Grace Nation: “The Prince of Persia Operates Everywhere—Even in the Church” — Dr Chris Okafor

…Covenant determines outcomes

…Breaking negative patterns requires sacrifice and spiritual discipline

Understanding the root and dynamics of life’s challenges is essential to overcoming them. Many struggles—particularly recurring family patterns and generational curses—persist because they are not properly identified or addressed.

Ignorance, in many cases, prolongs such cycles of limitation.

These insights formed the core of the teaching by the Generational Prophet and Senior Pastor of Grace Nation Global, Dr Chris Okafor, during a recent service at the church’s international headquarters in Ojodu Berger, Lagos.

Speaking on the series “Dealing with Ungodly Patterns and Curses,” Dr Okafor emphasized that being a Christian does not automatically exempt an individual from inherited patterns or curses.

According to the Generational Prophet, for such patterns to be broken, someone must take responsibility and apply the required spiritual principles.

He described curses as “spiritual programs designed to enforce failure,” noting that while the sacrifice of Jesus Christ offers redemption, believers must still follow divine instructions to experience complete freedom. “Deliverance is not accidental; it is enforced through understanding and obedience,” he stated.

The “Prince of Persia” Influence

Dr Okafor highlighted what he referred to as the “Prince of Persia” spirit—a force that resists spiritual progress and keeps individuals in bondage.

He explained that this influence can manifest anywhere, including within the church, by creating distractions and weakening spiritual focus.

According to him, this force often diverts attention through modern channels, particularly digital platforms. Instead of engaging with spiritual growth, individuals may become consumed with gossip, misinformation, and distractions that ultimately disconnect them from their source of help.

Breaking Free from Patterns and Curses

The cleric outlined practical steps for overcoming negative patterns:

Commitment to God: Genuine service and dedication establish a covenant relationship with God.

Consistent Prayer: Persistent and strategic prayer invites divine intervention.

Spiritual Discipline: Obedience to divine principles strengthens one’s resistance against negative influences.

He stressed that when these principles are applied, God intervenes and grants victory over recurring challenges.

Testimonies of Transformation

The service also featured testimonies highlighting what participants described as divine intervention.

One notable case involved a woman previously scheduled for a surgical procedure costing millions of naira. After prayers during a prior service, she reportedly experienced healing and later received medical confirmation of her recovery. She returned to share her testimony during the April 12, 2026 service.

Community Outreach

The Charity Sunday service concluded with the distribution of food items to widows and underprivileged members of the Ojodu Berger community, reflecting the church’s ongoing humanitarian efforts.

Overall, the service combined teaching, testimonies, and outreach, reinforcing the church’s emphasis on spiritual growth, practical faith, and community impact.

Buratai Defends Jilli Market Airstrike, Says Target Was Terrorist Logistics Hub

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd.), CFR, has defended the recent Nigerian Air Force airstrike on Jilli Market along the Borno–Yobe border, describing it as a “necessary military action” against a long-established terrorist logistics hub.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Buratai expressed concern over reports of civilian casualties, noting that over fifty persons were reportedly killed and several others injured in the operation. He described the loss of innocent lives as “deeply unfortunate and painful,” but maintained that the armed forces acted on credible intelligence.
According to him, intelligence reports indicated that Boko Haram and ISWAP elements had been using the weekly market to impose illegal levies, procure supplies, and coordinate attacks.
He further argued that Jilli Market had long been associated with insurgent activity, recalling that Nigerian troops had previously carried out operations in the area, including during earlier military campaigns aimed at dislodging terrorist elements.
Buratai maintained that while civilian harm was regrettable, the responsibility lay with insurgents who allegedly operate within civilian spaces.
“No military wishes to harm civilians,” he said, adding that continued use of such locations by armed groups leaves security forces with difficult operational choices.
He urged residents in surrounding communities including Geidam, Gubio, Damasak, and Ngamdu to avoid patronising markets or routes allegedly linked to insurgent activity, stressing the importance of civilian cooperation with security agencies.
Buratai commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and intelligence community for what he described as a professional and intelligence-driven operation, insisting that sustained military pressure and public cooperation were key to defeating insurgency in the region.
He concluded with a call for unity in the fight against terrorism, while expressing sympathy for victims of the strike and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

INEC Denies Copying Statement, Labels Peoples Gazette Report Misleading

ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims that its recent press statement was copied from a third party, insisting that the publication originated solely from the Commission.
In a rebuttal issued on Sunday, the electoral body clarified that any circulation of the statement outside its official communication channels was done independently and without its authorization.

Assassination of ‘Agali’ Sparks Political Tension in Surulere

LAGOS — The fragile peace in the Surulere axis of Lagos State was shattered on Saturday, April 11, 2026, following the brazen assassination of a high-ranking figure within the Buccaneers Association of Nigeria (BAN), popularly known as Agali.

The incident, which occurred in the Iponri area, has sent shockwaves through the community and triggered a massive security crackdown as fears of reprisal attacks loom.

The Ambush

According to eyewitness accounts and viral footage circulating on social media platforms, Agali was intercepted while driving his vehicle through Iponri. Assailants reportedly opened fire at close range, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

Agali, whose influence centered around the Shitta and Akere corridors, was described by locals as a "larger-than-life" figure. While widely feared for his "rugged" reputation and status as the number one man of the Buccaneers in Surulere, he was also paradoxically described by some residents as a generous and friendly benefactor who wielded significant grassroots power.

Political Undercurrents

While the Buccaneers have reportedly pointed fingers at a specific rival cult group for the hit, the motive behind the killing is increasingly being viewed through a political lens.

Sources within the area suggest that Agali’s death may be linked to internal friction within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Agali was known to have long-standing ties to top-tier politicians in the district, including high-profile figures like Hon. Desmond Elliot and Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

However, reports indicate a recent rift:

The Conflict: Agali was allegedly throwing his significant weight behind a female candidate for an upcoming election.

The Rivalry: This move reportedly placed him in direct opposition to a popular male incumbent candidate within the same party.

Surulere on Edge

The aftermath of the shooting has left the Shitta, Akere, and Iponri areas in a state of near-paralysis. By Sunday morning, a heavy security presence was visible, with residents counting over 15 police patrol vehicles stationed at strategic junctions to deter a breakdown of law and order.

The Buccaneers group has reportedly vowed "extreme chaos" in retaliation against the rival group they hold responsible. More concerning to the general public are the threats of violence directed toward the upcoming electoral process.

"The atmosphere is heavy," said one resident who requested anonymity. "Agali was influential. With him gone, and the way it happened, everyone is afraid that the 'boys' will seek revenge. We are staying indoors."

INEC also dismissed a report by Peoples Gazette titled “Nigerians react as INEC reposts Tinubu aide’s message,” describing it as “fake, misleading, and a misrepresentation of facts.”

According to the Commission, its decision to repost the statement was purely to amplify accurate information already released officially, and not an endorsement of any individual or political figure.

“The Commission remains strictly non-partisan,” INEC emphasized, urging members of the public to disregard what it called misleading interpretations of its actions.

The electoral body reaffirmed its commitment to neutrality, transparency, and credible information dissemination as part of its mandate.
