Traditional Ruler Writes Dapo Abiodun Over TASUED Crises
ABEOKUTA– The Baale of Imaweje via Ijagun in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun state has written to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in connection to the alleged killing of a 300 level student of Tai Solarin University of Education, in his domain.
The traditional ruler, through his solicitor, G.T. Adeiye ESQ noted that cultism has been the order of the day and it’s being perpetrated by some of the students of TASUED at Imaweje and at other host communities which according to him has gotten to a disturbing stage.
The solicitor added that, “an indigene of the community was sitting with his father outside their house at Imaweje and 3 students were passing by, this happened on the 26th day of May, 2023 and the fellow in question informed his father that the 3 Students are part of those terrorizing him to join their cult and the father approached them to find out why they are trying to initiate his Son and somehow the altercation escalated into a brawl and one of the 3 Students drew out a matchet and struck the father but the cutlass did not have an effect on him and they turned to the son who reported them and cut him on his hand and fingers while trying to defend his head as we speak the boy is still at the hospital and while this was on, they called our client who rushed to the place and our client in turn called the D.P.O. Omu Police station who sent his men immediately and two out of those two boys were later arrested and taken away by the Police.
“Our Client said on the following day which is 27th May, 2023, he went to Ijebu-Ode to inform the community lawyer of the happenings at his domain and it was while he was there that he received a call back home that one of the boys has been apprehended by the Local Vigilante, V.S.O, that our Client should be coming and he told them that he is at Ijebu-Ode and thereafter called the D.P.O. Omu Police Station again who dispatched his men to the scene and our client too proceeded back home and he and the Police got there at almost the same time and he asked the Police take the fellow apprehended away but the Police said the fellow looked exhausted that he should first be given medical attention and our client directed that the fellow be taken to the hospital but before they could get to the hospital the Student gave up the ghost and our client informed the police immediately.
“Our Client and other people in the community were enveloped with fear as the night drew nearer, but the worst happened in the night when our client’s house and those of other four notable people in the community were set ablaze by the Students of TASUED and our client ran for his dear life and had since reported to the Police at the State Command at Eleweran and unfortunately our Client is being detained and possibly to be arraigned for murder which he is innocent of.
“We are not out to pervade Justice by this our write up and pray that the culprit are found and brought to Justice but to also make sure that the innocent do not suffer unjustly.
“We commiserate with the family of the deceased students and pray that God give them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, we feel their pain and call on the Police to release our client on administrative bail pending the outcome of their investigation and anyone found culpable should be punished in accordance with the Law.

While calling on members to stay calm, Com. Sekinat Salam assured members of positive representation of NAWOJ at both the State and National level, adding the success recorded under her administration cannot be overemphasized.
