Sahara Weekly Reports That The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated that his administration would continue to accord culture, tradition and community development a pride of place in the scheme of things.

He also noted that his administration understood the all embracing role of culture as a very integral component in community development.

Abiodun who made this known while speaking at the 2022 Itori Day celebration, declared that his administration would do everything to continue to support the sustenance of the Itori Day celebration and other cultural festivals.

The governor also noted that culture goes a long way in describing who we are as a people, adding that it was important for the people to continue to celebrate culture so that it won’t go into extinction.

“Let me assure you, we will continue to do everything to continue to support the sustenance of this all important Itori Day celebration. We will continue to ensure that we give culture, tradition and community development a pride of place because we understand the all embracing role of culture as a very integral component in community development.

“Our culture goes a long way in describing who we are, how far we have gone and why we are where we are and we must continue to celebrate our culture so that our children and grandchildren can be bequeathed with our history,” he said.

Abiodun, while adding that the celebration of cultural festivals is a marriage between cultural development and community development, said that the celebration would continue to be a rallying point for all sons and daughters of the community.

The state helmsman who commended the monarch of the town, Oba Fatai Akamo, for embracing the philosophy of self help and self reliance for the development of his community, said that his administration would continue to support the town and its monarch.

“The philosophy of self help and self reliance cannot be better demonstrated by none other than the Olu of Itori himself, he is very versatile and driven. When you see a monarch whose preoccupation is to develop his community, who is extremely enterprising and goes out of his way to look for ways to uplift his people, we must continue to support such a monarch. We will continue to support you based on all what you have demonstrated in terms of passion for developing your people and community,” he said.

Abiodun, however, called on the people of the town to go all out and get their permanent voter’s card, saying that “as the 2023 general election draws closer, our administration will not tolerate any form of cultism and thuggery”.

In his remarks, Oba Fatai Akorede Alamo, while commending the good character of Governor Abiodun, said that the Progressive Monarchs in the state are fully behind his second term ambition.

Akamo who also acknowledged the governor for looking out for the welfare of monarchs in the state, thanked him for not being partial about the distribution of developmental projects across the state.
