Ogun APC Crisis: The Demystification of Governor Amosun

Published

Amosun

Playing political tin god or the godfather can be burdensome.

For one, you must have the resources (financial and human muscles) to play with. You must also have the contacts and network to tap into when the need arises.

Your tactical strategies must be superior to those of your opponents and most importantly, you must have the brute force to back up your operational moves.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State surely has some of these traits but definitely, he is dispossessed of critical success factors as a *political godfather*.

Much as he tried on the single subject of installing his lackey as the next Governor of Ogun State through his Party (APC), the self styled “Emperor” has so far failed, thus demystifying his over bloated ego.

Running from pillar to pole to execute a single task is not in the nature of godfathers. They simply command and it is done in an Italian Mafia’s style.

So distressed and distraughted, the Governor who has tried all the tricks in his arsenal to upturn the position of his Party’s NWC including sponsoring of royal trips to Abuja, massive media attacks against his perceived enemies, State-wide protests of all sorts and most disturbingly, open blackmail of the President himself (his erstwhile mentor, friend and beneficiary), has restored to ingenue tactical summersaults (as  last joker) to achieve his objective.

A Governor that was professing his undying love for the President who is the head of his political dynasty on one hand,  is also playing anti politics by sponsoring a rival political Party, DPP, through his staunched aides.
The irony is very hard to reconcile and believe. He seems not to have sincere advisers and close friends who can call him to order.

Sources that claimed the Governor is rallying round his Presidency friends to thwart the position of the Party’s NWC in the coming week, might be building a false hope for him to finally dig his political grave. The plan was for him to commit so much political blunders in a way that his coffin could be nailed.

That he was given so much concessions through the acceptance of about 90% of his nominated list for the National Assembly was a gesture to exhaust his greediness and expose him to the world.

My source claimed that the much talked about a 3-man Committee by the President was to push him away from the seat of power because he was already becoming a pest and busybody with no electoral values.

The contention of those in the known is that almost 100% of the Ogun State’s stakeholders with interest in the project have lost faith in his leadership and he would only be an Alberto on the

President’s neck towards 2019 presidential election if he is not checkmated now. The need to tactically isolate him and be decisively dealt with like a political leprosy has been finalised.
Like it has been stated in another article, Governor Amosun is a political spent-force and he doesn’t possess the clout of any godfathers he is pretending to be.
SIA has been demystified, bruised and he is turning a desperate spoiler. He can’t just win!

To provide succour to Nigerians, Dangote recently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N970 to N899.50 at its Refinery loading gantry and provided generous credit terms to marketers.

“To ensure that this price reduction gets to the end consumer, we have signed a partnership with MRS to sell petrol from its retail outlets nationwide at N935 per litre” he added. This price has already commenced in Lagos, and it will be offered nationwide from Monday.

In his statement, he called on other oil marketers such as the NNPC Retail and all other marketers, “to work with us to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high-quality petrol at discounted prices.”

According to him, “The Dangote Refinery is for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. We will therefore continue to work with various value chain players to deliver high quality petrol at cheaper prices. Our aim is for all Nigerians to have ready access to high quality petroleum products that are good for their vehicles, good for their health, and good for their pockets.

Recall that in September, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the leadership of Mr. President approved the sale of crude to local refineries in Naira and corresponding purchase of petroleum products in Naira. The move, which commenced on October 1, led to reduced pressure on the dollar and ensured the stability of the local currency.

Dangote thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support and the government for creating an enabling environment for the domestic refining industry.
