Primeboy Sues Late Mohbad’s Mother for N50 Million Over Alleged Defamation
The ongoing controversies surrounding the late Nigerian singer Mohbad have taken a new twist, as his childhood friend, Primeboy, has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against Mohbad’s mother, Abosede Adeyemo.
According to court documents, Primeboy alleges that comments made by Adeyemo during an interview on March 28, 2024, were libelous, malicious, and injurious to his reputation. He claims that the statements, which were also published by a news outlet, cast him in a negative light and caused significant damage to his public image.
In the lawsuit, Primeboy is demanding N50 million in damages for what he describes as “libelous, injurious, falsehood, and malicious statements.” The statement accompanying the lawsuit further reads:
“N50 million in damages for libelous, injurious, falsehood, and malicious statements made on the 28th of March, 2024, to defame the claimant in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.”
Details of the specific statements made by Mohbad’s mother have not been disclosed. However, Primeboy’s legal team claims the comments have caused irreparable harm to his character and standing in the community.
The legal battle comes amid heightened public scrutiny over the circumstances of Mohbad’s death, with many of his close associates and family members facing media attention and public speculation.
Mohbad, a fast-rising Nigerian singer, passed away under mysterious circumstances in September 2023. His death has since sparked widespread debates and investigations within the music industry and beyond.
