SHOW OF DISGRACE! ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH PASTORS, MEMBERS BEAT ONE ANOTHER SILLY OVER LEADERSHIP TUSSLE + WHY POLICE LOCKED DOWN THE CHURCH

Published

on

The lingering crises rocking the Assemblies of God Church , Nigeria has taken a dangerous twist as two pastors and their followers engaged in a free for all fight disrupting the Sunday service.

Information available to Sahara Weekly revealed that It was a show of shame in Enugu on Sunday, July 19, 2015 as two pastors and their loyalists engaged themselves in fisticuffs at Mount Street Parish of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria. Our source revealed to us that the dangerous turn began over who among the two factions should take over the service.

“The drama started when one of the pastors, Rev. Nathaniel Udeze, came with letters of posting and other court documents as part of preparations to be installed as the new pastor at the parish.

He was promptly resisted upon arrival with his team of supporters.

Leading the opposition was current resident pastor of the parish, Reverend Amaechi Agbo, who along with his supporters, also vowed not to allow Pastor Udeze take over, accusing him of being an “intruder.”

The incoming pastor Udeze, said to have been very furious, insisted that he had been officially posted there by the leadership of the church under Rev. Paul Emeka.

He also insisted that Rev. Agbo had been transferred to another parish since May 2015.
Howver, Rev Agbo disagreed, insisting that he was still in-charge of the parish as he was yet to be formally written by Rev. Okoroafor’s leadership of the church, which he recognised.

Factional Sunday school Service

Trouble started as early as 7a.m., when supporters of both pastors arrived and started sharing different versions of Sunday school manual in preparation for the main service.

When the factional pastors arrived, the situation broke down completely as the pastors started shoving each other and shortly afterwards, members of the two factions engaged in fisticuffs.
Divisional Police Officer, Dennis Ayara, who later got to the scene, made frantic efforts to bring the situation under control through negotiation, but to no avail.

The police, therefore, cordoned off the church and put it under lock, while the leaders of the two factions were asked to report to the station”.

It would be recalled that the leadership crisis rocking the Assemblies of God Church had been lingering for more than three years as two persons, Professor Paul Emeka and Dr. Chidi Okoroafor, are each laying claims to the leadership of the church, a position known as General Superintendent, a matter that is currently before the Supreme Court.

Activist Dele Farotimi Still Faces Four Lawsuits Despite Afe Babalola’s Case Withdrawal

Activist Dele Farotimi Still Faces Four Lawsuits Despite Afe Babalola’s Case Withdrawal

Activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, revealed on Sunday that he still faces four separate lawsuits filed by members of the Aare Afe Babalola law office, despite the withdrawal of criminal charges against him.

Farotimi made the disclosure during the Toyin Falola Interviews, themed “Politics, Law, and Society.” His revelation followed the announcement on January 27 by Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, that cases against Farotimi would be withdrawn after the intervention of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and other traditional rulers.

Activist Dele Farotimi Still Faces Four Lawsuits Despite Afe Babalola’s Case Withdrawal

The suits stem from a defamation claim over Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, which led to his arrest and trial for alleged criminal defamation and cyber-bullying in Ekiti State courts. While the criminal charges were withdrawn after Babalola’s petition was rescinded, Farotimi revealed ongoing civil cases in multiple states.

“My inability to speak to certain aspects of this issue is borne out of the fact that, despite the discontinuation of the criminal proceeding, I still have four suits that I am aware of, in four different states, filed by members of the same law office,” Farotimi explained.

He emphasized that his book is a well-researched critique of systemic corruption in Nigeria’s judiciary. “I did not sit down in a beer parlour or gossip,” he stated. “I wrote a book. Let us deal with veracity. Anybody can go and read it, then challenge me with the lie that I have told.”

Farotimi dismissed suggestions that the lawsuits are personal attacks. “This is not a trial of Dele Farotimi. It is a trial of the legal system that we have built as a collective,” he asserted.

He further clarified that his book was written to highlight institutional failings rather than to tarnish individuals’ reputations, particularly that of Chief Afe Babalola. “Chief Afe Babalola is more than old enough to be my father. I did not set out to destroy the man. I was writing about the institution of the judiciary,” Farotimi said.

Farotimi criticized those who dismissed his book without reading it, calling such actions “intellectually lazy.” He also stressed the importance of Nigerians engaging with difficult truths if the country is to see meaningful reform. “We have built a system that rewards deception and punishes truth. I am being sued not because I have lied, but because I have dared to speak the truth.”

With the lawsuits ongoing, Farotimi’s battle for free speech and judicial reform continues.

Nedu Wazobia Bows Out of The Honest Bunch Podcast Amidst Verydarkman Controversy

Popular On-Air Personality (OAP) Nedu Wazobia has officially announced his exit from The Honest Bunch podcast following a week of intense public scrutiny and social media drama involving controversial activist Verydarkman.

Nedu Wazobia Bows Out of The Honest Bunch Podcast Amidst Verydarkman Controversy

The controversy began when reality star Deeone appeared on the podcast and insinuated that Verydarkman had a romantic interest in men. Instead of addressing Deeone’s claims, Verydarkman redirected his anger at Nedu Wazobia, revealing alleged personal secrets that Nedu had supposedly confided in him—including claims about women Nedu had reportedly been involved with.

The fallout from these accusations caused a social media frenzy, with fans and critics weighing in on both sides. The tension reached a breaking point, prompting Nedu Wazobia to issue a formal statement on Instagram explaining his decision to step down.

In the heartfelt statement, Nedu expressed gratitude for the platform and shared his reasons for leaving:

**“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll.

In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself.

I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best path forward.”**

Nedu also expressed his hope that his departure would ease the negativity surrounding his name and allow the podcast to thrive without further controversy.

“I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the negativity surrounding my name and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving. I remain committed to fostering dialogue in ways that encourage meaningful engagement and growth, and I look forward to new opportunities that align with that vision.”

Fans and colleagues have since flooded Nedu’s social media with mixed reactions—some expressing disappointment over his exit, while others praised him for prioritizing his mental health and dignity in the face of relentless attacks.

The Honest Bunch podcast team has yet to issue an official statement on Nedu’s departure. Meanwhile, Verydarkman’s accusations continue to stir debates across social media platforms.

As the dust settles, all eyes remain on The Honest Bunch to see how the show will navigate its future without one of its key hosts.
