Organizers of the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards), recently presented the trophy for “Best International Music Video 2021” category to Nigerian Fuji musician and songwriter, Wasiu Alabi popularly known as PASUMA. The team also used the unique opportunity to attend a ground breaking ceremony of the WAKANDA-One city initiative in Ghana.

The award presentation led by Producer and African Representative of HAPAwards, Mr. Adeola Odunowo, was held at the singer homestead in Lagos. The artist while expressing his gratitude to the award organizers, said it was an amazing experience to be a part of the last edition at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Winning this category only goes to show that I am still relevant in the music industry and I desire to even contribute more than I have. God bless you all,” PASUMA said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other winners from Nigeria at the 5th edition of Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards) include Lateef Adedimeji, Etinosa Idemudia, Ayoola Ayoola and UBA’s REDTV Productions with many more across Africa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 2022 Edition of HAPAwards kicked-off with a special attendance at the official launch of WAKANDA-One city in Ghana – an initiative of the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking during an interactive session, the Founder and Executive Producer of HAPAwards, Ms. Tina Weisinger said, “There is no better time to unite the Black race as it’s evident that Africa is the last frontier of human development. Our platform will continue to support and encourage talents and creativity across the globe.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Her Excellency, Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quaw, the Chairperson of ADDI, noted that the initiative was born out of a necessity to create a one-stop shop for everything African.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The major drivers of ADDI believe it is imperative that the children of Africa in the Diaspora return back home to Africa and join their brothers and sisters to build a Continent of the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since 2017, the HAPAwards has also honored royalties like His Imperial Majesty, The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi – Ojaja II; the King of Eswatini, His Majesty, Ngwenyama King Mswati II; the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo; Former WBA Heavyweight Champion, Honorable Gerrie Coetzee; Reverend Mother Abimbola Ajayi along with other select Politicians, Dignitaries, Hollywood & African A-listers, Musicians, Comedians and Activists.

Industry insiders say the move is part of the label’s growing plan to push Afrobeats deeper into the international market by investing in emerging African talents with strong commercial potential.

 

Sources close to the development revealed that the deal has already been finalized quietly, with preparations underway for Oscar Bankz’s first official project under the label, expected to drop later this summer.

 

The Cape Town-based company is reportedly putting a strong promotional structure behind the artist, with plans targeting audiences across Africa, Europe, and other international markets.

 

Music observers believe the partnership could become a major breakthrough moment for Oscar Bankz, whose sound and style have continued gaining attention among Afrobeats listeners.

Otunba Gbenga, popularly known as Leo Taiwo, will be celebrated for his 45-year journey in the music industry at a special event scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Lagos.

 

The event, set to hold at the Radio Lagos Marquee Hall in Agidingbi, Ikeja, is expected to bring together friends, family, and associates to honour a career defined by longevity and consistent contribution to Nigeria’s Fuji music scene.

 

Though not widely in the public spotlight, Leo Taiwo is regarded within industry circles as a respected figure whose work has spanned decades.
