Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) has unveiled theme, Speakers and Penalists for it’s 2022 annual summit. The event which will hold 28th of October 2022 at the Prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel in Lekki will be the second edition of the conference. In a statement signed by the Organizing Committee, and made available to the media, the focus of this year event will be on the Nation’s security and the 2023 general elections, using digital news reporting as a tool.
The Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr Ifetayo Adeniyi Moses said the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel will be the keynote speaker, while the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP), Bishop Isaac Idahosa will be the Guest Speaker of the occasion.
Speaking on the theme of the event, “Nigeria’s Security Architecture And Digital News Reportage – A Credibility Threshold For A Successful 2023 General Elections”, Niyi revealed that the idea is to bring together, relevant stakeholders as far as the 2023 general elections is concerned, and major players in the Nation’s security apparatus to discuss on the way forward, as the media play it’s role.
“Dear colleagues, on behalf of my President, Otunba Femi Davies, who is the Chief Host of this noble event, and members of my committee, I present to you, the template for the 2022 SDNON Summit, themed “Nigeria’s Security Architecture And Digital News Reportage – A Credibility Threshold For A Successful 2023 General Elections”, It is also an honor for me to announce His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel as the keynote speaker, OGD as we all know him, is the former governor of Ogun State.
“Also on our guests list is a revered minister of the gospel, Arch-Bishop Isaac Idahosa. He is the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP). The organizing committee also hinted that the 2022 SDNON Summit is proudly sponsored by United Bank Of Africa (UBA), Rites Foods (Makers of Bigi Drinks) and Polak Group of Companies. The event is supported by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III (The Olu of Warri), and His Beautiful Queen Consort, Olori Atuwatse III. Kick off time for the event is 12:30noon.
Appeal Court Removes MC Oluomo, Reinstate Baruwa
The Appeal Court in Abuja has announced Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the lawful President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
It can be recalled that Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was days ago inaugurated as NURTW president.
The recent decision came after the court reviewed and upheld an earlier ruling by the National Industrial Court.
The initial judgment, delivered on March 11, 2024, recognized Baruwa as the rightful president of the union. However, an appeal was filed by Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, and their supporters. They argued against the Industrial Court’s decision but were unsuccessful in convincing the appellate court.
A three-member panel of justices, Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi, ruled that the appeal lacked merit. The court declared Baruwa as the elected leader of NURTW and dismissed the challenge brought forward by MC Oluomo’s faction.
In addition to confirming Baruwa’s position, the Appeal Court ordered the appellants, who are supporters of MC Oluomo, to pay N100,000 as damages to the respondents.
