EFCC Confirms Arrest of Yahaya Bello

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has finally been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of money laundering, breach of trust, and the misappropriation of N80.2 billion.
EFCC Confirms Arrest of Yahaya Bello
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to ARISE News Digital, stating that Bello was taken into custody on Monday afternoon.
Oyedele said Bello was arrested by the Anti-Graft agency’s chief security officer when he was sighted in the car park.
“An arrest can take place anywhere,” he said, reiterating that Bello can’t leave unless he’s allowed to.
“He’s still in our custody,” Oyedele affirmed, continuing that he was brought in at 12:54 pm.
Usman Ododo, the current governor of Kogi State, reportedly played a key role in the arrest. It was reported that Ododo brought Bello to Abuja earlier in the day.
This marks a turning point in the commission’s pursuit of the former governor, who has evaded arrest for months despite repeated attempts.
The EFCC first declared Bello wanted in April after failed attempts to secure his arrest. In September, he appeared at the EFCC’s Abuja office in the company of Governor Ododo but left without being detained. Bello’s counsel had earlier informed the court that his client’s whereabouts were unknown, citing safety concerns.
The commission intensified its efforts following an August 20 ruling by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which ordered Bello to present himself for arraignment. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede alleged that Bello had withdrawn $720,000 from state coffers to prepay his child’s school fees abroad.
Bello faces a 19-count charge filed by the EFCC, primarily centered on allegations of money laundering. His arraignment has been repeatedly stalled due to his absence from court proceedings. The commission alleges that Bello has been under the “protective custody” of the Kogi State government since being declared wanted.
The EFCC has described the court’s August ruling as a “vindication” of its position that Bello must answer to the charges. With his arrest now secured, the case is expected to proceed to trial.
The development has sparked conversations around accountability and the role of political immunity in Nigeria. Bello’s case will likely serve as a litmus test for the EFCC’s resolve in tackling corruption among high-profile political figures.

*Let Go of Everything That Hurts Your Soul” By Prudent Ludidi

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, I want to talk about a crucial aspect of living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. It’s about letting go of everything that hurts your soul.

*Let Go of Everything That Hurts Your Soul" By Prudent Ludidi

We all have things in our lives that drain our energy, weigh us down, and make us feel stuck. These things can be relationships, habits, thoughts, or emotions that no longer serve us. They can be toxic, abusive, or simply unfulfilling.

But here’s the thing: we have the power to let go of these things. We have the power to release the burdens that weigh us down and to free ourselves from the chains that bind us.

Letting go is not always easy. It can be painful, difficult, and scary. But it’s necessary. It’s necessary for our growth, our healing, and our happiness.

When we hold on to things that hurt our soul, we’re essentially saying that we’re not worthy of better. We’re saying that we’re willing to settle for less, to tolerate pain and suffering, and to sacrifice our own well-being.

But I want you to know that you are worthy of better. You are worthy of love, care, and respect. You are worthy of happiness, joy, and fulfillment.

So, I want to encourage you to let go of everything that hurts your soul. Let go of the toxic relationships, the negative self-talk, and the self-doubt. Let go of the fear, the anxiety, and the worry.

Let go of the things that make you feel small, insignificant, and unworthy. Let go of the things that drain your energy and make you feel exhausted.

Let go, and let in. Let in the love, the light, and the positivity. Let in the joy, the happiness, and the fulfillment.

Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t give to others if you’re not taking care of yourself. You can’t live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life if you’re holding on to things that hurt your soul.

So, take care of yourself. Take care of your mind, body, and spirit. Take care of your heart and your soul.

Let go of everything that hurts your soul, and make space for the things that nourish and uplift you. Make space for love, joy, and happiness.

You deserve to live a life that makes you feel alive, happy, and fulfilled. You deserve to live a life that honors your soul.

So, let go, and let in. Let in the love, the light, and the positivity. Let in the joy, the happiness, and the fulfillment.

Remember, you are worthy of love, care, and respect. You are worthy of happiness, joy, and fulfillment.

Let go of everything that hurts your soul, and start living the life you deserve.

Now, I want to leave you with a few questions to reflect on:

What are the things in your life that hurt your soul?

What are the things that make you feel small, insignificant, and unworthy?

What are the things that drain your energy and make you feel exhausted?

Take a moment to reflect on these questions. Take a moment to acknowledge the things that hurt your soul. And then, take a moment to let them go.

Let go of the past, let go of the pain, and let go of the hurt. Let go of everything that no longer serves you.

And when you’re ready, let in the love, the light, and the positivity. Let in the joy, the happiness, and the fulfillment.

Remember, you are worthy of love, care, and respect. You are worthy of happiness, joy, and fulfillment.

Let go of everything that hurts your soul, and start living the life you deserve.

Soroptimists International Launches 16 Days Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence

By Ifeoma Ikem

In a bid to combat the scourge of gender-based violence, Soroptimists International Nigeria Association (SINA), a non-governmental organization, has commenced its 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

This annual international campaign, which runs from November 25 to December 10, aims to raise awareness, mobilize action, and partner with stakeholders to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.

The alarming rate of child molestation, rape and domestic violence against women has become a persistent concern in Nigeria. Many victims are forced into silence due to family threats and the fear of societal trauma. The 16 Days of Activism campaign seeks to break this silence and promote a culture of zero tolerance for gender-based violence.

According to Mrs Mubarak Augusto-Agoro,
President of SINA at a press conference at it’s Ikoyi-Lagos office, the organization is committed to making its voice heard on this critical issue.

As an NGO with general consultative status with the United Nations, SINA is poised to address the attitudes and behaviors that contribute to the fear of violence among women in their daily lives.

“As a leading women’s organization, we call on all our clubs in Nigeria to stand tall in orange, showing the world that we are part of this crusade to say no to violence against women and girls,” Agoro emphasized.

“We also urge politicians to match their commitments with adequate resources to stand with us and end violence against women and girls.”

The 16 Days of Activism campaign is a call to action for individuals, organizations and governments to work together to prevent violence and ensure justice for women and girls worldwide.
This year’s campaign also emphasizes the need for governments to assess their investments in gender-based violence prevention.

As SINA joins the global community in observing the 16 Days of Activism, the organization urges citizens to show solidarity by speaking out against gender-based violence and ensuring that justice is served when necessary. By working together, we can create a world free from violence against women and girls.
