The war between Nigeria’s senator, Isah Hamman Misau, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, took a major turn on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday. While senators deliberated on issues relating to the law enforcement agency as well as the bribery allegation against Idris, Misau told his colleagues that the police boss had flouted the ethics of the agency.
He alleged that the IGP had an affair with a female officer of the law enforcement agency, impregnated and married her. He further alleged that Idris went ahead to promote the female officer despite not qualified for the new rank. The name of the female officer had not been mentioned at the time of this report while the police boss has not officially reacted. He asked his colleagues to probe Idris if the police must be redeemed. The senators have now launched an investigation into allegations of corruption leveled against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, by Senator Isah Misau. NAIJ.com reports that there had been claims and counter-claims over Misau’s status as a police officer. While the senator said he properly resigned from the force before joining politics, the agency said his resignation letter was forged
The Police Service Commission later confirmed that Misau resigned officially. The crisis however continued with Misau alleging that the police was collecting about N120 billion annually from corporate organisations important personalities for security services
