Biafra Independent Movement, which makes up of people from the South-East and South-South, are currently planning their elections and they have chosen February 22 for it.
Speaking during a zonal rally at the proposed site of Ojukwu Memorial Library in Enugu Ezike, Enugu State, the leader of BIM, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike said the election would serve as a guide for the Federal Republic of Nigeria to follow.
Uwazuruike, who was represented by Dr. Mrs. Augustina Ugwuoke said, “Our election will not be conducted same way as that of Nigeria; BIM will not give room for election rigging as is the case in Nigeria.
“We are well prepared; we will teach Nigerians how to conduct crisis-free election.
“Very soon, the B-INEC will roll out programmes for the polls”, she said.
Ugwuoke commended members for coming out en-masse to participate in the sensitization forum and their continuous support for their leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, stressing that their dream Biafra Republic will soon be actualized.
“We believe in our leader’s ability to actualize the Biafra Republic; the processes as you can see have commenced. We have also commenced preparations for our census which will take place in the entire Biafra region to ascertain our population.
Ugwuoke assured members of the group that the chairman of Biafra Independent National Electoral Commission (B-INEC), Rev. Fr. Samuel Aniebonam will conduct peaceful and transparent election.
Speaking earlier, the zonal leader, Chief James Omeke said Enugu North Senatorial Zone was taking a cue from their leader to put up a befitting structure for the Ojukwu Memorial Library.
“You can see that we are not mincing words about Biafra Republic; we have acquired land for the Ojukwu Memorial Library in Enugu North Senatorial zone, believing that in no distant time, work will commence as people are ready to contribute towards the project.
“We share in the vision of our great leader, Chief Uwazulike and we are rest assured that our non-violent stance will give us added advantage in achieving Biafra Republic.
“I urge members to remain resolute in the struggle as well as remaining united as there is light at the end of the tunnel”, he stated.
