2027 Realignment? Tinubu Meets PDP Heavyweights as Political Tides Begin to Shift

ABUJA — In a move stirring speculation of early political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday evening hosted prominent members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The closed-door meeting was spearheaded by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike — a key political figure and former governor of Rivers State — and attended by his close allies, including notable former members of the defunct G5 Governors bloc. This faction famously broke ranks with the PDP during the 2023 election cycle.

Wike and the G5 — which included then-governors of Benue, Abia, Enugu, Oyo, and Rivers States — openly opposed PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and instead threw their weight behind Tinubu, then flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Since the election, Wike, still a card-carrying PDP member, was appointed Minister of FCT — a move that raised eyebrows and hinted at deeper political crosscurrents.

Saturday’s meeting included former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, as well as ex-governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), all known Wike allies.

Though details of the discussions remain under wraps, insider sources suggest the talks focused on forging future political collaborations and possibly integrating the former governors more formally into the current power structure.

With shifting alliances and strategic dialogue already underway, the race to 2027 may have unofficially begun.

*RE: “Kendo Is Not Above the Law” – A Dead-on-Arrival Attempt by a Failed Former Legislator*

`Let’s rewind the clock to seven years ago`

The entire Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1 was united in its support for OTUNBA. OLU KAYODE STEPHEN OGUNDIPE (Omojomolo) during the 2019 APC primaries. The people were ready. The energy was unmatched. The streets echoed one name: Omo’jomolo. But in a disappointing twist, the party chose to impose an unpopular candidate (Hon.Hakern Sokunle) under the guise of party supremacy.

Despite the injustice, OTUNBA OGUNDIPE, a man of principle, discipline, and uncommon loyalty, chose to toe the line. With a heavy heart but a firm resolve, he stood down and urged his supporters to respect the party’s decision. That is the mark of *A TRUE PARTY MAN.*

Fast forward to 2023.

The same Hon. Sokunle, after eight underwhelming years in the Lagos State House of Assembly, sought an unlikely third term. Rather than rely on the people or the will of God, he chose to pin his hopes on the political machinery of a fellow lawmaker from Agege Constituency 1. And yet, when he dared to challenge Hon. Ogundipe once again, the result was emphatic and brutal—he was beaten blue-black at the primaries. Not even the party structure could rescue his dwindling political relevance.

Now, having failed at the polls, he has taken to shadowy tactics.

Why would such a man resort to sponsoring faceless, non-resident agitators against a hardworking, result-driven, and highly respected council chairman OTUNBA KEHINDE OLOYEDE AL-MAROOF (KENDO)? What is the endgame of this growing campaign of faceless propaganda and cowardly slander?

Let it be known: Hon. Sokunle’s actions are not just personal vendettas, they are a direct assault on the integrity of our dear party (APC) By orchestrating anonymous online attacks and enabling pseudo accounts to push falsehoods, he is essentially branding the party as clueless, rudderless, and lacking in cohesion.

This is not politics.
This is sabotage, fueled by ego and desperation.

But the people of Oshodi/Isolo are wiser now. They remember. They can see beyond the noise.

They know who stood with them through thick and thin and who only shows up when ambition calls.
And as always, the truth will triumph.

Take it or leave it… KENDO till 2029
