In recognition of their excellent performance in crime fighting the divisional police officer (DPO) Alapere Lagos State command Gregory Ikpekhia a supritendent of police (SP) and most of his personnel has been honoured by Nigerian peace magazine.
Also honoured were selected individuals who had contributed in no small measure to support the Alapere police division to fought and bring crime to its barest minimum in the area thereby restoring peace and harmony in Alapere and its environs in Lagos State.
During the ceremony held on Thursday January 30th,at the Alapere division office, the divisional police officer SP Gregory was awarded and honoured with a plaque and certificate as “The most incorruptible officer “.
It could be recalled that last December a case of defilement was bought before the DPO and he handle it diligently as he rejected N500.000 bribe from one of the suspect ,a Redeem pastor who attempted to cover up the case, but met stiff resistance from the DPO who forwarded the case to gender unit at the police command headquarters Ikeja for further investigation .
These among many other testimony were part of the yardstick use to give the award to the DPO.
Also about Ten police men from the division who perform excellently in 2019/2020 were also honoured, they include inspector Elemah Augustine, Inspector Anifowoshe Mujidant, inspector Edoya Moses, inspector Okpa Eucharia, inspector Talabi Daudu, inspector Emebiokin Lawrence, Inspector Affiong Sunday, inspector Suleiman Musa Abubakar and Sergeant Bola Umar Ali received award for “Honour in excellent in crime fighting “.
Also honoured were Mr Taofeek Anifowoshe the managing director (MD) Forte Oil Mile 12 Lagos for his contribution in supporting the police to tackle crime in the area, others include, Mr illesanmi Busuyi Abiodun a business who have also support the police in the area.
Reacting to the award divisional police officer (DPO) Alapere,SP Gregory Ikpekhia urged all officers and men of the division to double their effort in crime fighting as the basic role of the police is to save life and property.” we will not relent and we will not die in the job, we have to diligent, be at alert to enable us continue to achieve success “.he said.
He further task all the personnel to maintain their duty post and never play with their job,”work hard to be creative in all you do, don’t exclude God because God will do miracle in our life, more blessings are coming “.he added.
Reacting to the award the police community relation chairman PCRC Alapere Otunba Onabajo Temitayo thank the division their effort to reduce crime in Alapere and its environs.
Other personality that receive the award is Alhaji Murtala Anifowoshe who commended the Alapere division for reducing crime .
He call on the inspector general of police to assist the division with more patrol vehicle . Also confirmed that since the new DPO took over the division crime was bought to halt
He however lamented the upsurge in crime in South West and urge the federal government to act fast by giving adequate support to the police to their job.
In his reaction the managing editor Nigeria peace magazine Benjamin Iybe who presented the award said the Alapere police division was given award after careful scrutiny of all the police division in Nigeria.
The Alapere division score 80 percent beating others to the yardstick set. We also interview residents before and some person in the area for the award.
