Lancelot Imasuen Takes Nollywood To Nepal, Gets NAFEST Honors With Sir Victor Uwaifo

In recognition of his immense contributions to the propagation and exportation of rich Edo cultural heritage, African’s most consistent filmmaker, Sir Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen has been honored by National Council for Arts and Culture, organizers of National Festival of Arts and Culture,(NAFEST).

The award, in its 32rd edition, held in Benin City, the Edo State capital and in it’s 40th year of existence singled him and musical legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo, out of millions of Nigerians recognises his ‘Man Use of Movies in the Propagation of the Rich Edo Cultural Heritage while, Sir Victor got the one in the area of Music for the Propagation and Globalization of Edo Language.

In addition I am on my way to Napel for the introduction of Nollywood to that country .. through the Napel African film festival where several of my films will be screened.

Still basking in the euphoria of his award recognition, Lancelot, will be attending the Nepal African Films Festival, Nepal, a border between India and China, alongside the Managing Director for the Nigerian Film Corporation, NFC, Jos, Mr. Chidia Maduekwe, as the only Nigerian Filmmaker invited to fly the flag of Nigeria.

He will be screening some of his movies alongside other notable foreign filmmakers in Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Lancelot told omonaijablog.com that, “in my very early years of practice, I’ve been very forthright about using the instrumentality of motion pictures in propagating and celebrating our rich culture which is evident in a lot of my films that I produced.”

“We also came up with an innovative idea called, ‘celebrating and sustaining the Edo language using the instrumentality of motion pictures’, with several top notch Edo language movies produced by me and having some of them screened on CNN and on African Magic then when they used to take some minority languages.”

Starting tomorrow November 1st – 5th, 2019, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s classics like, Adesuwa, Invasion 1897 and the recently released ‘Wede’ (A classic on the evil of female genital mutilation) and a host of some of classics will be screened at the festival.

Nepal that will be hosting the event is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas, but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With an estimated population of 26.4 million, it is 48th largest country by population and 93rd largest country by area.

Lancelot aside being one of the African greatest filmmaker, is also one of the greatest exports from Nigeria.

Apostle Omotosho Marks 40th Birthday, 7th Church Anniversary Amid Jubilation

 

CALABAR — Jubilant scenes filled the atmosphere on May 21 as family members, church congregants, associates, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 40th birthday of Apostle Omotosho Tope Joseph alongside the 7th anniversary of his ministry.

 

The colourful double celebration attracted religious leaders, dignitaries, and members of the Christian community, who described the occasion as a reflection of God’s faithfulness and the steady growth of the ministry over the years.

 

Among dignitaries present at the event were Pastor Dr. Elizabeth Aremu, the wife of Bishop Thomas Aremu, Assistant Director-General of the Department of State Services, Kolawole Sokoya, as well as other notable guests.

 

Speaking during the event, Apostle Omotosho expressed gratitude to God and appreciated everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration through prayers, gifts, goodwill messages, and physical presence.

 

He described his attainment of 40 years and the progress recorded by the church within seven years as evidence of divine grace and unwavering support from members and partners of the ministry.

 

“With a heart full of gratitude, I sincerely thank everyone who celebrated with me on my 40th birthday and our 7th Church Anniversary. Your prayers, kind words, gifts, presence, and overwhelming show of love made the occasion truly unforgettable,” he said.

 

The programme featured prayer sessions for Nigeria, prophetic ministrations, thanksgiving, and tributes from members and associates, who praised the cleric for his commitment to spiritual growth, humanitarian service, and mentorship.

Apostle Omotosho as a compassionate leader dedicated to uplifting lives and advancing Christian values within the community.

The celebration ended with a special thanksgiving service and renewed prayers for greater impact and expansion of the ministry in the years ahead.

​The Department of Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Ilorin has announced that a former Chief of Army Staff and former Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Ambassador Lt. General (Rtd) Tukur Buratai (CFR), will deliver its prestigious Distinguished Personality Lecture.
