Father, Son Jailed For Killing Wife’s Lover

A father and his son have been found guilty of murdering his wife’s new partner after they found him hiding in a wardrobe.

Wayne Peckham, 49, and his son, Riley Peckham, 23, were both jailed for life, for a minimum of 24 and 18 years respectively, for killing Matthew Rodwell, 39.

After their sentencing at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday, police said the father and son acted “in jealous rage, like a pack of animals”.

The pair hunted Rodwell down and found him hiding in a wardrobe at his home in Downham Market, Norfolk, in January 2022.

Wayne Peckham, estranged from his wife Kerry Peckham, let himself into the house she shared with Rodwell after her son Riley Peckham had climbed through a first-floor window.

The father and son, from Hilgay, Norfolk, beat and strangled Rodwell to death in front of Mrs Peckham.

The pair had denied murder but were found guilty on Tuesday following a six-week trial.

Wayne Peckham was also convicted of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm over an earlier assault against another man which happened in Downham Market in December 2021.

The Victim Rodwell, who was a refuse worker and father-of-two, hid in the wardrobe and made a 999 call to police, while Riley was heard in the background shouting, “You are going to die”.

Riley Peckham and Mr Rodwell fought upstairs, before the victim ended up at the bottom of the stairs where the attack continued. He died at the scene. The cause of death was later declared to be manual strangulation.

Rodwell had suffered 40 “significant” injuries from being kicked, stamped and punched.

Senior investigating officer, Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess, from Norfolk Police, said: “Wayne and Riley acted in jealous rage, like a pack of animals, and the sentences passed today mean they can longer be a danger to anyone else.

“As ever, our thoughts remain with Matthew’s family and friends, and we will continue to support them for as long as they need.”

ARISE IIP Deal: Banwo Calls NLM Court Win a Victory for Transparency

Founder of Naija Lives Matter (NLM), Dr. Ope Banwo, has described the group’s recent court victory against the Ogun State Government as a major win for transparency and the public’s right to information.

Banwo’s reaction followed a ruling by a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, which ordered the Ogun State Government to disclose full details of its 45-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP).

The judgment, delivered by Justice Abiodun Adeyemi, mandates the state government and relevant ministries to release key documents relating to the industrial development project located in Sagamu.

“This judgment is a clear directive that the Ogun State Government must open up the details of its 45-year contract with ARISE IIP,” Banwo said.

“This is not about speculation. It is about the right of the people to know how a long-term agreement involving public resources was structured. The court has affirmed that this information cannot be hidden.”

The suit, marked FHC/AB/CS/105/2025, was filed by Banwo through his counsel, Barrister Yemi Salman, after what NLM described as repeated refusals by the state government to provide information on the Remo Economic Industrial Cluster project.

Banwo said the ruling represents a defining moment for governance and accountability in Ogun State, noting that it offers the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun an opportunity to demonstrate respect for the rule of law.

“We believe the governor now has a chance to choose transparency over secrecy and accountability over avoidance,” he stated.

“Disobedience of a lawful court order is not just a legal issue; it is a public accountability issue.”

He expressed confidence that the state government would comply with the court’s directive within the 14-day timeline reportedly set for the release of the documents.

According to NLM, the documents sought include the full PPP agreement, details of investors, funding structure, land allocation, procurement process, environmental impact assessments, and internal government approvals.

The group maintained that legal action became necessary after multiple requests for the information were allegedly ignored, despite provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Akintunde Supercharges City Boy Movement: Donates Five Buses, Endorses One-Million-Vote Target for Tinubu in Oyo

Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has announced the donation of five operational buses to the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, giving a major logistics boost to the group’s expanding grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Oyo State leadership of the movement to the senator’s Ibadan residence—part of the group’s ongoing engagements with key political stakeholders across the state.

Senator Akintunde, while commending the movement for what he described as “consistent, organised, and youth-driven mobilization,” said the City Boy Movement had become a formidable political structure bridging the gap between young people and political leadership.

He praised the group’s statewide presence and strategic mobilisation efforts, noting that their activities had strengthened political awareness in hard-to-reach communities.

“In support of your operations, I will be donating five buses. These are essential needs for coordination and I am fully convinced that any investment made in this movement is worth it,” Akintunde said.

He reminded the gathering that he is also a proud member of the City Boy Movement, adding:
“Our mission is clear—to build and sustain a government that is reliable, responsible, and responsive.

The results of the current administration’s policies are beginning to show, and we must encourage our people to stay the course.

Obstacles will come, but with determination, we will achieve our goals.”

Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, Hon. Femi Onireti, said the organisation had intensified mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, declaring that the group is targeting one million votes for the President in 2027.

“We are prepared to go all out. Our target is one million votes for President Tinubu in Oyo State, and our mobilisation machinery has been activated across all zones,” Onireti stated.

Corroborating this, the Oyo State Coordinator of the movement, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, revealed that the group already has more than 50,000 registered members and well-structured presence across all 351 wards in Oyo State, a network he described as “an asset for deep grassroots penetration.”

The leadership of the City Boy Movement expressed profound appreciation to Senator Akintunde for his support, describing him as a steadfast ally of youth political participation and grassroots development.

Other members who spoke during the visit reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the organisation’s mobilisation activities as preparations toward future political engagements intensify across the state.
