Providing necessary infrastructure in the education sector is my priority – Ambode

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has said his administration has prioritised the provision of necessary infrastructure in the social sector, particularly in the education sector, so as make the learning environment conducive.

Speaking at the commissioning of the renovated block of six classrooms, two offices and donation of 40 chairs and tables as well as other learning materials for the use of students of Satellite Junior Secondary School, Agboju, by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Ambode noted that the provision of necessary infrastructure in the education sector will restore confidence in public school system which caters mostly for the educational needs of children of the less privileged.

Speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olabis Ariyo, the governor  said “in my last quarterly report, I expressed our commitment to effect necessary changes in the sector, which includes the provision of necessary infrastructure in our public schools system to make learning environment conducive, especially as it caters mostly for the educational needs of children of the less privileged.”

“One of the major strategies to facilitate development and break the cycle of poverty is by making significant investment in the social sector, which education is part of, and this administration is determined to give education the attention that it deserves.”

The Governor commended the management of CCECC for its commitment towards its social responsibility and assured of the state government’s resolve to continue to support the growth of the private sector by providing the enabling environment and promoting investment-friendly policies in the state.

“We are delighted by the kind gesture of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and look forward to more support and collaboration of the private sector and public-spirited individuals as we move the state forward to greater height. I urge residents of Satellite Town to take ownership of this school.

Needless for me to say that the school is your property hence you have to take very good care of it in order to inspire more support from corporate ogranisations and individuals. To the students, I charge you to continue to justify the huge investments on your education by excelling in your studies,” the Governor added
