Rival cults attack, one dies in lagos state

Following the attacks between two rival groups Eiye and Aiye confratenity one person found dead in front of a hotel last week Thursday night.
Saharaweeky gathered that Aiye cult group attacks Eiye cult group over supremacy at Osho street, Fagba Iju,area a suburb, Lagos State
It further revealed that at about 8pm ,on 24th of September Aiye confratenity group attacked Eiye group where one of the Eiye member known as Segun Ogumodede (Aka),Badoo was shot in front of the hotel.
An eye witness who spoke with our reporter said the operatives of Lagos state police command attached to Oko Oba divisions were contacted immediately when the fight break out but before the divisional police officer DPO in charge of the station, Chief superintendent of police CSP Chinedu led his Anti robbery and Anti cultism team to the scene the cultists has fled the scene leaving behind their dead member whom was later removed by the police.
A residents who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity said this area was peaceful,we sleep with two eyes closed, but since this hotel was built about a year ago the area has turned to where all source of criminal activities is going on.
“We have been living in the area for a very long time without any fear,the resident can go out as early as possible mostly in the morning,it happened now the groups of bad gangs who are always in the hotel will attack and disposesess you of your valuables. “We have also complained to the owner yet he did not do anything about it we are begging the government to please come to our aid, things are really getting out of hand”.
Our reporter who visited the baale of Orile Egbiri Chief Samuel Iyanla Oye Adegboyega, said i am the Baale of Orile Egbiri for the past 5 years by his grace, the community has been peaceful until Soulmate hotel was built early last year.
“I did not know that this place will become the hideout of hoodlums and i have written to the owner of the hotel,send a warning letter he did’nt responds or cautioned his customer that take average to constitute nuisance in this area
Baale Adegboyega further states that the former divisional police officer DPO in charge of Oko Oba ,Area ‘G’ police commander with other stake holders has once visited the place to access the situation yet no positive actions has taking to address the problem by police.
One of councils member of the community, Chief Ajani Olutade said the community development association (CDA) has written several letters to the hotel owner inviting him to a meeting so that they can know on how to handle the situation but he ignored our letters of invitation.
“We wrote series of letters of invitation to him and he has never honour the letters and we hope the new DPO will take necessary step to look into the matter.”.
When Saharaweekly visited the hotel management to get they own side of the matter,oneof the director, Mr Victor Adeyemo, denied all the allegations saying that what happened has nothing to do with his hotel that they were mere allegations adding that the cultists were fighting from one of street before getting to the front of hotel and shot one of them dead.
According to him, what happened recently have nothing to do with the hotel ,boys were fighting from another street to the hotel is not involved”.

NAWOJ: SEKINAT, CHARITY GETS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists,(NAWOJ), Ogun State Chapter Executives has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Chairman NAWOJ SEKINAT Salam and the Financial Secretary, Charity James, saying that, their leadership reflect the ideal and objectives of NAWOJ.
This was revealed in a communique issued at an Emergency meeting of the Executive held at the NUJ State Council, Iwe-Iroyin in Abeokuta.
The vote of confidence on the Leadership of NAWOJ was unanimously signed by all the five executive members that attended the meeting with the vice chairperson taking apology for official engagement outside the state capital.
According to the communique ” Consequently, NAWOJ Ogun State Chapter, reaffirms it’s unwavering support and confidence in the Chairperson and the Financial Secretary, Sekinat Salam and Charity James respectively, Urge them to continue in their commitment to purposeful leadership in the best interest of the association and the society at large”.
Speaking briefly with Journalists after the emergency Executive meeting, the Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Woman Journalists (NAWOJ), Com. Sekinat Salam, said the meeting was necessary as the news of her suspension was laughable and insulting because it is like a pot calling a kettle black in this case, saying that the Leadership of the State Council, Com. Wale Olanrewaju has no local standing to suspend her or any executive member, even he cannot be a judge in his own case.
According to her” The Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State led by Wale Olanrewaju has always been misusing power without recourse to the constitution of this noble Union, hence has no local standing to suspend me or any executive member “.
She said only the Central Working Committee (CWC) has the constitutional rights to sanction or suspend any members found wanting after due process has been followed.
While calling on members to stay calm, Com. Sekinat Salam assured members of positive representation of NAWOJ at both the State and National level, adding the success recorded under her administration cannot be overemphasized.
She therefore called on the National leadership of NUJ to critically look into the matter, either by setting up independent committee to investigate the issues and resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
