Ondo- PDP Thug ‘Ade Basket’ Assault Pregnant Woman, Leaves Her In Coma
Mr. Fayehun, natively known as “Ade-Basket,” was said to have attacked the forty-six-year-old pregnant woman for daring to challenge his authority during a meeting summoned to settle issues of illegal taxation among timber operators in the State.
Adeleye Fayehun, a notorious Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thug in Akure, Ondo State, has violently beaten up a pregnant woman and left her in a coma over a minor disagreement, SaharaReporters has learned.
The victim, Adenike Adeolu, is a local timber contractor based in the State capital, sources said.
Mr. Fayehun, natively known as “Ade-Basket,” was said to have attacked the forty-six-year-old pregnant woman for daring to challenge his authority during a meeting summoned to settle issues of illegal taxation among timber operators in the State.
Family sources speaking to SaharaReporters’ disclosed that the leaders of the Timber Dealers Association called a meeting at the Infinity Hotel located in Akure where the dastardly incident occurred.
One of the family members claimed in a phone conversation that Mr. Fayehun and his boys assaulted the innocent pregnant woman with several punches and attacks.
“He [Ade-Basket] severally punched the innocent woman in her neck and also dragged her hair with an attempt to kill the pregnant woman for daring to challenge him over an issue relating to the illegal taxation of funds,” the family source told our correspondent.
He disclosed that the brutalized woman had been complaining about the ‘undue taxation’ placed on timber business traders who were frustrated by Mr. Fayehun and his cohorts in the State.
Olusegun Adeolu, husband to the victim who also spoke with SaharaReporters, confirmed that his wife was beaten to a coma by street-boys who were mainly thugs working on the orders of the culprit.
Mr. Adeolu added that the criminal had threatened to kill his wife on issues relating to her timber business for some years.
“They beat up my wife to the point that blood was gushing out of her mouth and left her in a state of coma,” he cried out. “Several times my wife has complained about the way Ade-Basket has been taxing them [women] who engaged in this type of business.”
He disclosed that his injured wife has been hospitalized and called for further justice.
“I don’t want this issue to be swept under the carpet. Please, you have to help me,” the berated husband said.
Security agencies in the State had several times declared the culprit, Mr. Fayehun, wanted for various crimes, SaharaReporters can authoritatively report.
It was gathered that the officers of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have apprehended Mr. Fayehun at one of his hideouts after preparing to flee the town.
Police sources confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters’ New York Office in a different telephone chat on late Thursday evening.
One of the police sources said the arrested culprit made some confessional statements that confirmed his involvement in the maltreatment and assault done on the forty-four-year-old pregnant woman.
A police officer that pleaded anonymity told one of our editors that the criminal is being sponsored by some bigwigs in the Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The idiot has always been on our blacklist for either assaulting young ladies or killing innocent souls in the town of Akure,” the officer said.
“He is just using his influence as a member of the PDP to foment trouble with the belief that his pay-masters would always bail him out,” the angry officer said. “Go and ask people and they will tell you that this miscreant and his boys have murdered sleep in the eyes of many residents.”
Sources revealed to SaharaReporters how the culprit and his terror boys had been maltreating innocent women trading in the timber business in the State.
“We are tired of this man called ‘Ade-Basket’. He is fond of beating women on the street, most especially the ones trading in Timber business,” one source said.
“You would always see him collecting unnecessary taxes from those women before they were allowed to enter into the bush to cut down trees for sales,” the source added.
In 2012, this same culprit attacked a young woman and stripped her naked in a public place following a minor quarrel around the Oke Aro area of Akure, the State capital.
SaharaReporters learned that the family of the victim has petitioned the Inspector General of Police while calling for the assistance of all human right organizations and activists to wade into the case.
