The telecommunication company is quietly clearing out its closet. In the last 24 hours, reports have had it that Wizkid, Wande Coal, Burna Boy and Sammie Okposo have been dropped as Globacom brand ambassadors. Even singing duo, P-Square have been one of Glo’s longest serving ambassadors having signed a huge N240m deal back in 2010 have been dropped too.

One half of the group, Peter made it known via his Twitter account handle. According to reports, GLO has been involved in a lot of messy scandal and huge debts during the year, which could have been a reason they dropped their artistes as ambassadors.

    ps

Among the list of those dropped, Wizkid can be regarded as the only one whose contract suffered a short-term as he was just signed last year after parting ways with MTN. However, Timaya still remains a Glo ambassador as he confirms through his instagram account.

It was also gathered that each of them receive at least N120Million as annual fee as ambassadors except for P-Square who receive N240Million because it consists of two people, hence, Glo will be saving around N720Million by taking this step.

“Pastors Should Obey God, Not Politicians” – Apostle Johnson Suleman

    img_20161026_1503511

Among pastors of great flocks today, a select few emit the passion for giving. One of this very few is Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide. Suleman is a perfect example of this tradition of old. It is always a moment of joy and fulfillment for members of his ministry and even strangers, the less privileged including widows, widowers and vulnerable children when he blesses them during his regular charity scheme. Of recent, Suleman had embarked on a wide range of aids to different categories of people, from the nameless to celebrities. The latest flow from Suleman’s milk of kindness was a donation of $7,000 (seven thousand dollars) cash he made to the New Day Youth And Family Services, Oklahoma during the Tulsa Raw Power Conference which took place two weeks ago.

In this interview, the firebrand preacher who will be having the next leg of his ministry’s Raw Power this week Tuesday in London, states candidly his views about his mission, the Church, men of God, and other issues of interest.

    Excerpt…

Please share with us your mission in Ibadan. Was it just an evangelistic event or it included the process of training and outreach?

Our mission to Ibadan was like one of our Raw Power crusades that we have held in different cities in the country and different parts of the world from time to time. Actually, all our meetings are all encompassing and complete package of Ministry which include evangelistic events, process of training and outreaches and more.

Many committed Christians have never shared their faith because they don’t know how or they are afraid. Are your programmes planned towards preparing this category of believers for this?

Yes, of course. The programme is for all. We had such encounters before of people who only saw us from afar off to take decision of their lives. But when they drew closer, they discovered that they have actually missed a lot for the time they have stood aloof.

New believers naturally add vitality to congregational life and worship. What are the process being designed through your crusades to bring new believers into the ministry and how are they going to be encouraged in spiritual growth?

To start with, it is the Joy of every pastor to see that the coming in of new converts add vitality to congregational life and worship. The major aim of every meeting is to bring in new souls for the Lord. Apart from the general advertisement done, it is the Lord that saves souls as there is no salvation in any other name except the name of Jesus. As for the way to encourage the new believers in spiritual growth, sound teaching and proper discipline are involved. When this is done, they will turn out to do for the Lord what we are doing now.

Building a dream team defines what it truly means for the church to win. How does a Bible-believing church build God’s dream team?

What is a dream team for the Lord?  It’s a team that will do what the Lord commands and plan big for the Lord. Having a dream team for the Lord is the very ultimate for passing Christian Leadership batons to other generations. Jesus gave us a solid clue as to that effect in John Gospel 15:6 that “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”

Everyone being raised up by the Lord to form part of this great team will be brought up in the fear of God, empowered to teach others also as Apostle Paul carried his own out and said in 2Tim.2:2 that “And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.” If all these are done, passing Christianity to the next generation will not be a problem.

As a leading pastor you preach on various moral, ethical, and social issues from a biblical standpoint but you are cautious while expressing personal opinions on political issues. How much prerogative do pastors have to address these issues or there are written guidelines against speaking personally on politics?

In Nigeria as it were, it is very hard and difficult for people to place politics rightly without attaching evils to it. This is what brings pastors’ intervention and prerogative into the affairs. Actually, Pastors should not be a partisan to any political affairs of any party but we cannot fold our hands when things are going bad. Since the government of any nation belongs to God, divine affairs in it are necessary but some politicians are found most times to use pastors as cover despite the evils perpetrated. There should be a restrain from pastors so that God’s name is not dragged in disrepute and for future testimonies.

How can those in leadership set a high standard of godly behaviour and avoid representing evil?

Leadership in a godly way or in an evil way is a Personal issue, and it all depends on the lifestyle of every Individual. Whether we are looking at it from a Religious or secular perspective, no leader can set high standard of godly behaviour and avoid representing evil without having fear of God and good heart. So, the way out and the way forward for whoever wishes to lead well is to follow well and fear God.

Pastors regularly teach and minister to others from the pulpit. Those outside the pulpit, how effectively can they mentor, coach, instruct the people in the way of God?

The effectiveness in and of pastoral mentorship, coaching and instructing people in the way of the Lord depends on several factors around the person involved: How trained is the trainer? How mentored is the mentor? The Personal lifestyle of the coach because most times our attitude forms a better coaching style for the people. How close is the coach to God or how much of God he/she has? The type of heart possessed by the mentor. The dedication of the mentor and the mentee towards the mentorship, individual focus on the assignments and the right consideration of these factors, makes mentorship easy.

You are regularly inspired to give. How often are you moved to give?

We give when the need arises and when the Lord directs.

What do you perceive the condition of the Church to be today? Where is the Church doing well, and where do significant improvements need to be made?

The condition of the church today is good but not as it was in the time of old popularly known as the old time religion. There is no love, unity and one voice among the ministers and generally in the Body of Christ. Ministries oppress ministries with styles, pastors oppress pastors in disguise. Members oppress members with their lifestyle. All these are the end time signs. As for the area the church is doing well, the Lord is adding to the church daily and God is raising the end time army that will take the gospel far. The significant improvements needed are the areas where we are falling short as stated above. The church should return to love that is the greatest.

A pastor who wishes to balance church, marriage, family and God’s work, how accessible should he or she be?

Accessibility to pastors who wish to balance church ministry, marriage, family and God’s work is determined by the nature of his or her calling and his or her personal strength to receive people. Men and women of God can be very busy for the Lord and yet still be very accessible. This is occasioned by individual principles, the planning of time and schedule created.

What are the skills that help you the most in carrying out your pastoral assignment?

Every successful ministry should be founded on working godly principles such as, understanding God, understand yourself, understand your call or your assignments, understand the people you are pastoring and understand your environment.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured a court order to hold a detained former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed.

The EFCC has also granted the former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati, an administrative bail.

A competent source in the commission said on Thursday that the commission decided to secure the order to detain the ex-FCT minister because the operatives in charge of his case had not concluded ongoing investigations.

It was stated that the operatives were still grilling the former minister, who was arrested on Monday.

The source stated, “Today, the commission secured a court order to detain the former Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed.

“Nobody can say exactly when he would be released because as I said, the man is still undergoing interrogation.”

The EFCC is investigating the former minister for alleged fictitious contracts worth N1bn, allocation of 12 choice properties and 37 commercial plots to a suspected front.

It was learnt that the commission was also looking into an alleged controversial Abuja land swap deal valued at N1tn.

Prior to the arrest of the former minister, the commission had interrogated some top directors of the FCT in connection with the ongoing probe.

The Director of Treasury, Ibrahim Bomoi; his counterpart in charge of Land, Babayo Mainasara; the Director in charge of Abuja Geographical Information Service, Ms Jamila Tangaza; the son of the former minister, Samshudeen Bala; and one Tariq Hammoud were among those who were interrogated by the EFCC.

Also, the owners of 16 companies involved in the deals were said to have been invited for interrogation.

The commission was said to have seized some houses valued at N872m from the ex-minister and three other duplexes valued at N225m from the son of the minister.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has granted administrative bail to the detained former Special Adviser to Jonathan on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati.

A source in the commission, who confided in our correspondent, said Abati was granted administrative bail by the commission on Wednesday.

The source added that the commission gave a condition to the former presidential spokesman to produce a service director in the Federal Civil Service as a surety, among others.

“The former Special Adviser to former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has been granted an administrative bail.

“He is still struggling to perfect the terms of the bail. It is the usual bail conditions. He is required to produce a serving director as surety and submission his passport among others,” the operative added.

Also, it was gathered that the former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, was still battling to raise N100m to satisfy the conditions for his bail.

The anti-graft agency is equally preparing to charge the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, to court on Thursday, November 10, 2016.

  • ‘ I don’t have sex and will remain like that for as long as I can hold it’ – Busty actress, Bolaji Ogunmola

‘ I don’t have sex and will remain like that for as long as I can hold it’ – Busty actress, Bolaji Ogunmola

    bolaji-ogunmola    bolaji-ogunmola

Busty Nollywood upcoming actress, Bolaji Ogunmola has made a statement which have brought about mixed feelings among her fans. She revealed that she doesn’t have sex and she just wants to hold on to it like that.

She revealed this in an interview and also talked about her career, the challenges and the glory.

    Excerpts:

Your experience at the Next Movie Star Academy?
It was a great experience and that was in 2013 if I am not mistaken. When you go for any reality show, one should understand that at some point, someone will be shown the way out irrespective of their outstanding performance. I was also evicted because I was troublesome.

An actress recently said her big boobs brought her to limelight, should we expect such statement from you some day?

Anything could push anybody to say anything. I am pretty, tall, confident and have a beautiful smile. So mine will be a combination of many things and not my big boobs alone.

Nollywood often celebrates light-skinned actresses, do you see your skin as a barrier in your career?

Not any longer. We are gradually leaving that myopic belief. I believe my craft will sell me.

(Cuts in) But we have many actresses who were dark-skinned when they came into the industry but have turned light-skinned over night?

I am saying this categorically that I do not support bleaching in any form.

    Any man in the picture?

I am single but not searching. I am independent and working hard to make money.

Will you agree that finding love for a rich lady might be difficult ?

A true and complete man should not be intimidated by a woman’s success. In fact, a man should help his woman become more successful.

Don’t you think this is one of the reasons why we have many spinsters in Nollywood?

I totally disagree. These actresses have not just met the right man. Regardless of your chosen career, the right man will find you someday. We have A-list actresses who are married with kids. A good woman will meet her own man at the right time. We have men who will never settle for actresses for one reason or the other. But my point of view is this, it is not what you do, but who you are.

What will you never be found doing?

I am very spontaneous. I will never say never. Please, don’t make me shoot myself in the foot.

    Secrets of sustaining healthy relationship?

Discovering one’s self is key to sustaining a healthy relationship.

Your definition of a successful movie?

A successful movie is that which impacts positively on the viewer. A movie people can remember for a long time is a successful one.

    Intimate things about you?

I am left-handed, like light-skinned guys, very emotional, can’t date a poor man and would have preferred having a bigger butt.

Are you saying if a man has all the attributes but poor, it’s a ‘no’ from Bolaji?

Relationships are about responsibility. A man can’t have all the qualities of a good man and be poor. A woman should not date or marry a man who cannot be responsible for her. It goes both ways anyways. It’s better to be single than cutting corners in a relationship. If a man has all the prospects but poor, then his goal at that time should be finding money and not a woman. If you can’t take care of your partner, then the relationship is faulty.

    Can you quit acting?

I can’t quit acting for anything.

What if your boyfriend asks you to quit?

My boyfriend has no right over me.

Many actors seem to be living a fake life, why?

It is not our fault. Being a celebrity is an illusion of somebody who is perfect and we are not. Meaning, we have to act being perfect.

How often do you have sex?

I don’t have sex and will remain like that for as long as I can hold it.

    Why?

That is the way I want it .

An actress once said, it is better to have sex outside a relationship than having sex in a relationship and suffer heart-break. Your take?

I am very emotional and as such, cannot sleep with a man without any form of commitment.

Will you leave if your man cheats?

I will be stupid to do that. There are other ways to punish a man. I won’t give him the chance to be free.

Shock in Oyo as Pupils set school ablaze over mass examination failure

There was breach of the peace at the Isale-Oyo Community High School, Oyo town, after some pupils of the college reportedly set ablaze some classrooms over mass failure in their examination.

It was learnt that the aggrieved pupils stormed the school premises on Thursday morning charting solidarity songs.

They were said to have gone haywire afterwards, set fire to blocks of classrooms and fled the premises.

The PUNCH gathered that the school authorities alerted men of the Oyo State Fire Service, who responded swiftly to put out the fire.

Policemen were deployed in the school to restore peace but none of the pupils had been arrested as of the time of filing this report.

The disturbance, observers noted, marked the worst phase of the unrest that began days ago over mass failure in exams.

The school compound was deserted as teachers and other pupils reportedly fled for fear of being harmed.

Our correspondents learnt that there had been lingering crises since Monday in some secondary schools in the state following mass failure in the last promotion examinations.

The Oyo State Government has set a new promotion policy which states that only pupils with 50 per cent in Mathematics and English language will transit to the next class.

Pupils of Anglican Secondary School in Oyo reportedly unleashed mayhem on their teachers and destroyed billboards bearing Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s picture.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Banji Olowofela, lamented poor performance of pupils in external examinations, saying public schools could no longer continue to breed substandard pupils.

“What government says is that there is no automatic promotion again. Our external examinations from1999 till date have been abysmally poor. If we push them to the outside world, we are not helping them. We are trying to give them the opportunity to rediscover themselves. The school has been closed indefinitely,” he added.

How Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan’s aide laundered N270.7Million through restaurant’s account

    2

A prosecuting witness and compliance officer at GTB, Kayode Temitope Olanrewaju, yesterday told Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos how former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, allegedly laundered N270.7 million through the bank account of a restaurant in 2013 and 2015.

Dudafa was arraigned for the offence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alongside Joseph Iwuejo and four companies.

According to the Nation, Olanrewaju identified the restaurant as DJakes Fast-Food and Restaurant where Dudafa, his wife, Preye, and his son, Dudafa Jnr., are listed as directors.‎

According to him, the N270.7 million was transferred to DJakes Fast-Food and Restaurant’s GTBank account in several instalments.

He said on March 18, 2013, N63.2 million was transferred in installments of N3.2 million and N20 million in three tranches. N20 million was transferred to the restaurant’s account by a firm, 313 Bureau De Change in January 2014. One Abubakar Murtala Bashir credited the same account with N79.2 million on January 26, 2015.

In another instance, the witness stated that N88 million was paid into the account by Danbazau Global Limited and Bambura Global Company. Danbazua Global Limited paid N20.3 million into the same account on January 30, 2015. Under cross-examination by defence counsel, Mr. Gboyega Oyewole and Sunday Abumere, the witness informed the court that DJakes Fast-Food and Restaurant’s GTBank account was opened in 2007 in Yenogoa.

Another prosecution witness, also a compliance officer, Mr. Adeniyi Tunde, testified that both accused persons ran the accounts in a manner that ran contrary to banking regulations. Justice Idris adjourned till December 8, for continuation of trial.

  • Real reasons INEC named Businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP Ondo Governorship Candidate amidst crisis

Real reasons INEC named Businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP Ondo Governorship Candidate amidst crisis

    jimoh-ibrahim-1

The Independent National Electoral Commission has named businessman Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship election.

Mr. Ibrahim’s name was posted on an INEC notice board in Akure as well as on the commission’s website.

This implies that until a superior court gives a contrary judgment, Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP will not be accepted as the party’s candidate.

A court order from an the Ondo State High Court on Wednesday restrained INEC from recognizing Mr. Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.

The Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, however, told PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday night that Mr. Ibrahim was approved as candidate based on an order from the Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Okon Abang.

Mr. Abang had on October 14 declared Mr. Ibrahim the true candidate of the PDP. On Thursday, Mr. Abang rejected a plea by Mr. Jegede seeking to be allowed to appeal the October 14 court judgement.

It is based on these two court rulings that INEC approved Mr. Ibrahim as the PDP candidate.

“We received a court order from the High Court in Akure and that was yesterday(Wednesday), but there was a subsisting one by Justice Abang today(Thursday), that is what happened,” Mr. Agbaje said.

Asked if another court order can upturn the situation, Mr. Agbaje said INEC would have no choice but to drop Mr. Ibrahim if another superior order comes in favour of Mr. Jegede.

“That is why we put in front of the name ‘court order,’ to show that the name was picked as a result of an order of the court,” he said.

“The situation will continue that way until the matter is decided by the Supreme Court if the parties choose to proceed to the apex court.”

The commissioner said the politicians had brought themselves into a tight corner, noting that instead of going to the Court of Appeal, they were jumping from one high court to the other.

“Now they have to go on appeal at a higher court,” he said. “They are the ones undoing themselves and like I said, we do not have any candidate. We will only abide by the laws guiding the process.”
