It was a grand celebration of life, legacy, and motherhood in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as Mama Victoria Olaitan Abiodun, the beloved mother of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, marked her 90th birthday in style.
The well-planned event, held at The Apostolic Secondary School, Iperu Remo, turned into a historic gathering of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures, traditional rulers, business moguls, and celebrities, truly a reflection of the celebrant’s influence and her son’s towering stature in the nation’s leadership landscape.
The celebration kicked off around 1:00 p.m. with ace comedians Gbenga Adeyinka and Tee A serving as comperes, warmly welcoming dignitaries as they arrived at the venue.
To accommodate the massive turnout, multiple gigantic event centers were beautifully set up for various categories of guests, but the VIP hall was undoubtedly the centerpiece, glittering with Nigeria’s political powerhouses and societal icons.
Among the distinguished guests were Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, and his wife, Hajia Nana Shettima; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi); Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State; Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State; Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who spoke on behalf of the governors; and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State.
Also in attendance were former governors, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, renowned industrialist Chief Razaq Okoya, billionaire businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke (father of superstar singer Davido), and respected statesman Chief Sunny Kuku.
The royal class was equally well represented, with the Acting Awujale of Ijebuland Chief Sunny Kuku, Oba Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Elegushi, Oba Alara, and several other distinguished monarchs gracing the celebration.
Music legend King Sunny Ade (KSA) added glamour and rhythm to the event, serenading the celebrant with a soulful rendition of the birthday song before taking full control of the stage with his evergreen tunes. His electrifying performance kept guests dancing and celebrating Mama Victoria’s life of grace, devotion, and impact.
Mama Victoria Abiodun, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, was all smiles as tributes poured in from friends, family, and dignitaries, especially from the Nigerian First lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who described her as “a virtuous woman, prayer warrior, and matriarch whose legacy continues to inspire generations.”
Indeed, the 90th birthday celebration of Mama Victoria Olaitan Abiodun was more than an event, it was a national gathering of honour, a celebration of motherhood, and a moment of history that will remain unforgettable in the hearts of all who attended.

BUA Condemns Attack in Okpella, Mourns Fallen Security Personnel
Okpella, Edo State — BUA Group has expressed deep sadness over the tragic attack that occurred on Friday, September 5, 2025, near its Okpella facility in Edo State, which led to the death of eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and a civilian driver.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, September 7, the company conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the NSCDC, and the Government of Nigeria. It also extended wishes of quick recovery to the officers injured during the incident.
The company noted with serious concern the abduction of a foreign expatriate during the attack, while confirming that four other individuals were rescued unharmed. According to the statement, BUA is working closely with relevant security agencies to secure the safe return of the abducted expatriate and ensure that those behind the act are brought to justice.
“The safety of our people, partners, and host communities remains paramount,” the management stated, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the risks and sacrifices endured by security personnel across the country.
BUA emphasized that the courage of the fallen officers “will never be forgotten,” while reiterating its commitment to supporting the families affected and strengthening collaboration with security authorities to safeguard lives and assets in the region.

Dangote Truck not responsible for Auchi Accident, says Eyewitness.
The Dangote Cement truck did not cause the tragic accident, which occurred on the Auchi-Okpella-Okene road, near Omega Fire Ministry in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, contrary to online reports.
An eyewitness, Audu Omale, who gave a vivid account of the accident, recalled that “a third-party truck loaded with cement was moving in the opposite direction of the Dangote Cement (DCT) CNG truck on a slopy road. The commercial truck driver lost control of his truck due to a suspected brake failure, ran into a moving vehicle, a motorcycle, and eventually crashed into the side of the DCT truck. The DCT CNG truck caught fire in the process.
“Consequently, three persons from the vehicle hit by the third-party truck lost their lives, while two persons sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The DCT truck driver escaped to avoid a mob attack,” Omale clarified.
In a related development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed that the accident involved two trucks, one belonging to Dangote Cement, another truck, which has not been identified, and a GLK Mercedes-Benz car.
The Edo PPRO noted that all three occupants in the GLK were confirmed dead in the hospital, while the Dangote truck caught ffirewhich was brought under control.
“I can confirm to you that three vehicles were involved in an accident in Auchi at midday: two trucks and one GLK Benz. The police moved to the scene of the accident and evacuated three occupants of the GLK to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
“Two of the vehicles involved were trucks, one belonging to Dangote Cement and another unidentified one. The Dangote truck caught fire and was brought under control,” Yamu stated. He added that the investigation was ongoing.
