MY VIEWS AND MY JOY WITH NAOSRE OVER ANNUAL DINNER NIGHT & DISCOURSE’S SUCCESS
– Olumide Akindiya, Lawyer, Notary Public & Principal Counsel, Olumide Akindiya & Co. Based in Lagos.

I consider it paramount to pour out my mind and at the same time rejoice with you, National Association of Online Security Reporters (NAOSRE) over the successful hosting of your Annual Dinner Night & Discourse. The Annual Dinner Night & Discourse which took place at Oriental Hotel, VI yesterday, on the 11th of December, 2020 at 5pm which the executive of NAOSRE, particularly the President Mr. Femi Oyewale invited me and promised me that i would be a glorious dinner night. Although not physically present owing to circumstances beyond my control, yet with pictures and video that I saw, my mind told me that it was really mind-blowing with numerous celebrities, media icon and renowned personalities present. I could perceive the aroma of tantalising foods available as individuals are not only choosing what they wanted to eat, but also eating to their fill. To be sincere, I missed the theme of the event, ‘Nigeria Security: Issues, funding and prospects’ by special guests/speakers: Prince Ned Nwoko and Senator Bala IBN Na’Allah.

To me, the President with other executive of NAOSRE has started a good work for their two years tenure. I am not expecting anything less as the executive are putting their competence to test. At this moment in the history of our country, security reportage is key to sustain our democracy and important to the unity of this country so NAOSRE cannot afford to fail in their duties. Primarily, not to hide truth or exaggerate any fact in their security reportage. NAOSRE need to write at the quickest time to avoid fake news or sharing of unverified news by those who were not trained in the field of journalism. Any individual can write, but what makes the difference is findings on truth, investigation, fairness, writing within the confines of the law and being trained on writing, reportage, ethics of journalism and viable media research. You are unavoidable in our society at the same time, your pride, fairness, neutrality in not taking sides and integrity will make people to have trust in your security reportage.

In putting a stop to my writing, I thereby end it that I rejoice with you, the executive and members of NAOSRE for successfully hosting your dinner night and discourse this year despite the economic degradation and aftermaths of Covid-19 and EndSARS protest. Simply, you just prove that where there is a will, there is a way to those who are determined and focus. Congratulations!

Those who wronged you may never say “I’m sorry” – Prudent Ludidi

Those who wronged you may never say “I’m sorry” – Prudent Ludidi

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, I want to talk about something that can be difficult to accept, those who wronged you may never say “I’m sorry.”

Those who wronged you may never say "I'm sorry" - Prudent Ludidi

We’ve all been hurt by someone at some point in our lives. And often, we hold onto that hurt, and hope in waiting for the person who wronged us to acknowledge their mistake and apologize.

But the truth is, that apology may never come.

It’s hard to accept because we feel like we deserve closure. We deserve to hear that the person who hurt us regrets their actions.

But closure is not something someone else gives you. Closure is something you give yourself.

You have the power to choose:

Choose to heal, even if they never acknowledge their wrongdoing
Choose to move forward, even if they never make amends

Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting what happened. Forgiveness means releasing the hold that person has on you.

Forgiveness means taking back control of your life.

You don’t need someone else’s apology to move on. You don’t need someone else’s validation to heal.

You are strong enough to do it on your own.

And when you do, you’ll find peace. You’ll find freedom.

Remember, holding onto anger and resentment only hurts you. It doesn’t change the past.

But forgiveness can change your future.

So, don’t wait for someone else to say “I’m sorry.” Say it to yourself: “I’m sorry that happened to me, but I’m moving forward.”

Say it loud and clear: “I deserve to heal. I deserve to be happy.”

Take back your power. Take back your life.

Move forward with courage and faith.

You got this.
