Ex Niger president, Osinbajo, Atiku, govs, others Storm Buhari son’s wedding
BUHARI–The former president of Niger Republic, Muhammadu Issoufu, Nigerian vice president professor Yemi Osinbajo, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and other eminent politicians, attendEE the wedding of Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari, in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, many state governors, ministers, and federal lawmakers were also present at the event.
Buhari’s son, Yusuf, got married to the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Zahra Bayero in Kano on Friday.
Among the dignitaries that attended the event were former President Goodluck Jonathan, a former President of Niger Republic, Muhammdu Isoufu; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, governors Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), and Babagana Zulum (Borno), among others, Daily Trust said on Friday.
The couple was joined together as man and wife by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ali Isa Pantami, at Bichi Central Mosque.
Buhari’s nephew, Maman Daura, received the bride on behalf of the President, while an influential businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, gave out the bride on behalf of the Bayero family.
Meanwhile, a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has been criticized for his friendship with Pantami, after he posted a picture of himself with the minister and other prominent personalities at the wedding of the President’s son in Kano.
Fani-Kayode had stated, “Flew into Kano with my friends and brothers Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, Governor Babagana Umar Zulum of Borno State, Senator Sani Ahmed Yarima, Senator Ali Ndume, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, Hon. Minister Isa Pantami, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others for the wedding.”
His post on Pantami had elicited different reactions as social media users accused the former minister of inconsistency.
In April when Pantami was under fire over some comments he made in the past showing sympathy for some terrorist organizations, Fani-Kayode had labeled him a terrorist and called for him to be sacked.
“He (Pantami) is a religious bigot, an ethnic supremacist, an unrepentant jihadist, a lover of bloodshed, carnage, and terror, and a psychopathic and clearly insane individual.
“Pantami is not fit to be a minister of the Federal Republic, but he is also not fit to walk our streets freely,” he had said. Convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, was among Nigerians who attacked Fani-Kayode over his new post.
“Hunger is a bastard! May the cruelest form of hunger never happen to us!” Sowore tweeted.
An activist and former ally of the ex-minister, Deji Adeyanju, wrote, “FFK is already in Kano for Buhari’s son’s wedding. Same Buhari some people wished dead. In this life, it’s so important to have principles no matter how poor you are; if not you will start looking like a fool. Kai!”
Another social media user said, “Anyone that can pay for his ‘mamba’ is who he will follow. No principle, no value. Only wide nose and deep stomach”
“Let’s pardon him so he can eat wedding Jollof in peace. FFK cannot be bitter and not celebrate the children getting married. We should not mind his assault on Buhari,” another commenter said.
