In a statement personally signed by him the Labour Party bigwig said the PDP in Edo State is only doing everything possible to hide under the popularity of the Labour Party as the bride of the Progressives.

Dr. Okundaye advised Labour Party faithful not to be dettered by the postponement of the House of assembly election but remain focussed to help pursue the common goal which is repositioning Edo state.for greater heights.

He advised members of the party and outsiders not to believe in any speculation as Labour is more focussed on winning many seats in the edo state house assembly in preparation for the big one which is the governorship election.

Presidential Aide Schooled Atiku On His Call To Tinubu To Emulate Argentine Reforms

Presidential Aide Schooled Atiku On His Call To Tinubu To Emulate Argentine Reforms

President Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Adviser on Digital Media and New Media, O’tega Ogra has berated Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for calling out president Tinubu to Adopt the Argentine economic reforms.
It would be recalled that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to adopt the reforms of his counterpart in Argentina, Javier Milei. According to the former Vice-President, Milei, like Tinubu, inherited a bad economy.
However, Ortega decided to school Atiku in an open letter he wrote to him via his official social media handle.
Respectfully, VP Atiku (1999 – 2007) sir, I come again.
I would like to start by first saying – respectfully, that Nigeria is not Argentina, and President Tinubu is not the President of Argentina.
To those who may be enchanted, just like our former VP, by the ‘Argentina Miracle’ he quoted, see below the January data of the situation Alh. Atiku praised and says he would have put on Nigerians – had he been 7th time lucky at his shot at the presidency which wasn’t successful.
I therefore advise a closer look at the data—lest we forget that even a broken clock is right twice a day:
– Argentine Inflation Rates: Jumped to 254% in January 2024 – the highest level since 1990.
  – Industrial and construction output in Argentina dropped by 12.8% and 12.2% year-on-year in December, respectively.
  – Economic activity in Argentina fell 2.5% year on year according to a Reuters survey.
  – Car registrations in Argentina declined by 33% year-on-year in January.
  – Retail sales in Argentina fell by 25.5% year-on-year in January.
  – Construction activity in Argentina  decreased by 28.2% in January.
  – Cement deliveries and motorcycle registrations also saw significant declines.
– Halting all public works, freezing public sector salaries and pensions, and eliminating many public subsidies, including for energy and public transportation.
– Tax Increases: Sharp rise in taxes, including import taxes.
– Real Salary Collapse: The real salary of registered private-sector workers in Argentina experienced the largest monthly drop in at least 30 years, with January’s real salaries potentially falling below the levels of the 2001 crisis
  – National taxes linked to economic activity across Argentina fell between 15% and 25% annually on a real basis.
  – Food sales in retail stores fell 37.1% year-on-year in January.
– Minimum Wage: The current Minimum Living and Mobile Wage (SMVM) is 156,000 pesos per month ($184), with no increase despite high inflation. At least Nigeria is reviewing its own.
– IMF Forecast for Argentina: Predicted a 2.8% recession in 2024.
This gloomy situation above is the situation former VP Atiku says in his statement that he would have put on Nigerians – had he won. Thank you, sir, for finally telling the Nigerian people what your true plans were. Now we know – stopping salaries, a recession, > 250% inflation, no investment in social security or infrastructure was your plan for Nigerians all along.
Koko Of The Matter:
I honestly appreciate former VP Atiku’s attempt to contribute to the economic discourse, albeit through a remarkably flawed lens. As for my principal – @officialABAT President Tinubu’s administration, we will continue to roll up our sleeves, not to play the fiddle as Rome burns, but to diligently work towards a prosperous, stable, and inclusive Nigeria.
Alhaji Atiku, your statement is perplexing. Your critique of President Tinubu’s administration, while glorifying Argentina’s dire situation, is akin to applauding the captain of the Titanic for its speed, ignoring the iceberg dead ahead I understand the allure of sensational headlines and the temptation to draw parallels where none exist, but let’s be clear: Nigeria is not Argentina, and President Tinubu is not President Milei.
Let me be clear: President Tinubu will continue to prioritize the well-being of Nigerian citizens over the theatrics of austerity masquerading as reform.
Thank you for indulging me once again, sir @atiku

Edo 2024: Our primary election a sham, says NNPP Ex Gubernatorial Aspirant, Okoeguale

By Elvis Omoregie

Peter Okoeguale, a former aspirant of the New Nigerian People’s Party ( NNPP) has criticized the process that produced Past Azheme Azena as the party’s flagged bearer for the 2024 Edo State Governorship election.

Okoeguale, at a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, in Benin City, claimed that the delegates from Edo South Senatorial District were disenfranchised because they would have voted for him. He also alleged that Pastor Azheme Azena replaced the names of the original delegates with his church members and called for outright cancellation or he should be declared the winner.

“I was surprised because the Committee that were invited from Abuja to oversee the exercise gave me their words that they were going to ensure that the chairmen of the Local Government Councils were the one that will identify their members.

He said the exercise was going fine until when they said that it is going to amount to over voting, I was very surprised.

“I asked what is over voting when we are sure of our members from ward to ward and from local government to local government.

“They started from Edo North, but when they got to Edo Central. I was surprised that they were reducing my votes. I got them on camera, at a time the chairman of the Committee tried to stop the exercise, the light was going off and on because they were trying to do some manipulations”.

” I was already leading because the number of delegates was supposed to be 560, but at the end of the day only 360 delegates voted”.

“The names of other delegates were not on the list. I want to say that I am aggrieved now. It is either they declare me a winner or they should cancel the results from Edo South and have a rerun.” He said.

Recall that Pastor Azemhe Azena,of the Omega Fire Ministries emerged the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, candidate for the Edo State September 21, 2024 governorship election on Friday

Azemhe polled a total of 211 votes to defeat Sebastian Iyere 25 votes, Balogun Engealeyeme Sunday 17 votes and Peter Okoeguale 100 votes in the primaries.

He, last month resigned from the Labour Party over alleged ill-treatment against him and his supporters by the Akoko-Edo Local Government chairman of the party during his campaign team’s visit to the locality.

Reacting through the telephone, Pastor Azemhe Azena, said he was not the person sent from the national to conduct the election in Benin City.

“The Committee they sent to come and conduct the election had a list sent to them from Abuja and it was like a judgement day, whosoever name was not found in the book of life was not allowed to vote , funny enough,he said I brought my church people to come and vote. If I have done that,I would have given him a gap. And a gap that he would not have recovered from. Why? Ikpoba Okha is where my church is.

“The names of my people were not part of the list from Abuja. I never had a list from Ikpoba Okha. I bought 500 delegate forms and none of their names came out. In Egor, none of my list came out from the list they brought from Abuja. In Oredo, only 3 people are my delegates from the list they brought from Abuja.

“Most of those from Edo South were not around, when they call their names, they will not be around. So that is what happened. When the names are called, you will not see their names in the register”. He said.

By Elvis Omoregie

The Dr Okundaye who congratulated the former (NBA) National President, Olumide Akpata, as the party’s candidate said his coming will be changing the narrative of the party which the obedient movement had always wanted and will give the party an edge in winning the governorship  election slated for September 21, 2024.

In a chat with newsmen in Benin City, Dr Okundaye said that competence and capacity stands out the party’s candidate to win the election.

He said that the party has in the last few years concerned itself with deepening democracy by emphasizing competency and capacity over rotation and other considerations

According to him, “Akpata has come to realize that the election is about people and the people must drive the process and the process will go a long way to re-establish  LP’s commitment to democracy.

“Akpata has come to change the old order; Akpata will be a game changer in the election; he has built enough trust among the people by identifying with the dreams and aspirations of the people.”

Dr Okundaye disclosed that the ‘Obedient’ Movement would continue to be a force in ensuring that LP wins elections in the state

He said that the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC) has commenced the process of exploring all avenues to address the internal wranglings in the party.

LPPMC is a congregation of stakeholders of LP, including elected party men and women in government at the state and national levels, members of the Obedient Support Group from across the 36 of the federation and Abuja who are committed to strengthening LP’s stronghold and enlarging its support base.
