HOW LAGOS STATE APC STATE CHAIRMAN, CHIEF HENRY AJOMALE DIRECTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CONVENER OF BROOM UNITED MOVEMENT (BUM), MR. FOUAD OKI

As a fallout to launching of a pressure group in the APC last Tuesday, 24th February 2018, the State Chairman of the APC in Lagos State directed the immediate suspension of Mr. Fouad Oki, a Vice Chairman of the Party, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and Convener of Broom United.
Chief Ajomale summoned the duo of Surulere Local Government Party Chairman and Party Secretary, Alhaji Shakiru Ajao and Mr. Ganiyu Akanni respectively to his office at the Party State Secretariat at about 2.00 pm on Wednesday 25th February 2018 with strict instruction to empanel an investigative committee on Mr. Fouad Oki for convening the BUM and thereafter suspend him indefinitely from the Party. According to Chief Ajomale, this is necessary in order to stop others from doing the same thing. He further stated that he was acting on the instruction from above.
He claimed that, the only agenda which is acceptable to the Party in the State at this time is the second term endorsement of the Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, anything outside that is not needed and will be resisted by all means possible.
The LG chapter has appropriately summoned Mr. Fouad Oki to appear before the investigative committee on Tuesday 6th March 2018 at the Party Secretariat at Adelabu Street, Surulere.
Our correspondent contacted Mr. Fouad Oki on this development and he confirmed the receipt of the said invitation letter written to him to appear before an investigative committee on BUM. He stated further that, the letter did not state his offence or any article of the Party constitution which he has breached or purportedly breached contrary to Article 21(B) of the Party’s constitution. He stated that he has “humbly accepted the invitation and will appear before the Panel. He stressed that he has no cause to worry.” He said “I am not seeking for any office. I am here to serve and bring unity to our party. I call on all aggrieved party men and women to give BUM a chance to rebuild our party to give hope to Party members of all shade and creed”
He reiterated the philosophy of BUM that “We are united in reaffirming the ideals that made our Party in 2013 to break the yoke of ethnicity and divisive politics to unite under an amalgamated legacy Parties to elect a Pan-Nigerian President. Our members are growing by the day. As of today, we have over 25 LGA Party Chairmen and Executives as well as over 150 Ward Executives aside other members at the grassroots, our members are looking forward to a party of inclusion, the party of economic opportunities, the party of freedom and a united Party that will rise from the ashes of intimidation, imposition and God Fatherism to the mountain of hope.
Our people are looking with nostalgia to the freedom of association without being coerced into a force second term agenda, the respect for our members and the sense of belonging that pervade our Party under leaders that are weak, self centred and lack capacity to institutionalize internal democracy. We the stakeholders are resolved to rebuild, renew and rebrand our great party to anchor the dreams of our founding fathers and give wings to the hopes of our members who live in uncertainty,”
Our concerted efforts he stated, will lead to a new party with responding ideals, adding that the decision to go ahead with the reconciliation of our members is the only objective we are striving to achieve.
He added that the action of the State Chairman of the party in directing the LGA chapter to suspend him at all cost was in gross violation of established procedure and disciplinary process. He said “Our founding fathers are very resolute in the kind of party that we are building; a Party that would ensure that, everybody is cared for and carried along, a Party that will not tolerate anything that will take away members rights to choose their leaders and representatives without force or intimidation. BUM will ensure that our Party’s constitution is abide with and implemented to the letter, where every member will have a sense of belonging and can actualize his aspiration in an atmosphere devoid of imposition or intimidation.

VP Shettima Set to Lead Delegation to Zamfara as Governor Dauda Lawal Formally Joins APC
VP Shettima Set to Lead Delegation to Zamfara as Governor Dauda Lawal Formally Joins APC
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has finalized plans to receive Vice President Kashim Shettima for the formal defection and reception of Governor Dauda Lawal into the ruling party, scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
State APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, disclosed this during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Gusau, the state capital. He noted that the Vice President would be joined by the party’s national leadership to mark what he described as a landmark political realignment in the state.
Maikatako expressed the party’s excitement over Governor Lawal’s return, recalling that Zamfara had historically been an APC stronghold and that the Governor was previously a bona fide member of the party before his earlier exit.
“We all know that Zamfara has long been one of the APC’s stronghold states, where the defected Governor was once a bona fide member. Now that he has decided to return home, having been satisfied that the APC remains his second choice after the one he left for obvious reasons,” Maikatako stated.
The Chairman called on all party faithful across the 147 wards in the state’s 14 local government areas to turn out en masse to honour the Vice President’s visit. He emphasized that the event was strategically positioned to bolster the party’s popularity and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a strong appeal for unity, Maikatako urged members to set aside all factional tendencies, stressing that the APC remained one political family with shared goals, particularly the ambition to make Zamfara and Nigeria great again.
Echoing similar sentiments, a former state APC Chairman, Lawal M. Liman, appealed to members to cascade the message to their wards and local government areas. He reinforced the need for cohesion, noting that the party’s collective strength would be critical to achieving success in future elections.
All eyes are now on Gusau as the ruling party prepares for a high-profile political gathering expected to further consolidate its influence in Zamfara State.
