The statement reads: “The Association of Supervisory Councilors and other political appointees of Ijebu East Local Government has expressed our displeasure with the manner with which the Local Government Chairman is going about alleging and casting aspersions on the person of H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State.

“We want to sincerely say we are not in tandem with his actions and wouldn’t have been in support of any actions that will stall progress and development of the Local Government under any guise whatsoever.

“It is also note worthy to state emphatically that we are not part of the spurious the allegations raised against the Governor of Ogun State who have on several occasions sent monies in batches to the Local Government for development.

“The Chairman, in his own words, has said in his 2023 Budget Speech that the Ijebu East LG Council received N50 million (fifty million naira) from the state government in 2022 and generated another N50 million as IGR in 2022 totaling N100 million (One hundred million. “On several occasions, spendings have been carried out without relating with other members of the cabinet Documents of financial transactions and approvals were never given to the Cabinet members as they are always secretly done between the Chairman, the HOLGA and the Treasurer. We Cabinet members have remain m figure-heads for long. Though, no charges have been made public, but we urge the State Government and the House of Assembly to set up Committees to look into the spendings of the Local Government since 2001 and know its true financial State.

We once again state unequivocally that we remain loyal and committed to the mission and vision of the State for the advancement and development of Ijebu East Local Government and therefore disassociate ourselves totally from the ignoble actions displayed in the last two days by the Local Government Chairman, Mr. Wale Adedayo

*UN International Day For Solidarity with Palestine: TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation Calls for Permanent Ceasefire

In a bid to support peace and stability in the Middle East, the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation has called for a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. This plea comes on the occasion of the UN International Day for Solidarity with Palestine.

The foundation’s Chairman, Amb Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani Sadaukin Garkuwan Keffi, and Betara of Biu and the grand patron of the foundation, His Excellency Amb Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai Rtd CFR Betara of Biu, have expressed deep sorrow and concern over the colossal lost of lifes and damage to property in Gaza. The foundation, known for its unwavering commitment to humanity and desire to alleviate the suffering of those affected by conflicts worldwide, is calling for an end to the violence and the protection of innocent lives.

As the Israel-Hamas temporary truce enters it’s fifth day, there seems to be a ray of hope as both sides completed their fourth releases of captives from Gaza in exchange for Palestinians held in Israeli jails and vice versa. Mediators have stated that the process will continue, indicating a potential breakthrough in the negotiations.

Qatar, along with Egypt, has played a crucial role in facilitating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas. Qatar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, announced that an agreement has been reached to extend the original four-day truce by two more days. This extension provides an opportunity for both sides to release more individuals, further fostering an atmosphere of peace and reconciliation.

While progress is being made, it is essential to remember the plight of the occupied people of Palestine. The foundation urges everyone to take a moment to pray for the innocent civilians, especially the children, who have been affected by the ongoing conflict. It is a time to condemn the senseless violence and hope that the negotiations on the ground will lead to a lasting resolution.

The TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that promotes peace, stability, and the well-being of individuals affected by conflicts worldwide. With the call for a permanent ceasefire, the foundation emphasizes the importance of dialogue and understanding in resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict.

As the negotiations continue, the foundation joins the international community in praying for a swift end to the war and a brighter future for the people of Palestine.

SDP thugs invade INEC Office in Kogi, as APC calls for Ajaka, supporters’ arrest

Some supporters of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State stormed the State Secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , in Lokoja, on Wednesday, to protest against what they termed “INEC’s dubious tampering with election materials”.
Security agencies, however, moved in on time to prevent an attack on the INEC Office, dispersing the protesters with tear gas and barricading the road leading to the office.

The protest, which was monitored by our correspondent, started peacefully, until some of the protesters, who behaved like thugs, started throwing harmful objects and harassing passers-by.

The SDP protesters were demanding that the election materials be moved to Abuja.

One of the protesters who identified himself as Danjuma told newsmen that they were sure the materials at the INEC Office had been compromised by the APC.

“We have it on good authority that the APC and Yahaya Bello have tampered with the election materials. The materials they are taking to the tribunal have already been doctored. So, we are calling on INEC to take the original material to INEC, or we will make Kogi State ungovernable.
“Those who stole the mandate of Kogi East must not live to enjoy it. We are calling on the President and also the National Chairman of INEC to ensure the doctored materials are immediately replaced with the original ones before they are presented at the tribunal. Anything other than that will be resisted,” he said.
When contacted, the Director, Media and Publicity/Spokesperson of the Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council, Kingsley Fanwo, dismissed the allegations as senseless and called on the authorities to call the SDP candidate, Murtala Ajaka, and his supporters to order.
He said the APC would assess the situation and issue an official statement on it later, noting that “the SDP people know they have no evidence to back their claims. They are playing the victim to cover their shame.”
He, however, said the SDP should allow the Tribunal to sit peacefully and give INEC the breathing space to do their work as required by the law.
Usman Ododo of the APC won the November 11 governorship election with a wide margin, polling 446,237 votes to defeat his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the SDP, who got 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 46,362 votes.
Below is the statement from Fanwo:
KOGI APC GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN COUNCIL
PRESS RELEASE
CONFUSED SDP HARASSING INEC, PLAYING VICTIM – APC CAMPAIGN COUNCIL
. SAYS PARTY HAS NO EVIDENCE TO BACK RIGGING CLAIMS
. ‘ALLEGATIONS AGAINST APC SENSELESS’
1. Today’s failed attack by supporters and thugs of the Social Democratic Party to attack the State INEC Office in Lokoja has confirmed our recent alarm that the party is determined to destroy every relevant government institution just to maintain their false claim to popularity.
2. The attempted plan to lynch INEC staff and burn down the INEC Office was gallantly averted by security agents. Their promptness and professionalism is highly commended as their timely intervention saved what would have been a bloody day as weapon-wielding thugs of the SDP were dangerously threatening to make the state ungovernable.
3. The laughable story of the SDP that the thugs were hired by our party is no deviation from their culture of terrible and senseless propaganda and strategy to blame everyone else for their own actions. It is high time the thoroughly defeated candidate of the SDP and his co-travellers to an unknown destination are arrested to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
4. We call on APC supporters to remain law abiding in the face of glaring provocation. War is about using one’s best to the worst to oneself. The Governor-Elect will be sworn in on January 27, 2024 to advance the frontiers of development in our dear state.
5. As earlier stated, we wish to reiterate our readiness for any legal challenge as we know we won an election adjudged as the freest and fairest in the history of our dear state.

Spokesperson/Director of Media and Publicity.
