By Ifeoma Ikem

Few days after the fire outbreak that wrecked havoc in the NNPC pipeline Ile-Ekpo-Ekoror Abulegba area of Lagos, it has now been uncovered that the failure by Engineers saddle to repair the pipeline to fix the peg in proper position caused the inferno.

Investigation carried by our correspondent showed the picture of the peg as it was not properly fix which caused the fire due to hot whether.

Residents, in the area said it was not the hand work of vandals as pipeline vandals does not operate in the afternoon, it is usually carried in the night.

Another resident said that in October last year some engineers were on ground working on the peg before they came back to the site. On my opinion if the peg have fault the engineers should fix it properly because the incident that happened claim lives and properties.

Further investigation by our correspondent, shows that the last repair done on the peg was on 15th October 2019.

The fire incident which gulp NNPC pipeline last week claimed no fewer than seven lives, burnt many vehicles and houses thereby rendering many residents homeless and the victim are now taking shelter in IDP camp in Alimosho area of the state.
