A supposed man of God and General Overseer of Christ In All Nations Church, based in Lagos, Pastor Abraham Sunday, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl, during a marathon three-day deliverance prayer he was ‘conducting’ for her at his house at Adalemo Estate, Toll Gate area, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Sunday was arrested by men of the Ojokoro Police Division from where he was transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
It was gathered that the girl whose family is close to that of the pastor, had gone to an hospital on August 28, to treat a sickness and on her way home, she met the pastor who prophesied to her that her sickness was not natural and that she needed spiritual deliverance.
Not suspecting anything, she followed him to his house for the prayers Pastor Sunday promised her, only for him to keep her there as his sex slave for three days.
The secret of Pastor Sunday came to light when the landlord of the house, suspecting what was going on, reported to a non-governmental organisation in the area and the NGO in turn informed the police.
The police stormed the house and rescued the girl and arrested the sex-crazed man. The teenager was taken to a hospital where a medical test confirmed that she had been sexually defiled severally.
A source close to the family narrated how the mother of the girl came to trust the pastor that much as to leave her child with him:
“The pastor was like a foster father to the girl. She was ill and had gone to a hospital in the area. While returning from the hospital, she boarded the same bus with the pastor, who said he would take her to a place for prayers.
Since the suspect was a family friend, she did not doubt him. So, they went to the pastor’s apartment, where he camped and raped her for three days. The victim’s mother did not even know about the deliverance prayer.
On Monday, the landlord and some neighbours got suspicious of the pastor’s arrangement with the teenager and they alerted a non-governmental organisation in the area, which in turn invited the police.
The girl was rescued and rushed to a hospital, where a medical test confirmed rape. The suspect was arrested immediately.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Patricia Amadin, confirmed the pastor’s arrest.
“The police have arrested the suspect, and the matter has also been transferred to the SDCI, Yaba.”
