can transform lives. ‘’Seeing our staff, community leaders, and residents come out together to embrace healthy living is truly inspiring.”
Many participants described the Walkathon as energizing and revitalizing, highlighting that it provided a rare blend of physical activity, cultural connection, and shared learning.
Obiejesi stated that the event underscored the numerous benefits of walking, including: Improved heart health and circulation; Enhanced stamina, strength, and physical fitness, Reduced stress and improved mood.

For staff of the Obijackson Group, the Walkathon was also a refreshing conclusion to their intensive three-day annual retreat an opportunity to reset, reconnect, and re-energise.
The three-day retreat was hosted at the Acropolis Resort in Okija, a modern facility under the Obijackson Group designed to support corporate gatherings, executive strategy sessions, team-building activities, and wellness-based engagements.

Our community has enjoyed peace for centuries, and we are committed to preserving that legacy.
It has come to our attention that Mr. Aliu Abiodun Abdul-Salam has been parading himself as the Baale of Abule Egba and falsely presenting Abule Egba as Awori land.
We strongly emphasize that there is nothing like “Awori land” in Abule Egba, and we urge the general public to disregard such misleading claims.
AUTHENTIC TRADITIONAL LEADERSHIP
The legitimate and recognized Baale of Abule Egba remains Chief Gabriel Sunday Omotosho, who is alive, active, and performing his duties.
Any attempt by any individual to usurp this respected traditional stool is unlawful, misleading, and capable of causing community unrest.
HISTORICAL FACTS AND ROYAL LINEAGE
Abule Egba is historically an Egba settlement, with the Baaki Adedipe Royal Family among the first settlers who have lived peacefully for centuries alongside other ruling houses and customary tenants.
We restate that:
There is nothing like an Osunbiyi Royal Family in Abule Egba.
Abule Egba is Egba land, fully backed by historical records and archival evidence.
Awori land claims in Abule Egba are false, misleading, and historically inaccurate.
As stated by Kazeem Adedipe of the Baaki Adedipe Royal House,
“We do not want what has happened in other places concerning chieftaincy and land issues to happen in Abule Egba.”

If he desires to become a Baale, he should return to his own village, not attempt to impose himself on our land.
