*Health Student Arrested over Alleged Cyber-Harassment, Misrepresentation of Ezzy College.*

Enugu, Nigeria – May 2026

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Joy Ezeugwu, a vocational health student associated with Ezzy College of Health, Science and Technology, over allegations bordering on obsessive malicious digital stalking, misrepresentation, and the dissemination of unverified libellous claims on the cyber space against the institutions.

According to preliminary investigation, the student was alleged to have violated the school’s rules and regulations which she signed an undertaken to abide by. On finding out her offence, the institution’s authority demanded an apology letter and requested that she be suspended until she would remorsefully tender the apology. Instead of being law abiding and responsive to the undertaken she signed, the student, in collaboration with various online bloggers, went uncontrolled on social media to malign the school authority, sharing various defamatory information against the reputation of the institution and the management.

The collaboration with these blogger to repeatedly share unverified falsehood has raised serious concerns to the management of the institution and the public as to what is the motives of Joy Ezeugwu and the bloggers with whom she has aligned to aid and abate crime.

The matter is now under formal review by federal security agencies, with officials emphasizing that the arrest is part of a broader effort to establish the facts and uphold legal and ethical standards in both healthcare and digital communication spaces.

Legal experts note that the offenses may fall under provisions related to human right violation and cyber-crime related, depending on the circumstances and applicable laws.

However, they also stress that all allegations must be proven through due process.

In a statement, representatives of Ezzy College reiterated their commitment to professional ethics, patient dignity, and institutional integrity. They maintained that the process is aiming to establish the importance of responsible conduct, particularly among individuals undergoing training in healthcare professions where ethics is paramount.

“This is not merely an institutional issue; it is about, safeguarding professional standards, and ensuring that information shared with the public is accurate and responsible,” a source familiar with the institution’s position said.

The case has also drawn attention to the growing challenge of misinformation and unverified digital content, especially in sensitive sectors such as healthcare. Analysts say the outcome of the investigation could help clarify boundaries around digital conduct, privacy, and accountability.

Authorities have emphasized that the arrest should not be interpreted as victimization or determination of guilt, but rather as procedural to enabling a thorough and impartial investigation. They assured that all parties involved will be given fair hearing.

As the investigation unfolds, stakeholders say the priority remains to establish the truth, protect the rights of all individuals involved, and reinforce the standards that govern both the ethics of healthcare practice and cyber information control.
