Queen of Afrobeats! Tems Clinches Second Grammy Win

Tems Wins Best African Music Performance at 67th Grammy Awards

 

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has once again made history by winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards. The ceremony, held on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw Tems secure the prestigious award with her hit single Love Me JeJe.

 

Tems triumphed over strong competition in the category, which included:

  • Tomorrow – Yemi Alade
  • MMS – Asake featuring Wizkid
  • Sensational – Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay
  • Higher – Burna Boy

This marks Tems’ second Grammy win, further cementing her influence on the global music scene. She previously won her first Grammy in 2023 for her contribution to Wait For U, a song by Future featuring Drake.

Tems’ Grammy Journey

Tems received three nominations at the 67th Grammy Awards, bringing her career total to eight. Apart from her victory in the Best African Music Performance category, she was also nominated for:

Isaiah 25:8 our Lord God had spoken this for all Nigerians and we shall have no rebuke among nations .

At the forefront of the Elite Women Musicians Club of Lagos Club is Alhaja Queen Isimot Abake Abiola PQ1st (Omo Opeki), the President. Her leadership is a source of inspiration for many, guiding the Club with a vision of inclusivity and excellence. Supporting her is Alhaja Queen Halimot Ayinla Omowura, the Vice President, whose dedication ensures the smooth operation and growth of the association.

 

Alhaja Badirat Adunni Olaniyan (Just Like That) serves as the Treasurer, managing the financial health of the Club with precision. The Social Secretary, Alhaja Aminat Babalola Balogun (Omotayebi, Iya Kekere Eko), brings vibrancy and connectivity, fostering a sense of community among the members.
