In a vibrant display of youth engagement and empowerment, renowned youth mentor and organizational psychologist, Ngozi Okafor, recently hosted a spectacular youth-centric show at the University of Abuja, on the 2nd July, 2025. Drawing an impressive crowd of thousands of students eager for inspiration and guidance.

The event, produced by Tayo Folorunsho, a well-known media personality and advocate for educational entertainment, marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to empower Nigerian youth through capacity building and educational interventions.

Folorunsho, speaking shortly after the event, described it as groundbreaking for the nation’s capital.

> “The event was a massive one and one of a kind in Abuja,” he said. “This is the first edition for this year, and we are very happy with the turnout. It’s proof that young people are hungry for knowledge, motivation, and platforms where they can express themselves.”

The show, designed to combine entertainment with education—a concept known as “edutainment”—featured talks, interactive sessions, and personal storytelling aimed at equipping students with practical skills and a positive mindset for the future.

Ngozi Okafor, who has spent over two decades working with youth across the UK, USA, and Nigeria, emphasized the importance of addressing the unique challenges faced by today’s young people.

> “Our show is about impacting minds, embracing the future, and giving guidance to the youths, especially those in the university,” Okafor said. “As a psychologist who has engaged youths all over the world, especially in Europe, I have come to understand the peculiar challenges this demographic faces, and we are here to nip them in the bud.”

The University of Abuja event is part of Okafor’s broader vision for youth development, which also includes transformative media content. Just few days ago, she unveiled plans for a new series of inspirational television programs aimed at educating and empowering young Nigerians.

Under the banner Ngozi Okafor Unleashes a Wave of Youth Energy Through Transformative TV Content, the forthcoming programs will cover topics such as self-discovery, entrepreneurship, leadership, financial literacy, and mental wellness. Each episode is designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-life application, featuring stories of resilience, expert interviews, and actionable guidance.

> “Our young people are gifted, but many are simply not guided,” Okafor noted during an earlier announcement. “These programs are my way of reaching out—to say, ‘I see you, I believe in you, and here are tools to help you build your future.’ It’s not just about being on TV. It’s about starting conversations that lead to transformation.”

Okafor’s contributions to youth development extend far beyond public speaking and media appearances. Her career includes work with Hope Worldwide International in the UK, supporting vulnerable and homeless youth, and leading business and leadership simulation programs with Junior Achievers in Atlanta, USA. In Nigeria, she has made a significant impact through the radio program Youth Arena on Armed Forces Radio 107.7 FM, where she partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria to promote financial literacy among young people.

Additionally, Okafor has provided practical support to over 50 young entrepreneurs in Nigeria by donating startup resources such as sewing machines, baking ovens, and seed funding to help them launch sustainable businesses.

> “This project is more than content—it’s a movement,” she said. “We are building a generation that is self-aware, skilled, and ready to lead. And we’re doing it one story, one screen, and one young person at a time.”

Details regarding the broadcast schedule and media partnerships for Okafor’s upcoming television series are expected to be announced soon. Meanwhile, the successful event at the University of Abuja has set a promising tone for continued efforts to empower Nigeria’s youth, sparking hope and enthusiasm among the nation’s future leaders.

FRSC Partners with Edutainment First International to Drive Road Safety Awareness in Nigeria

In a country where road accidents claim thousands of lives each year—most of them young people—the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Edutainment First International have launched a bold new initiative to change the narrative. On Thursday, August 14, both organizations hosted the maiden Road Safety Youth Hangout at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja.

The event, held to mark United Nations International Youth Day 2025, brought together more than 300 participants, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), students, youth leaders, and community representatives. Unlike traditional road safety campaigns, the hangout was designed as an interactive forum blending education and entertainment, where young Nigerians could learn, innovate, and commit to safer road practices.

According to FRSC data, young people remain the most vulnerable demographic in road traffic crashes across Nigeria—an urgent concern this initiative aims to tackle. Through storytelling, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving, the Road Safety Youth Hangout sought to transform young Nigerians into advocates for safety within their communities.

“This is not just about rules and regulations,” said one of the organizers. “It’s about equipping young people with the tools and the voice to change Nigeria’s road culture.”

Aligned with the UN’s 2025 theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” the program underscored the critical role of young Nigerians in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those connected to health, safety, and responsible citizenship.

By focusing on empowerment rather than enforcement, FRSC and Edutainment First International signaled a fresh approach to road safety: investing in the next generation as the real drivers of change. The belief is simple yet powerful—an informed and empowered youth population is key to reducing accidents and saving lives.

For many participants, the hangout was more than just an event; it was a wake-up call. With interactive sessions infused with music, drama, and dialogue, young Nigerians were challenged to reflect on their daily habits as road users and to embrace leadership as advocates for safer communities.

As one youth participant reflected:

“Road safety isn’t just the job of the FRSC. It’s our responsibility too—because we are the ones most at risk.”

The maiden edition of the Road Safety Youth Hangout may have ended, but the movement it launched has only just begun. Its message was unmistakable: Nigeria’s fight for safer roads must be youth-led, collaborative, and relentless.
