Opinion: APC Should Listen To Primate Ayodele ‘s Warning On Their National Convention

The All progressive congress (APC) is working towards doing a national convention in order to make some important appointments and election to further move the activities of the party forward.

At the moment, the party doesn’t have a substantial national chairman, all the executives are also working in caretaker committee capacity which is one of the reasons the party will want to urgently do a national convention.

However, for reasons which will be in the interest of the party, popular Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele warned that party not to go ahead with the convention at the date they are planning to have it in order to save the party.

He revealed that the party should hold on with it because he foresees that it will cause confusion and  gang up against some leaders. He also said that there will be many troubles for the party if they go ahead with it

He made this known while also giving some advice to the party on the choice of their candidate ahead of 2023.

If the APC truly wants to survive the heat of the moment, I feel they need to listen to Primate Ayodele on this

AN IMBECILE CALLED DAVID CAMERON & THE HYPOCRISY OF THE BRITISH https://t.co/VCzozlMbsR AN IMBECILE CALLED DAVID CAMERON AND THE HYPOCRISY OF THE BRITISH

The imbecile called David Cameron, who is a former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, needs to be taught a lesson or two. He also needs to be reminded about the sordid and filthy history of his country.

Just one example will suffice. The powers that “saved” Libya from Mu’ammer Ghaddafi, including France, America and Great Britain, are now lifting oil and gas from Libya without payment!

They have also looted Gaddafi’s foreign reserves in excess of US$700 billion dollars!

What could be more corrupt, perfidious, monstrous and evil than this? You took over another country and left it in chaos for the sole purpose of pillaging, sharing and stealing its resources. And this happened under Cameron’s watch as Prime Minister!

Again when he was Prime Minister Cameron described Nigeria as being “fantastically corrupt”. When I listened to him say this on the BBC I didnt know whether to laugh or cry.

His debilitating insolence and staggering hypocrisy reflected the deep and inherent racism and double standard that his ilk are known to stand for and represent.

What else can you expect from an individual that is one step removed from peasant stock and is little more than a grasping and ill-bred plebian who made good?

What else can you expect from a man who failed to make it into Harrow and ended up going to Eton?

What else can you expect from a man who couldn’t make it into Cambridge an ended up going to Oxford?

Cameron has always been second best, has always attended the second best and has always had the second best.

He has never been the best or had the best in his entire life: he has been a distant second all the way. He was also a second rate Prime Minister of a second rate and fading Western Power which lost its glamour and glory many years ago.

There was nothing great, Churchillian or Thatcherite about David Cameron. Even Tony Blair, with all his resplendent self-serving mendacities, shone like a bright star when compared to him.

Cameron and his “Englander” brothers are the last people that should judge or cast aspertions on Nigeria and the Nigerian people. This is especially so given the fact that they contributed immensely to many of our problems.

The truth is that in the history of the world there is no country on earth that has been more viciously overbearing, manipulative, calculating, self-serving, subversive and corrupt than the United Kingdom.

If you doubt that find out what they did to India, Africa, China, the Middle East, Indo-China, the Caribbean, Ireland, the United States and all their other colonies for over 100 years before independence, find out their role in the slave trade, find out how much “corrupt” money from “corrupt” Third World leaders they have insisted on keeping in their banks and find out why the City of London is known as the money laundering capital of the world till today.

The United Kingdom’s wealth, power and economy, over the last 200 years, was built on the sweat, blood, treasure and labour of African slaves, Indian resources and all manner of loot and treasure stolen from her former colonies.

Without those colonies and the pillaging, raping and enslaving of other nations in the name of expanding the frontiers of the “great” British Empire, the United Kingdom would have just been a little known island in the North Sea and she would have amounted to little or nothing.

These are lessons that imbeciles like David Cameron still need to learn. If any nation can be described as being “fantastically corrupt” and built on nothing but gratuitous violence, coercion, fraud, deceit, hypocrisy, piracy, doublespeak and subterfuge, it is Great Britain and not Nigeria.

ICPC FUGITIVE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT’S INLAW.

ICPC FUGITIVE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT’S INLAW.
A running story to the effect that the ICPC has declared “an inlaw of the President” wanted in connection with fraud involving the large sum of money, USD65 million to be exact. This should normally be an affirmation that our anti-corruption agencies/institutions are truly independent and allowed unfettered freedom by the President. Which in fact is the case.
That a state institution can issue such is a measure of the administration’s commitment to accountability, equality, and justice.
To set the records straight,  the person declared wanted by the ICPC is not an inlaw to President Buhari.
While at some point in time the said fugitive from justice had been linked to a family member in marriage, that relationship has ended some years ago. .it is therefore unfortunate to bring the President’s family into this case. It is in our view an attempt to generate views and sell copies of sensational reporting.
The President’s position at all times is that the law is allowed to take its course. As is well known of him, President Muhammadu Buhari will not provide any cover for crime,  no matter who is involved. Garba Shehu.
  • Segun Odunmbaku: A Man On Mission To Transform Ojodu

Segun Odunmbaku: A Man On Mission To Transform Ojodu

    By Fiyinfoluwa Nelson

Hon David Oluwasegun Odunmbaku has officially threw his hat in the ring to contest for the chairmanship of the Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State in the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state slated for July 24, 2021.

With a first and second degree in Business and Information Technology from Dublin Business School, Ireland and a Masters in Computer and Information systems from Liverpool John Moorse University, United Kingdom in 2008, still not done with his quest for educational excellence, Odunmbaku proceeded to the prestigious Havard University School of Government, Boston USA for a programme in Public Financial Management. He also has in his educational kitty an Executive Masters Certificate in Project Management as well as a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from Pan Atlantic University, Victoria Island, Lagos. This impressive academic feat is sure worthy of mention.

As a past Secretary to Ikeja Local Government and current Secretary to Ojodu Local Government Development Authority, he is poised to bring this over a decade experience to improve on governance and service to the people. What makes this more interesting is that he was raised in Ojodu and has remained there in the last 42 years of his life, outside of educational pursuit.

A son of a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, popularly known as Baba Eto, who is a prolific politician and God’s servant, one can conveniently and safely conclude that Odunmbaku is adequately equipped for a time like this.

When asked of what sets him apart from other aspirants jostling for the chairmanship position, Odunmbaku simply retorted: “My experience in governance at the local government level, being the Secretary at Ikeja Local Government and currently at Ojodu LCDA. Apart from that, my passion and love for the people which runs in my family and obviously, I have the right foundation both in terms of educational trajectory and experience to take on the challenges of modern day governance.”

On some of the current issues affecting the council, Odunmbaku said: “Just like everything Post Covid, lives and businesses have been impacted. We need to adopt the new normal and become more creative by deploying technology to tackle developmental issues, youth and women empowerment, job creation, low IGR to mention a few.

In terms of specific plans for the council, he said: “I was born and brought up in Ojodu and so the whole area is a familiar turf for me. I have the passion and desire to build on the fantastic job that the current chairman has done. I want to build and expand the legacies for the betterment of our people in the area of access to basics – health and education and empowerment. Our Agenda would also focus on building the local economy in the LCDA

“At the moment, a statutory 70 per cent of the budget goes to capital projects. There are already plans to scale up social intervention programmes designed to meet the specific needs of our people in Ojodu, especially the elderly, the youths, women, entrepreneurs, and even those that are employed and want to acquire additional skills. This category of persons will heavily benefit from our social intervention initiatives.

“We will aggressively pursue capacity building and job creation. As we are building the competences of the people, we will also put in a programme to link those who have acquired skills with people who needs their services within the locality. I will strive as a youth and member of the younger generation to ensure that the gap between capacity building and absorption for job creation is reduced significantly by calling on businesses within the locality to see themselves as stakeholders and through various CSR initiatives, create employment programmes for our people.

“We plan to invest heavily on social investment programmes that are visible. When people see their money working for them, they will be motivated to pay their taxes. We will improve our health centres and markets. We will seek support on our inner roads, street lights, access to clean drinking water, create prograammes for the less privileged, assist those in the informal sector with palliatives, small loans, as well as train and retrain our youths. In this area, the plan is that our ICT centres must be properly accredited. Being the engine room of growth and development, we will focus on the informal sector in terms of helping them and assisting them to remain in business and grow.”

Odunmbaku, who attended the recent unveiling of a 5-Year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap (2021-2025) by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said his administration would go into partnership with the state government to scale up agriculture and food production.

For clarity, the Roadmap focuses on the development of agricultural value chains where the State has competitive and comparative advantages in order to ensure that the State’s self-sufficiency in food production moves from 18% to 40% in the next five years.

The initiative is also expected to boost food production and drastically reduce post-harvest losses thus encouraging private sector investments that would trigger agricultural transformation in the South-Western States following the examples of countries such as Kenya, Malawi, China among others who, within a 10-year period, made a significant reduction in the poverty level through Agricultural development.

According to Odunmbaku, “In terms of agriculture, post covid, Agriculture is the way to go by ensuring modern farming methods, grants, capacity building, market access and linkages are vigorously pursued to get our youths interested. Now, a lot of our youths are constantly on their mobile phones. With that, we can get our youths interested by providing revolving funds/cooperatives or we can have like Farmers Mart concept where Agricultural products can be gotten at wholesale prices, opened on designated days just like in Europe.

“We will provide off-takers for the famers in Ojodu so that when they are doing their farming, they are assured that somebody somewhere will pick it up. This will help to increase commercial activities. Therefore, we will take advantage of the newly launched 5-year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap for the benefit of our people.”

Specifically in terms of healthcare delivery, Odunmbaku said plans have been firmed up and awaiting implementation for the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHCs) in the LCDA to function optimally and 24-hours daily.

“We will seek to provide alternative source of energy for them to function optimally. It may not be but we will ensure at least there one or two especially in areas with large concentration of people,” he said.

Another area of focus for Odunmbaku is to take advantage of the geographical location of Ojodu as one of the main gateways to Lagos by developing local economy around the Berger transport hub.

“As you know, Ojodu Berger has a major transport hub and as such, I want to create a local economy around the transport hub. We will seek the support and partnership of the state government in this regard. We want to create a lot of facilities such as shops, food courts, among others and in that way, we ensure that money circulates around Ojodu, thereby adding value to the people who are there and also developing the local economy.

“The plan is to transform Ojodu Berger to be like London King’s Cross Station. From King’s Cross Station, you can get to France, Birmingham and other locations in Europe. So also from Ojodu Berger, you can get a bus to any part of the state and anywhere in the country.

“So, I want to make Berger like King’s Cross Station in collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. We have three hubs in Ojodu Berger, Grammar School and Ogba. We want to build on what has been done to create local economy around the parks by pushing people to the three clusters,” Odunmbaku said.

On education, it is a fact that primary school education, enrolment and teachers’ salaries are part of the functions of the local government. Therefore, the plan of Odunmbaku is to put measures in place to facilitate more enrolment of pupils.

“We want more primary schools; we want to double the enrolment of children in schools and in so doing, we are going to ensure that the children have all it takes to be interested in schooling. No one will be left behind especially in public school enrolment. We will continue to encourage parents in this regard. Also, primary school teachers’ salaries have been increased, however, as local council, we hope to do more in terms of providing better learning environment,” he said.

In linking health with environment, Odunmbaku said:  “The THEMES Agenda of BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU administration has already set the tone in its Pillar 2 Health and Environment. While thanking LAWMA and the Office of Environment, we will ride on this and continue to ensure that the environment and issue of waste management will be taken seriously and properly coordinated but there is nexus between health and the environment. Yorubas say ilera loro. Ojodu is a special local government being the first point of contact to people coming from neighboring communities such as Alagbole, Akute, Ibafo, among other areas. A lot of people from these communities daily come to our health facilities to access medical care. We will continuously put measures and programmes in place to ensure no one is left behind in the LCDA.

“Health and environment are intertwined and as such we will do all possible to manage our environment in line with the policies of the state government to safeguard the health of residents. We will work on better roads, more schools, more public health facilities, and so on and so forth. I mean, the infrastructure in Ojodu must be topnotch so that the council becomes a reference point for people coming from outside,” he said.

On sports development, Odunmbaku has this to say: “We don’t have a recreation centre in Ojodu at the moment. We will work to create one. This will be one of the key priorities of our administration to engage our youths. We will also create inter-ward and inter-local government competition. Our youths will be encouraged to actively participate and this will also serve as a platform to discover talents.”

  • Mc Oluomo Explains Why He is Supporting Kendoo

Mc Oluomo Explains Why He is Supporting Kendoo

Mc Oluomo Explains Why He is Supporting Kendoo

The chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo has explained his reasons for throwing his weight behind Mr. Kehinde Adeola Oloyede, aka Kendoo to contest for the chairmanship of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.
Mc Oluomo Explains Why He is Supporting Kendoo
Oloyede is locking horns with three incumbent council officials – vice-chairman, Town Planner Daisi Osho, Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Yusuf Adesanya, and Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Oladipupo Abiola.
Others in the race are veteran politician, Mr. Abiodun Ogundimu, Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye (Skibanj), and the son of late party chieftain, Mr. Badmus.
Narrating how he invited Oloyede to join the race to reconcile their differences after over 22 years of hostile relationship, Akinsanya said he visited the residence of the aspirant on the island to persuade him to start his political journey from the grassroots.
“My brother likes it big. I had to persuade him to let us start from the scratch”, he said in Yoruba, alluding to the proverbial eating of bean cake from its remnants: Mo ni ka ti ibi pelebe mu ole je!
He said he made the overture because he desired better roads and greater development in Oshodi and was confident that Oloyede would make the change.
Assuring that the aspirant would make himself available to the people, Akinsanya said Oloyede would run a responsive government that will throw the doors of the council open to the people.
He lamented that his contributions to the ruling party were to shore up its fortunes during elections to ensure good governance and the provision of capital projects.
Akinsanya also announced that Oloyede would be setting a new record in the history of governance in Oshodi-Isolo local government by running with the first-ever female vice-chairman to promote gender balance and open up more opportunities for women.
The running mate is expected to be Mrs. Bose Agbabiaka, a former supervisor who became a councilor during Ipesa Balogun administration and currently runs a school.
Mrs. Agbabiaka had launched a serious campaign to be the first female chairman of the local government weeks ago but was invited onboard the Oloyede ticket to give it more vigour and feminine appeal.
Assuring Oloyede of winning the primaries, Akinsanya said he would mobilize more than enough crowd to secure victory at the party primaries and the local government elections holding on July 24.
He promised to hold another rally after Ramadan to fete the participants enjoining them to go out and canvass for the victory of Oloyede at the polls.
Akinsanya’s open declaration of sponsoring Oloyede emerged as the news made the round that incumbent Supervisor for Environment, Yusuf Adesanya, is being backed by the outgoing local government chairman, Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh for the chairmanship.
Everyone has been waiting to see who will earn Muse-Ariyoh’s support among his aides and allies.
A few close watchers of the local government politics said they were not surprised because Yusuf, a businessman who made good in the furniture sector, is a staunch member of his political group.
Muse-Ariyoh’s two terms of seven years at the local government and four years as the secretary of the Conference of local government chairmen packs substantial influence that he will certainly deploy in the struggle against the opponents.
Many supporters of Daisi Osho, a town planner, and incumbent vice-chairman, were surprised that he didn’t get the support of his boss despite serving faithfully in the past three and a half years.
This decision seemed to have jolted his loyalists and sponsors leading to rumours that he may collapse his campaign structure and back Badmus.
But Osho dismissed the rumours in an interview with ECHO NEWS, declaring that he would fight till the end.
“I am fully in the race, I am not joking to have obtained the chairmanship form of N2 million, 50 thousand Naira, Even if it is sold for N10, I will not joke with it, not at this level. If anyone is collapsing his campaign, it’s not for someone like me and I’m saying this with all sense of responsibility and not out of proportion because I know my worth.
“It is best to have a vice-chairman that has been in the position of governance with lots of experience. It’s not against my candidature having served twice as vice chairman, it should even qualify me the more with all that I have learned.
“This is the more reason that the position should go to the person that has served twice as vice chairman with the substance that he has brought into the governance, there is no sense in the rumuor.
Reacting to the suggestion that he might back Badmus’ son, he said: “Badmus’ son is a brother, a young man coming up and local government association is a serious business, it’s not a joke, not a walk in the aisle, one must be equal to the task to fit in. if an Elephant is standing, it should be known that it’s an Elephant. The same thing goes to the Lion when it roars, it should neither be compared to an ant standing nor a cock crowing.

Lagos Assembly considers bill to establish Legislative, research institute
The Lagos House of Assembly is currently considering a bill to establish the state’s Legislative and Research Institute.
The bill scaled second reading on Tuesday with members of the House speaking glowingly about its advantages.
The private-member bill sponsored by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, aims at building legislative capacity and sharing of knowledge as well as attracting both local and international stakeholders to related areas of research and academic works.
According to Obasa, the bill is hatched for the sustenance of efficient and effective legislative activities in the State.
“This bill is viable and also for other legislatures in service of the parliament.
“Other States can share in it since the centre will be a learning space for councilors and Local Government chairmen, promoting and deepening democracy in our State and beyond.
“The institute will also engage international legislative bodies like the African Parliamentary Union where we can acquire more knowledge,” he explained.
Commending the Speaker for the bill, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2), noted the benefits of the proposed law to include the induction and training of new legislative members and refresher courses for existing members; training of legislative staff of the House; and fiscal training in the area of lawmaking.
He added that the laws of the House will also be beneficial in terms of research from the Institute.
Yishawu said the bill would help to ensure laws made are continually backed with scientific data while appraising existing laws or repealing old ones.
“Education is a lifelong learning process, medium of transfer of knowledge from one generation to another and to have an institution to formalise the sharing of knowledge across the entire scope is a welcome and noble idea and we must do everything amongst ourselves to improve the capacity of lawmakers,” he said.
Contributing, the Leader of the House, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, maintained that the bill has so many merits that would promote performance in the State.
Agunbiade argued that other State Houses of Assembly would benefit from the bill when it is passed.
On his part, Hon. Desmond Elliot commended the Speaker saying that the House is known for its proactiveness in coming up with laws that are beneficial to the State and the country.
He recalled how the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps had helped the State.
Elliot noted that the establishment of the institute would add to the great repute of the State.
He, however, recommended that the bill should include the collaboration of some institutes so it would have the capacity to cover Diploma and Masters degree programmes.
Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu adopted the position of his colleagues on the bill adding that the establishment of the Institute would serve as a recognition from international legislative bodies.
Hon. Rotimi Olumoh said the bill would help grow knowledge especially with the creation of a standard library.
Contributing on the bill, Hon. Victor Akande, said: “Mr. Speaker, you have always facilitated vigorous bills that have translated into laws and I am sure you will do better at the upper chamber in the Senate.
“I believe we should call the bill, the Lagos State Institute of Advance Legislative Studies to have a connotation with Ph.D certification.”
Hon. Femi Saheed described the bills always passed by the House as a total reflection of the situation in the country.
“With the population of 25 million people, if we want democracy to be enhanced in Nigeria, we need an institution that will uphold it and this bill will add quality to lawmaking and enhance democractic tenets, saving cost for the State in terms of educational tourism and increase the know-how of the lawmakers elected into office,” he said.
The Speaker directed the Committees on Education and Tertiary Institution to expedite action on the bill and report to the House in three weeks.

According to the Speaker, the workers in the country have shown, overtime, that they believe in the country and what it can offer despite its current challenges.

In a statement released in Lagos on Friday by his media office, Speaker Obasa urged the workers to continue to keep hope alive that the Nigeria of everybody’s dream would be achieved.

“It is not a mistake that May 1 is dedicated to workers. In Nigeria, everyone understands the sacrifices made by the country’s workers for the day-to-day existence of the population.

“These sacrifices come in different ways including in the form of hopes, dreams and prayers for a better country. To say these hopes have helped us positively in our journey so far is to say the least.

“I sincerely want to thank our workers at the Lagos State House of Assembly, those in the state’s civil service and in Nigeria for their individual and collective contributions to the success of the legislative arm of government and the country.

“Today in Lagos, we are rated above the common standards of excellence but this is because of the efforts and contributions of our workers, not just to sustain the tempo, but to add that extra to their jobs.

“While I congratulate our workers both in Lagos State and in Nigeria, I urge them to continue to keep being optimistic that the future of our expectations will happen in our lifetime,” Obasa said in the statement.
