…As Suspects Blame Police and Soldiers For Denying Them Access To See Relatives

Edo State Police command yesterday paraded a total number of 126 Suspects involving in various kinds of crimes in the State during the #ENDSARS Protest.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Benin City, Commissioner of police in Edo State Mr Johnson Babatunde Kukumo, said out of 126 Suspects paraded ten of them are escapees from the prison who came out through the jailbreak and went back into robbery.
CP Kukumo said the Inspector General of Police had given them the order to arrest those criminals, hoodlums and armed robber that are causing mayhem and trouble in the state.
The police boss said some of the prisoners who escaped from Oko prison and White House correctional centre who went into robbery had been rearrested. He asserted that, some of the arms and ammunition looted by the suspects had been recovered.
He assured all Edo people to go into their various businesses, that the police is capable of restoring peace to the state.
Meanwhile, a 76 years old retired solider, Fidelis Iyamu, were also paraded but blamed the Nigeria Army for his arrest and unprofessional conduct.
Mr Fidelis were arrested around Aduwawa axis in Uhunmwonde local government area of the state. According to him, he was on his way to get a native medicine for his sick grandson who was suffering from ailment (spleen) and suddenly arrested by the soldiers for violating the curfew imposed by the state government.
” soldiers arrested me, when I was coming from where I went to treat my grandson. I went to give money to the herbal native doctor, it was when I was trekking back home soilder arrested me, around 8:pm.
I am not among those who stole food items in Government warehouses. I even told the soldiers that I am a retired soldier, they didn’t listen to me, Iyamu said.
Also paraded, was Rosemary Asemota 41 years old, said she was arrested by soldiers for violating the curfew made by the government. She said she had spent a week in Police custody and the police didn’t allow her relatives to see her.
