Everything one does in life can make a difference but it’s up to one to decide what kind of difference one wants to make. For the newly crowned Ife Monarch, His Imperial Majesty Enitan Adeyeye, leadership is not in size or age but in will, power and wisdom. The young monarch who was hosted by Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, was told a story he probably never heard before.

He told him that apart from Ooni Olubuse, no Alaafin and Ooni has ever had any quarrel on supremacy before. He said he has never regarded any Oba in Yorubaland as second fiddle…….and that whenever he visits any Oba, whether Akirun, Timi etc, he will eat with them. Worthy of note today is the fact that Ooni and his entourage also ate and drank at Oyo Palace.

Alaafin said further that when he was enthroned, he took Ooni Aderemi as a father and Ooni Aderemi too also took him to confidence on several issues. He said Aderemi always gave him any assignment that has to do with history and historical presentations because of his vast knowledge about Yoruba history. And when Ooni Aderemi became very old and could no longer attend Council of Obas meetings again, himself and other Obas will always visit him to brief him on whatever transpired.

On one occasion, Alaafin relayed, there was money given to the council and he together with other obas took the money Ooni Aderemi in his palace. After showing Ooni the money, Ooni Aderemi ordered that the money be taken to his inner room. Ooni Aderemi then asked them what they will like to eat. Alaafin quickly opted for freshly prepared pounded yam……..While the food was being served, one of the obas asked Alaafin whether they were not going to forfeit their share of the money already taken to Ooni’s inner room if they eat the pounded yam…….Ooni heard but kept quiet.

After they had all taken the meal, Ooni told them that the money in the inner room belonged to him as their elder……no money that entered his inner room can be shared again……”when next you get another money, share that one among yourself…..but this one is for me….” LOL……They all shook their agbada and left. However, while rounding up his story, Alaafin said Ooni Aderemi was found of praying for him ALWAYS……Aderemi who himself spent 50 years on the throne always told him “you will stay long on the throne”…..and before he left his palace that day too, Ooni prayed for him as usual. Alaafin acknowledged that one of the things sustaining him till date, 45 years after he assumed the throne, is the fatherly prayers he received from Ooni Aderemi. He prayed for the new Ooni in similar manner.

Alaafin did not forget to tell everyone that the day that Fani Kayode a.k.a Fani Power knocked his head with that of Ooni Aderemi on supremacy battle marked his end in the world of relevant politics……Fani Power collapsed politically.

Ooni also spoke and thanked Alaafin……he announced the demise of supremacy battle among obas in Yorubaland…….he also sang this beautiful song……..

To provide succour to Nigerians, Dangote recently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N970 to N899.50 at its Refinery loading gantry and provided generous credit terms to marketers.

“To ensure that this price reduction gets to the end consumer, we have signed a partnership with MRS to sell petrol from its retail outlets nationwide at N935 per litre” he added. This price has already commenced in Lagos, and it will be offered nationwide from Monday.

In his statement, he called on other oil marketers such as the NNPC Retail and all other marketers, “to work with us to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high-quality petrol at discounted prices.”

According to him, “The Dangote Refinery is for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. We will therefore continue to work with various value chain players to deliver high quality petrol at cheaper prices. Our aim is for all Nigerians to have ready access to high quality petroleum products that are good for their vehicles, good for their health, and good for their pockets.

Recall that in September, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the leadership of Mr. President approved the sale of crude to local refineries in Naira and corresponding purchase of petroleum products in Naira. The move, which commenced on October 1, led to reduced pressure on the dollar and ensured the stability of the local currency.

Dangote thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support and the government for creating an enabling environment for the domestic refining industry.

Port Harcourt Refinery Stays Active: NNPC Denounces Sabotage Rumors

NNPC Debunks Shutdown Rumors, Confirms Port Harcourt Refinery Fully Operational

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed reports circulating in certain media outlets claiming that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down.

In a statement released by Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, the company clarified that the refinery is fully operational. The statement noted that the facility’s operational status was recently verified by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC during a site inspection.

“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing,” the statement confirmed, emphasizing that allegations of the refinery’s shutdown are baseless and intended to create panic or artificial scarcity in the fuel market.

NNPC Ltd urged members of the public to disregard such misleading reports, labeling them as the work of those seeking to exploit Nigerians.

The Old Port Harcourt Refinery has been in operation since its re-streaming, and the company remains committed to ensuring stability in the supply of petroleum products across the country.
