FCMB hosts Media Parley/Workshop
FCMB in its attempt to provide a quality services and empower the society has hosted a Media Parley/Workshop organised under the theme, ‘’Stimulating Responsible New Media Journalism: A Pathway to International Recognition’’.
At the event, which had award winning journalist and expert in new media journalism, Mr. Inigo Gilmore from the United Kingdom, as Guest Speaker, the GMD/CEO of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mr. Ladi Balogun, said the Bank organised the parley/workshop as part of its contributions towards enhancing the skills and competence of journalists to enable them carry out their job in a more professional manner, which will go a long way to develop the country. He stated that FCMBbelieves that the media should be fair, responsible, independent and accountable. Through this way, the media industry and its practitioners would be able to realise their aspirations and add significant value to national development.
Other speakers, including Dr. Larry Izamoje, Mrs. Adesuwa Onyenokwe and Mr. Martins Oloja (Editor of Guardian newspaper), spoke in the same vein, saying that the media has a key role to play in the well-being of the country. They advised practitioners, especially those in the online platform, to effectively and positively harness the opportunities provided by technology while discharging their functions.
