The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has called on judicial officers in the country to emulate the sterling qualities of Justice Mojeed Adekunle Owoade, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division.

Abiodun made the call while fielding questions from newsmen after attending the valedictory Court Session in honour of the Justice Owoade, held at the Court of Appeal Ibadan.

The governor noted that judicial officers, particularly the young ones, have a lot to learn from the retiring judge.

He said that the judge who just clocked 70 years is a man of impeccable character, who started from a humble beginning to become a leading light in the nation’s judiciary, adding that “apart from being an erudite scholar, he is also very disciplined”.

“He is defined by competent, good working ethic, good character and discipline. The bench will miss him”, Abiodun added

While wishing the retired judge a restful retirement, the governor charged him not rest on his oars, but make use of his time, wealth of experience and energy to serve God and humanity by rendering useful advice and imparting on the young ones.

 

 

He hailed the judge for his hard work, scholarship and dedication, which made him to be selected as the only Nigerian invited to make contribution to the International Criminal Encyclopedia.

In her tribute, the President, Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban Mensem, said the Justice Owoade had risen to the demand and responsibilities bestowed on a judicial officer as a hardworking, fair-minded and courteous jurist who has an impressive command of a wide range of the law.

 

 

While emphasizing the qualities of Owoade who had served in Ilorin, Calabar and Kaduna Divisions of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mensem opined that his vast contributions have enhanced the essence of his judgments, making them resilient to stand the test of time.

Responding, the retiring judge described the Appeal Court as an intermediate court in the nation’s judiciary, saying that the moving of judges from one division to another entails a lot of sacrifice which should be adequately compensated.

 

 

While stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law in the country, he called on the Federal Government to improve the welfare of judicial officers, especially that of judges, for optimal service delivery,

The special court session was attended by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, the Matriarch of the Bar, Chief (Mrs.) Folake Solanke, amongst others.

Sahara Weekly Reports That The Edi Abali Group has raised an alarm concerning a security threat to the ancestral home and assets of Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, the Paramount Ruler of Edi Abali Group of War Canoe and Chieftaincy Houses in the Kalabari Kingdom of Rivers State, by the military.

In a public notice issued by the Edi Abali Group it states that credible intelligence has revealed plans by elements within the 103 Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Obuama to provoke a confrontation and disrupt the peace in the area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to the notice, the plot specifically targets Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, who is currently out of the country. The army allegedly plans to exploit his absence in order to create a crisis that could be wrongly attribited to the community members, resulting in attacks on innocent individuals. The Edi Abali Group clarifies that there are no issues between their community, the army, and Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari or his company, Royal Fouche Services Limited.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The notice highlights that the tensions arose after Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari spoke out about the involvement of some elements of the Nigerian Army in oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta. These activities reportedly deprived the government of the much-needed revenue, leading to displeasure among these elements. The group believes that they are deliberately instigating a crisis involving the personnel of Royal Fouche Services to justify an attack on innocent indigenes of the Kalabari communities, particularly in Obuama where Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari is based, as well as the 103 Battalion.

“The army in Obuama is aware of his absence from the country and plans to exploit this to create a crisis, which will be wrongly attributed to community members, leading to attacks on innocent individuals.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Edi Abali Group calls upon the Nigerian Army to be aware of this plot and to ensure that they are not manipulated into compromising peace and security in the area. They also highlight the proven record of collaboration between Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari and Royal Fouche Services Limited with security agencies in combating terrorism, kidnapping, and insurgency.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The group aims to inform the public, as well as the people of Kalabari and Rivers State, about this planned provocation targeting innocent individuals, including Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari. They emphasize his commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government and Governor Sim Fubara-led Rivers State Governments in ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.

The prophetic hall of fame, prophet Godwin Ikuru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Lagos has mocked the former governor of Kogi state,Yaya Bello,who has been placed on the wanted list of EFCC to stop running away and submit himself for clarifications since EFCC is not a dragon or python that swallows people.

The handsome prophet believes that Bello is currently on the run because he knows that he’s guilty of the charges against him.He said at his residence in Ikeja yesterday ” I don’t know why Yaya Bello is running away from EFCC if his hands are clean,for God sake,EFCC is not a dragon or python that swallows people,he should be courageous to submit himself to them,if his hands are clean,why run?”

The prophet Thanked the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for empowering the body with the necessary powers to go after those who has swindled and looted the common wealth of the people.

Finally,he commended the chairman of EFCC for the bold steps the organisation is taking in order to help recover the looted resources of the Nigerian nation.He encouraged the chairman to continue with his good works,he urged him not to be afraid because he’s praying for him and nothing evil will happen to him.
