CSU Reaffirms That Tinubu’s Record Are True & Authentic, Why S’Court will Not admit fresh evidence
CSU Reaffirms That Tinubu’s Record Are True & Authentic, Why S’Court will Not admit fresh evidence
Of a truth, there is no cause for alarm as the futile attempt by mischieve makers to desecrate the highest office in Nigeria, the presidency by the opposition with untrue facts about the records of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at The Chicago State University (CSU) has been clarified by the authorities of the institution.
It would be recalled that The Chicago State University, CSU, has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu applied to the institution as a male.
CSU Registrar, Caleb Westberg disclosed that the institution issued a letter of admission to a male.
“The university is not confused about that. We issued an admissions letter to Mr. Bola Tinubu. He applied as a male student. That is a part of the record” the Chicago State University Registrar, Caleb Westberg explained during questioning Mr Angela Liu, the legal representative to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the February 2023 Presidential election.
Liu questioned the CSU registrar during a deposition which is part of clearing alleged doubts about the academic records of Tinubu at the institution.
Westberg’s response was to the lawyer’s poser “And you’re aware of the discrepancy in his gender?”.
This was after the Registrar shut down a similar question about the President’s date of birth with ” According to the records we have, I’m not aware of any discrepancies.”
The registrar in an oral deposition made to support the release of Tinubu’s academic record on Monday further declared in response to another question by Atiku’s lawyer that “Chicago State University has the official record of Bola A. Tinubu, and we believe that to be true and authentic”
The A stands for Tinubu’s third name “Ahmed”.
Further validating the President’s Chicago State University Certificate and Record, the Registrar confirmed that Olajide Adeniji was a student in the school at the same period Tinubu was.
“Did you have an opportunity to check the·records to see whether or not this person ·O-L-A-J-I-D-E, A-D-E-N-I-J-I actually went to CSU?” Tinubu’s legal representative Victor Henderson asked the registrar who answered “I did” and added “yes’ to the follow-up question of “And was that person on campus at the same time that, as best you know, that President Tinubu was there?”.
Tinubu graduated with honors from Chicago State University in 1979 but his certificate and records were been tainted by claims addressed by registrar Caleb
Westberg in the deposition instigated by Atiku who lost the 2023 Presidential election at the polls and the Presidential election tribunal.
Meanwhile, A former Chairman at the Nigerian Bar Association, Monday Ubani, has justified why the Supreme Court may not admit fresh evidence in the appeal of the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal.
Ubani was reacting to the case initiated by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar in the United States.
Speaking on the development on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Ubani said, “Looking at the facts surrounding it, the issue of admissibility of fresh evidence by the appellate court is very rare, especially if that evidence was available to you while you were initiating the process.
“The Supreme Court will never, even the Court of Appeal will not admit fresh evidence because their job is to review the decision of the court below and not to now evaluate any evidence.
“They don’t take any evidence but there are special circumstances under which fresh evidence can be admitted by the appellate court and that ground is maybe by the time you file the case that evidence was not available.
